After being referred by my GP to Mount Stuart (Torbay) I expected a bit more selected service than I would have by going NHS. It was an absolute disaster. I can categorically say now they are only int... See more

I missed an appointment last night that I didn't know I had. My original appointment was for Monday 19th and was understandably cancelled due to the queens funeral, the operator told me another appointment would be sent through the post probably for October. Then I received a call last night saying that I had missed my new appointment! I did not receive any notification of this, how frustrating is that.
Medical staff great but badly let down by clerical staff who RARELY answer the phone, send appointments out even after you've been discharged and then send more out after you've told them about it and who generally make Faulty Towers look highly efficient!
Have an appointment with them but can't get through to them for any details. Currently into hour 3 if being on hold.
What a tale of two halves! Nursing staff are excellent, well trained and caring. Administration is dreadful.
My consultant suggested that I book appointments for two cataract operations with two weeks between.
Arranged for first op on 8th April and second one on 22nd April at Sawbridgeworth. On 1st April I receive a letter in the post informing me that I have to pay for the operation at least 10days before, which isn’t now possible. However I didn’t want any problems with the second operation so I paid double the requested amount on the understanding that would prevent any complications on either operation.
On 6th April I got a phone call from the hospital to say that they hadn’t got everything for my operation and had to cancel it. However I was promised that the earliest possible date would be given to me when the implants were available. No contact after that despite my enquiring about the situation. Finally got a call to say that the first eye would now be done on 22nd and I should book the second eye appointment myself for two weeks. Anyway both eyes were eventually operated on and the care was faultless.
Then the problem started. I received invoices for the operations that I had paid, and worse than that, the price of the second one was cheaper. I had overpaid by £221.00. After a week I received yet another demand for payment with the threat that if I didn’t pay debt collectors would be sent round! Another message to Sawbridgeworth pointing out that I had settled for both operations, had a receipt for my payment and overpaid so would they please refund me the £221.00.
Haven’t had any more demands for money, but also no sign of the money they owe me. I have twice filled in their online complaints form, written directly to the hospital accounts department but I am completely ignored. It looks like I have to file a claim with the small claims court for my money plus costs in order to get the refund. Totally disgusted with the company, obviously they cannot live up to their brochure claim of being caring for you! So much for private health care, the only caring thing Ramsay care about is getting money and keeping it.
Today 23 rd June 2022, I attended Woodlands Grange Outpatients for a 12 noon appointment for some tests arranged by my eye consultant. As a result I wouldn't even grace them with one star
This organisation needs a wake up call, the map provided was incoherent and took us eventually to the Woodland Hospital. The location was given on the paperwork as Rothwell Rd , Kettering which took you to the Kettering Hospital using my cars sat nav. The location is actually off junction 6 of the A14, if you miss it there is a 4 mile detour due to absence of any adequate signage until you are almost at your destination
Future out patients to Wood land Grange Outpatients at Rothwell grange Court should be aware of the following
1. The map provided is the wrong map and even for Woodland Hospital is totally incoherent . We spent over 40 minutes trying to find the destination in heavy traffic
2. Don't attempt to call for directions as our call took over 20 minutes to be answered !
3. Don't expect the receptionist at either Woodland location to take any interest in your comments about the lack of a phone reply or a proper map, we were met with indifference and a comment that our sat nav in a new Mercedes S Class must be wrong !
4 Above all don't use your sat nav to get there , the Rothwell rd destination takes you to the wrong location
Ramsay Health care need to smarten up there act as if this is the level of service provided to paying customers they will obtain their health care from a caring and efficient supplier,
The final insult was my paper work said my procedure may require eye drops to dilute my pupils which could affect my ability to drive, as it happened my procedures were nothing of the sort so I not only wasted my time today but my wife's time in coming with me.to drive me home
I had surgery at Park Hill hospital in Doncaster and the level of care from the ward and theatre staff was exceptional. I really can't fault any of the care recieved, I felt well looked after throughout and I'd happily give them 5*
The huge downside was the lack of communication/poor communication from the hospital. I was continually chasing my appointments and letters I should have had weeks earlier. The admin side was really poor and did let the company down.
Got in quick with initial consultation which I thought would be the start of something good - how wrong was I!
Surgeon tells you one date for operation, private patient manager tells you another and now after numerous calls, still no further forward with any date. What a bunch of amateurs who really live up to the bad press this company give off on Trustpilot.
I really could go into so much detail about there lack of interest, hanging up calls, voicemail messages but I’m exhausted typing about this cowboy outfit.
So frustrating- Ramsay Health Care Cobalt hospital. Surely not all private hospitals have this reputation?!
You only got 1 star as it wouldn’t let me give you less!
I've been waiting for 8 months for a date for a procedure. It took over a month for my last email to even be read. They do not take their patients seriously.
