BEWARE DO NOT USE

I wanted a standard security lock for my front door as the original was not turning.

I should have looked for Master Locksmiths with good reviews for the job. Quickfix Locksmiths just came up on Google search.

When they turned up the Quickfix operative asked if I have home insurance. He told me I could claim the cost of the lock replacement on my insurance. THE TRUTH IS I COULDN'T BECAUSE INSURERS DO NOT PAY FOR WORN OUT LOCKS.

I stupidly agreed to a standard call charge of £57. They actually charged me £120 as an emergency call out which it certainly was not. Nor was it a weekend call.

Lock price for a so called insurance job in the eyes of Quickfix £265 for a TSS Mortice lock. But they could have offered a better lock for £365. A TSS mortice lock exactly the same on line actually costs £11.65. I chose their cheapest lock option because at that time I genuinely thought I could claim against household insurance as they convinced me. Which I have never ever done in my life.

Labour. Quickfix charges were £145 for about 30 minutes. Probably £50 to £65 is about right.
When I ask how much their bill would be I was told wait until they finish the job.
Bill came in at £636 for a job worth about £160 plus VAT.

No point querying a bill because all you get is I will talk to my superior. You don't hear from them again.

Causing an argument with their operative in my home during a global pandemic? Not really an option for me or anyone else.

The only way this company could redeem itself is by admitting their locksmith made a genuine error in charging as an insurance job when it was not one and offering an appropriate credit against my bill. Not holding my breath on that one.

I therefore would urge anyone looking for a locksmith DO NOT USE this firm.

SCAM Avoid!!

SCAM. Do not use! Preying on vulnerability. Do not be fooled by the professional website. Once on your property there is an expectation you will pay well over the odds for a service (4 x the reasonable rate), even if you decline it. No figures are quoted over the phone. If you refuse the service they intimidate and threaten. To lesson the blow of the extortionate costs they suggest they will ‘break the key in the lock’ so you can use it as fake evidence for an insurance claim for accidental damage’. They only left when police action was suggested. Used a local bona fide company and saved over £400 for the same service. SCAM

Absolute disgrace more like con artist than locksmiths

Absolute disgrace I asked for a quote, I was then quoted £49 inc VAT the lock smith turned up and immediately told me he had to drill the lock out, so he got me in after drilling the lock and then told me I owed £165 inc VAT I said “ok that sounds like day light robbery” but I got my card ready anyway...... he then said he can fit a lock for another payment of £200 for the latch pet of the lock and £110 for the barrel key insert I told him no thanks it’s too much! he then made a phone call and then asked me for £198 he said sorry I have given you wrong price...... so I then payed him the extortion! The next day I messaged the same company asking for a quote for call out charge and gaining access to my house they said it’s £49 inc VAT so not once but twice I was given a quote 4 times cheaper than what I paid!! Absolute day light robbery I advice not to get in contact with this company!!!
After all this I could have drilled the lock out myself and also fitted the new one as I went a brought a new lock for £25 and fitted it myself! They are just complete con artist

SCAM

SCAM - DO NOT USE! Charged over £1,000 for a simple lock change. They take advantage of people and lie, and then cannot be contacted again. Rogue locksmiths who need to be shut down for this practice that should be illegal.

cheap call out.

Do not use, standard call out fee is attractive but when on site everything is highly over inflated in price, a simple replacement barrels that cost £8 are charged at £120, Secure locks are drilled in the space of minuets but charges at a fixed made up price. Overall they were at my property for less then 30 mints and wanted £570

In addition there only skill it to drill a lock and make lots of damage to the door.

Rip off

Rip off - do not use.
Called out to replace locks, paid, only to be told by insurance company that we had been grossly over charged. Nearly £900 for parts (which they won’t cover)!
Queried with ‘Steve’ (who wouldn’t give a surname). ‘That’s what we charge for parts’ was the reply. Wish I’d used another company.

