Pricing is unrealiable and untrustworthy

They switched from very reasonable perpetual licensing with a small maintenance fee for updates (if I recall, $25/machine + $5/year for updates for their basic package) to $50+/machine/year rental to now $200+/year per CONNECTION which makes no sense since there is zero overhead for their connections on their side. If I make 10 simultaneous connections to a machine on my network, that uses approximately 0% of their server resources, but apparently I would need to pay $2,000+ for this privledge. Oh, and frequently connections would hang so you wouldn't be connected, but it would show that you are connected (using up those expensive connection slots), so you would need to go through this effort to force disconnect them.

There was no grandfathering of existing plans or option to stay on. Nope, they just forced everyone onto their new plan.

When they made this change, they would literally just charge the old per machine rate for some number of connections that they would map it to, so you had some people paying $50 and some people paying $200 for the same thing.

On renewal, they now charge the list price. Of course, since they keep raising prices and reducing service (with the original $25 perpetual license, I could have as many connections as I like), why would I not expect them to keep doing this? How can I put this into critical IT infrastructure when I have no idea what next year's rate would be?

Subscription Doubled & Hide behind their T&C's

My subscription was doubled on "Auto-renewal" and no early warning of the price hike. When attempted to make a change they hide behind the 30 day notice rule so basically I've had to pay nearly £1,100 for a service that last year was £500.

Very poor service and a blnket " you can't make changes". I highly recommend others look around for a berret supplier with more integity and honesty.

I really like the program but...

I really like the program, it is easy to use and generally very reliable. However, the billing is completely obtuse. I go through the hassle of getting a quote, and when I go to pay the quote has expired and I'm left without any resources, invariably left hanging and no one gets back to me for days.

But then they called as soon as the office was open on Monday (though it was 4am here and for some reason I missed the call), and sent an new renewal email that I was able to use to renew the subscription. More importantly, I was not forced to reload the software on all the machines, it continued to work properly. Thumbs up!

Very Poor!

We were moved from a good basic service to a more expensive, poor and inconvenient service. Their website is totally non intuitive, you get error messages that tell you one thing, when to error is something entirely different and their android app just takes you to dead ends, it's rubbish!

Once averything was working prices went up TIMES FIVE!!

I used RealVNC for years when it was free. Now (since a few years) I pay €7,25 a month so I can use it on the computer and 2 iPhones. But ok, it's worth it.
Now that everything was working perfect, they're telling me I have to upgrade to the Plus plan where I pay €14,50 PER DEVICE per month??
So I go from €7,25 to €43,50 per month???
Stay away from this fraudulent company!!

Watch for upcharges at renewal with unauthorized plan changes

This use to be an excellent product/service, however they discontinued the free subscription for home users and forced those into the basic "essentials" plan at about $85/yr with auto renew. After one year the credit card was charged more due to an upgrade in the plan. During a chat session with the CSR I stated I did not authorize or was notified of a subscription change and that I did not want to renew at the upgraded price. They said another department would have to process the change, I told them to just cancel the renewal, they said it would cancel after the renewal date (one year out), I said it is not set to renew until tomorrow, to simply cancel it, it took a while and a lot of aggravation and threat to dispute the charge but they did cancel the subscription. Be on the lookout for unauthorized and without notice upgrades/upcharges at renewal, a very poor business practice, resulting in a loss to a long-term customer...

Horrible company, will try and rob you if they can!

Horrible company. I used them for several years, and although there were some technical issues, they were the only company in the market at the time that did what I needed. I was paying $350 a year for access to 5 boxes. Well, they decided to switch me to a Business Premium account on March 15th, 2025 and tried to charge me $750. No consent on my part, and when I contacted support they said "well, we sent you 2 emails, and because you didn't answer, we automatically signed you up for what we thought was best". And what they thought was "BEST" was of course over twice as much. I hope there is a class action lawsuit I can join, what a horrible company. You can't just arbitrarily sign someone up to a plan that is over double their original plan cost without their consent. Never use RealVNC, they will try and steal from you every chance they get.

There is no customer support! I have been trying to get help with RealVNC for 3 days and I can only get through the chat and they say someone will contact me in 1 business day. They are in UK and not available. The only US phone number is sales and since I already bought their horrible product they are no help!!

New plans are extoration scam

Company changed plans and policies to attempting to extort money from users by deliberately making the free (lite) option invisible and so buggy that once you found it, it's impossible to get it work and you can't reach tech support if you to resolve plans unless you pay for a plan you don't need. The paid plans offer poor values compared to others and ill suited for individuals and small business which they clearly no longer care about.

Support is dreadful

Support is dreadful. I try to report a bug yet all they do is fob me off. They refuse to fix anything I report. The client has an INCREDIBLY ANNOYING bug where it releases the mouse button if I accidentality move the mouse outside the desktop screen whilst dragging. The mouse button should NOT be released if mouse is moved outside the desktop screen while the mouse button is down. I am furious they refuse to fix this. I feel RealVNC is a waste of money. I should get proper support with what I pay them (Premium) yet I don't.

We've been using RealVNC in earnest for…

We've been using RealVNC in earnest for 50+ users since the pandemic. It has been solid and reliable, as far as I can tell we've had ZERO significant problems in 3 years of use. The fact that it began life as free open source software attracted me to use it, the price was a bonus.