After some research I decided to go for the Co2 laser facial resurfacing for ageing skin. It's supposed to be the gold standard treatment for addressing wrinkles, skin tightening etc. I chose Exeter Medical which was the only hospital in my area offering this procedure, they are now part of Ramsay Health care.
On my arrival I was met by a lovely friendly nurse who would be with me throughout my procedure. She applied numbing cream to my face and I was told that I'd have to wait a while for the cream to take effect. After about 20 minutes I was shown into the treatment room and told to make myself comfortable on the bed and the excess numbing cream was wiped off my face. Shortly afterwards Dr ***** came into the room, there was no acknowledgement or any information on what I could expect during the procedure he simply placed in my eye shields and commenced with the laser treatment. It was a lot more painful than I had expected, I later read that the numbing cream should have been on my face for at least 45 minutes not 20! Throughout the procedure at no point did it he ask if I was OK comfortable etc., he just made small talk across me with the nurse! I know with hindsight that I should have spoken up but I do suffer with anxiety so as you can imagine the environment that I was in was well out of my comfort zone! He did mumble a couple of words when I was leaving the treatment room, but because I felt so upset about his rudeness and the way I'd been treated (a non-entity) I can't recall what they were. It's now been 15 months since my treatment and I can't see any improvement to my skin, but because no before photos were taken I feel it would be fruitless to complain because obviously there is nothing to compare it with. So taking into account the service I received and the treatment outcome I cannot recommend this hospital to anyone.

Do you know that the Covid emergency is over? As a private patient and a medical practitioner running a private practice I can’t tell you how insulting it was to have a supercilious receptionist insisting on watching me hand gelling, which I refused to do. There are signs to practice social distancing everywhere and I had to wear a mask despite there being very few people around and these outdated Covid rules aren’t even applied at proper medical hospitals where people are actually ill.
Get over yourselves Ramsey Health and grow up.
Treat your patients as paying customers who know what is necessary. We aren’t children to be talked down to by your unqualified staff.
Next time I’ll go elsewhere and because I choose to pay , I can. And get up to date !!!
We decided to self fund investigation and a CT scan for my husband due to our concerns of a possible malignancy of a lump of indeterminate nature that had been found incidentally during a visit to A & E for an unrelated issue. This was in the hope of getting a diagnosis quickly rather than waiting the 3 months that the NHS suggested for a follow up. From the start of our contact with them the service was terrible, it took weeks to arrange an appointment with a Consultant who then ordered a test and a CT scan. Getting an appointment for the CT scan was nigh on impossible and again took weeks. Every time we phoned to book the appointment there was an excuse, firstly the Consultant hadn’t ordered it, then it had to be agreed and signed off by a Radiologist and then again that they hadn’t received the request, so someone was lying! We eventually got the appointment and despite having been quoted a cost of £500 we had to pay before it was done and they charged us £550. The Consultant he saw was excellent and we eventually got the diagnosis we had hoped for that the nodule is believed to be benign. However because of all of the delays this was only about three weeks prior to getting the NHS appointment so whilst we were happy to pay for peace of mind in reality we could have saved the money and had the NHS testing and the diagnosis just a couple of weeks later. We thought this was the end of the story until yesterday when we received an invoice and a demand for immediate payment for the CT scan which we had prepaid. We had the card receipt so were able to prove that we had already paid but the invoice cost for the scan was only £495 so we appear to have overpaid. Numerous phone calls have taken place with different members of staff in the accounts departments at both Head Office and the hospital and nobody can give us an adequate explanation of why we have been overcharged. I will be taking this up with them directly and requesting a refund but given our experience so far I don’t hold out much hope, their administration is in total chaos and we were obviously lied to as well due to the different excuses given for not being able to get the CT booked. I wish I had read the Trustpilot reviews before using them and we wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
After using Ramsey Healthcare for my colorectal problems- well in particular John Griffiths- I have been fobbed off and quite frankly had enough.
-I spent about 6months seeing him, where he used Botox for my bowels and in the end said he has exhausted all options and referred me to someone else after wasting my time. Absolutely appalling. I have got nowhere because the consultant I had seen, privately, Sonia Lockwood is now seeing me on the NHS for physio because the private physiotherapist isn’t as good as the NHS one but doesn’t seem to understand about the waiting times and the pain and frustration it is causing me and the way it is affecting my quality of life.
Terrible first impressions couldn't even book an appointment or ct that's I was going to fork out 3k for as the man on the phone couldn't take any details due to an apparent "bad phone line" yet I could hear him perfectly and I had full signal. How a landlines on his side can have bad signal is beyond me and just completely ridiculous for a private healthcare service. AVOID.
West Boston Hospital. Wed 29 Dec, 2021.
