Seat Assignment Terrible

Inwas never given the opportunity to select a forward facing seat. this is very important to us. Now i wait for my email request to come through.

We’re sorry to hear the assigned seats didn’t fully meet your expectations. For SNCF and Renfe trains, we’re able to offer seat preferences during booking, including options like forward-facing seats where available. Seats are then automatically assigned by the system based on availability and the preferences selected, as specific seat selection isn’t supported for these rail operators.

If the allocated seats are not convenient, passengers can also check with the onboard staff, who may be able to assist with a seat change or swap depending on availability during the journey.

Interrail passholder seat reservations

The Interrail passholder seat reservations I have bought (SNCF Paris Est - Strasbourg) are shown as exchangeable and refundable. Unfortunately I have had to make changes twice and haven't been able to find the exchange mechanism, either through Rail Europe or SNCF Voyageurs which has my reservations on its system but just refers me back to the booking agency ie Rail Europe. Consequently I have had to cancel and re-book which means paying the reservation fee again each time.

We see you booked passholder seat reservation for your Deutsche Bahn (DB) train trip Paris Est - Strasbourg. For this type of passholder reservation, changes are handled through cancellation and rebooking - which you did already. When plans change, the original reservation can be refunded according to the applicable fare conditions, and a new reservation can then be booked for the updated journey.

We see you booked French train trips - For French trains, we’re able to offer seat preferences during booking, and the system automatically allocates seats based on availability and the selected preference, as specific seat selection isn’t available.