Incompetent rip off merchants

A guy from quickfix locksmiths came to look at my pvc door that was opening and closing but not locking. He took the locking mechanism out and pointed out that it was broken and would need replacing. He said it would cost over £400 to replace. I said I couldn't afford that so he tried to barter the price down by knocking off some of the labour charge. I said I still couldn't afford it. So he put the locking mechanism back in and charged me £58.80 call out fee. I reluctantly paid him and he left. About ten minutes later, I went to close my pvc door and it wouldn't shut. He'd put the mechanism back with the lock engaged and I could no longer deactivate it with the handle. So basically I've paid out just under £60 for a door that's now in a worse condition. I rang the locksmith back and asked him to come back and put it back to the way it was and he said he would come back after he attended another call out. Three hours later he still didn't arrive, so I rang him again. I got no answer but he text me back saying the door was already like that and he wouldn't be coming back. I then received a phone call off another guy asking me to stop bothering his locksmith. He refused to listen to me and basically called me a liar.

So whatever you do, don't use Quickfix Locksmiths. They will rip you off.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company, they will rip you off, they lure you in with an ok call out fee and then charge excessively, they intimidate you to pay on the day. When you complain they laugh at you. To fix a broken lock and replace the mechanism cost £600, a new door would be cheaper.

Today I was unfortunate enough to have…

Today I was unfortunate enough to have to call these people to look at my door lock and they send a guy out pretty sharpish they told me there would be no call out fee which there was £49 he looked at the door and told me the lock was broken which I already knew or I wouldn’t have had the misfortune of calling them.then he told me it would cost over £400 just for the lock that is without the labour. So to get rid of this rather large gentleman I gave him the money. I phoned up there office and spoke to a man about the charge and he didn’t have the decency to ring me back they just fobbed me off. All they have is an attractive web site which is not true please please do not use this company. This is just a rip-off as I found out today. I have since learnt I can buy the lock for approximately £50 which is what I am going to do.please take this in as this is what happened to me.Dont use them.

How to get scammed out of your money

We were quoted £49 when being locked out of our apartment. I doubled checked on the phone about the price before agreed to have them come over. They ended up charging £180 because it was "an old lock" and needed to be drilled. The man was rude and he just drilled in in less than 5 mins destroying the lock. We have talked to other locksmiths and they have all agreed that this price is ridiculous. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

Essentially a scam

Essentially a scam. £130 hidden call out fee that weren't mentioned on the website or the phone. Plus an inflated £200 fee for a job my landlord was later able to do in 15 minutes. The guy sent out was a rude cowboy as was the person on the phone when i disputed the hidden fees. Left me feeling like a mug so don't make the same mistake!

DO NOT USE SCAM!!!!

DO NOT USE SCAM!!!!!
Was given a quote of £60 over the phone but when the locksmith arrived he immediately increased it to £234 as it was a “hard job” he then asked for another £200 to install a new lock which is £42 in B&Q. We declined a new lock and he left the job with our door unsecured.
He seemed completely unqualified and spent the majority of the time on the phone on WhatsApp back and fourth messages and taking pictures of our door and the lock. What should of been a quick job took him 2:30 hours. He completely annihilated our brand new 2 week old door, he also destroyed both the doors mechanisms and we were left with scratches and gouges where his screwdriver slipped trying to break his way in. Their website states ”We’re able to open any type of door, while avoiding (or rectifying when needed) all the damage and replacing all types of locks”. This is complete rubbish, our brand new door is still damaged and we are having to pay another company to rectify Quickfix’s damage down to his poor workmanship and inability to undertake the work.
When he left nearly 3 hours later we called his office and agreed to a refund and we were asked to call them the next day to expedite our refund. But of course when we called the next day they hung up when they knew what postcode we were and now they have blocked our number.
For your own sakes don’t use this company under any circumstances the work is subcontracted out in our case to an unqualified locksmith con-artists!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! COMPLETE SCAM ARTISTS. They will tell you £60 then when they arrive they will say it’s a really hard job so it will cost more. I was charge £234.00 in the end and was asked for another £200 for a new lock which you can buy for £42 in B&Q. I said no to the lock so he just left and so I had a door with no lock. What should have been a quick job turned into a 2:30 hour destruction of my whole door he left it scratched completely broken and seemed completely unqualified. He was on his phone sending pictures as he didn’t have a clue what he was doing. After everything he left and I called the office for a refund. They then hung up on my blocked my number and have completely ignored me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