By referral from my GP i tried to contact this company to arrange a privately paid for ultrasound diagnosis. After trying to call the hospital on various numbers for an hour and a half in office hours and being disconnected or told the hospital was ‘closed’ I tried another site to enquire. That site told me ‘it should be open’ and maybe ‘they are having problems with their phones?” Through perseverance I got through, spoke to an unidentified staff person and was advised of a possible three week wait (on an emergency application) although the computer system ‘wasn’t responding’ and she could not be sure.
In short, the comms of this organisation are a mess. Needless to say I have had to seek alternative help elsewhere. I could not Trust my health with such an organisation based on these experiences.
Appalling service from Ramsay Health Care at Beacon Park Hospital, Stafford.
Booked in for a minor op which they ring up on the morning 5 hours before I’m due to have it to cancel. No reason given when asked. Just they were sorry.
Having reorganised my life and taken time off work to have skin cancer removed this is not the level of service I would expect when paying for it.
Having now had the surgery that was rearranged quite quickly I have edited my original review.
The team were excellent and the care received was very good. Having now found out the cancellation was down to a staff issue I have given them 4 stars. If only I had been given this as a reason in the first place I would have understood.
I can recommend Ramsey Health Beacon Hospital.
Appalling experience yesterday at Ramsay Rivers Hospital, where seeing a Consultant Cardiologist, I required an urgent ECG. The entire Hospital only has 1 ECG machine and it was not working. I had to be sent to the nearest NHS Hospital to have the ECG performed. I will be writing to my private medical insurance to formally complain, as a hospital which is so poorly equipped should not be a ‘go to’ place for privately insured patients (or any patient for that matter).
I used Pinehill in Hitchin . I cannot fault the doctors, or nurses and ward staff. My problem lies with the physiotherapist who made me feel like a failure and incompetent because I said I would still use a walking frame when I went I home .In the space of 8 months because of my knee problems I lost my job, had to leave my house , suffered a broken arm and had to cope with an unwell 93 year old father who died. I told them this but the lack of compassion was shocking.yes you have tried to make amends but I doubt you understand the. Devastation you have caused.
I have used Ashtead Hospital, a subsidiary of Ramsay Healthcare UK over a number of years and have always paid my bills promptly. I am a 75 year old man, have, within the last two months, been diagnosed with prostate cancer and start my treatment next week. Within the last two months I have received numerous messages and calls from a debt collecting company called Icon which I refuse to deal with. I have tried to contact Ashtead Hospital finance department, who have refused to deal with me despite the fact that I do not know the alleged debt. On the only two occasions within the last few weeks, when Ashtead Hospital have answered my call, they have promised to send me copy invoices of the alleged debt, yet despite my stating very clearly that I will happily deal with themselves, in order to understand the debt problem, but will refuse to deal with Icon, it is that company that have called me, under the guise of Ashtead Hospital and now emailed copy invoices and require payment within three days.
I will continue to have nothing to do with Icon and if Ashtead refuse to deal with me, I will contact Ramsay Healthcare UK.
It seems, if Ashtead Hospital finance department"s paperwork is to be be believed, that I owe them in excess of £1000. I believe that this cannot be the case. It is possible that there is some confusion because my original health insurer was CS Healthcare, was taken over by Bupa, late last year.
As far as my personal situation is concerned, I can only repeat I am a 75 year old man and have, within the last month been diagnosed with prostate cancer. I start my treatment next week. Under normal circumstances, I would be dealing with Ashtead Hospital, but given their intransigence, I will use them no more. If a responsible member of Ramsay Healthcare contacts me, I will deal with this matter at the end of my cancer treatment, which will be around mid September 2021.
If they are not interested, so be it. I await a threatened Court date and will deal with the matter at that time.

I had a procedure under my health insurance, that was fine. There was a follow up outpatient consultation to give me my results. These were of some concern. I’d need a follow up as my health could be deteriorating. Months later I started to get debt letters for this consultation and some were quite upsetting. They hadn’t billed my insurance company and blankly refused to just contact them to sort the small bill. I explained I’d had a nervous breakdown also and my health was really impacted by this clerical error from the Oakland’s hospital Salford. But it continues. I’m disgusted with this awful company. Please don’t ever use them. I work in medical and I’ll go as far to say they are the most unprofessional company I’ve ever known. Your health is important, put it in the hands of a truly caring company. It’s appalling how I’ve tried to sort this but they have no customer care whatsoever. Now I have a county court bill because they refused to just talk to my insurance company. On writing I’ve spoken to them and they advise me they still haven’t been billed. This is entirely the fault of Ramsey health in Salford Oakland’s. I have an expensive insurance policy that wants to pay but they have an attack dog they prefer.
I’ve reminded them they have a duty of care. This falls on deaf ears. I work for Nuffield, spire and the NHS. In over thirty years I’ve never been so shocked by a company.
Do not use Ramsey Health as they have zero care.
