Terrible service
The staff were extremely unhelpful, the wait time was far too long, the system is absolutely broken. All round terrible
This is referring to recordgo malaga
Don't risk your money
Please, do not risk your hard working money by renting from this company. They are not reliable and tend to keep all your money no matter what. They should not be allowed to operate and rob people of their money. I am referring to Record go Lisbon.
Disgusting service and they steal your money
We hired a car from Record Go via VIP cars in the UK. It was booked some 6 months beforehand but luckily we only paid a deposit.
On the day our flight was cancelled and British Airways put us on another flight travelling much later from Heathrow instead of Gatwick. I spoke with VIP cars several times to advise them but they said they would probably only hold the booking for 6 hours from the original pick up time.
When we eventually arrived in Mallorca some 12 hours late we were informed by a really rude employee at Record Go that not only was our booking cancelled but they would not be returning any of our money.
There were families with really small children and several other couples who were also left in the same predicament late at night. They had paid in full for their car and were informed there would be no refund.
Unscrupulous behaviour from this company. Avoid at all costs. They should be SHUT DOWN!!!
hired a car from Recordgo in Valencia…
hired a car from Recordgo in Valencia and was dealt with by Marina who in one word was superb certainly went the extra mile in sorting out the hire of childrens car seats that had not been ordered in advance

Refund my petrol money... Scam
I'm still waiting the return of the petrol deposit. £100. Since 25th July, that I'm waiting. Wrote an email to customer service, that should have replied by today, and nothing. What a scam.
Via VIPS
Via VIPS, I got a booking at Record Go car rentals in Madrid airport. Record Go did not honour the €400/month rate after I arrived to airport rental agent, due to only having a temporary drivers license as my original was stolen.
So I had to go to competitor Gold Car and pay a lot more €1200/month due to last minute booking!
An enterprising attorney should file a class action suit.
I completely agree with all of the negative reviews for this company. It appears to be their business model that if you don't take their insurance, they will charge against your deposit for supposed damage. I'm sure they get a percentage of people who just pay. After our Costco visa was unable to verify the damage claim they credited the charge back to us after six months. Recordgo just now sent an additional threatening email demanding payment
I did not pay 8 months after this ordeal began. I'm not sure how the laws work in Spain, but an enterprising attorney should organize a class action suit to collect damages from Recordgo and put them out of business.
DO NO RENT FROM THIS COMPANY
DO NO RENT FROM THIS COMPANY
Had I only read these reviews about Recordgo before hiring them. Total amount stolen from me €501. Barcelona airport. There appears to be a corporate culture of stealing across all offices from the reviews below and other reviews on tripadvisor.
The rental agent lied to me and told me they were taking a deposit for fuel and then charged me €108 despite returning with a full tank for which I spent €45 to fill and having a receipt to prove it.
The car had pre-existing damage of which I took photos of the but I missed a minor scuff (not damage) that I did not cause. €348. During a heated discussion with the agent he advised me I should have taken their insurance. When I told him I had third party insurance he calmly said what's the problem then just charge them. I asked to speak to his manager. He couldnt find him.
I have put the transaction into dispute with my credit card company and will be pointing them to this review site.
Someone else mentioned we should join forces. If this is something people are serious about repost your comment and we will find a way.
2,000€ charge because I used a third party insurer
I insured the car with a third party insurer instead of their own. As a result they asked me to either
a) reinsure it with them on top of the initial insurance
b) make a payment of 2,000€ that may be paid back to my account within a month.
On top of that the employee was incredibly rude. She literally handed me the keys, pointed at a car and gave 0 instructions. It was a very bad interaction. She kept confusing terms like “deposit”, “hold” and “charge” and when I pointed out that they are different things she got defensive. Overall a bad experience and I won’t ever again use this company. She was defensive all the time.
Save Yourself the Frustration
Our family had a trip planned for Valencia Spain and I made a reservation with Record Go prior to the vacation for a rental car. Unfortunately, we had to take a taxi to the counter (group of 5 with luggage) as they were NOT in the airport. At the counter, I was told that I needed to leave a deposit of nearly $2000 because my husband would be driving and not me (since I made the reservation, I would have to drive). I believe this is thievery. Went to the Hertz counter in the airport, and in a rental car in less than 30 minutes. I was not reimbursed for this non-service from Record Go ($500) You'll be much less frustrated with another rental car company. Save yourself the hassle (and the money) and don't rent from Record Go.
Legalised theft by car rental company
Had a fully paid booking with our flight details. Flight delayed by 7.5 hours. Tried phoning but no number or option goes to a person. Arrived 7 hours after booking time, tired, fed up and with a 6 months old baby to be told that after 6 hours the booking is cancelled but no refund. Daylight robbery. This fact should be highlighted and not hidden in the small print. A useful telephone number for such instances should also be provided.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - CAR SCAM.
We booked to use the car on the 31st May - 3rd June. We took videos (thank god) of the car before we left the airport. We dropped the car off in the same condition, no damage. Took another video of the drop off. We dropped our keys off and pointed out to the staff the minor damage the car had (e.g. scratches) that was already present when we picked up the car. We was told there are no issues and we will receive our deposit back in a few days.
Couple of days later we've been charged £300, no email explaining why, there is no customer phone number and we are told to send an email. We did not damage the car and have video evidence of the before and after, yet they are refusing to give us the £300 back and won't even tell us what this apparent damage is and why. We will never use this company again and the next time I'm in Palma I'll be complaining to them in person - SCAM!!
Avoid this company at all costs
I can only agree with the other reviews stating that this company scam people. In our case we've been wrongly accused of causing damage that was there when we picked the car up. Thankfully we took photos and videos to use as evidence, and since the company wouldn't remove the charge of £273, my credit card are dealing with it. A quick search on the internet will find numerous similar horror stories. We had this car booked as part of a holiday package so it wasn't our choice. Had I have known how they operate we wouldn't even have picked it up. Added to that, the confusing system they operate at Malaga airport where customers electronically sign for the car before even seeing it shouldn't be lawful.
Refused to return my legitimate request…
Refused to return my legitimate request for my 100 euro fuel charge. After countless emails and almost 3 months later they refused to return my money. My request was supported with document and photographic evidence .
Please note they also took over 8 weeks to send a official invoice to discover cars for the 500 euro charge for recovery vehicle which subsequently delayed any insurance payments. Please consider this and all other reviews before hiring a car from this company.
SCAM Company AVOID
SCAM, ALERT!!! €504 booking ended up costing me €1165. Do not use this company! They scammed us, and violated GDPR. Full details below
If you were also scammed by them, get in touch. Let’s join or forces to take them down. Don’t trust the positive reviews, they have SCAMMED A LOT of people.
Here’s how they scammed us:
1. They undercut the reliable competitors on Rentalcars.com etc to catch my business
2. The aggressively coerced me into buying their excess waiver, made it impossible to avoid
3. They refused to print contract and T&Cs before signing and they did not explain anything from their ABSURD T&Cs. I would say they took measures to prevent me from understanding what I was signing
5. They did not provide me a contract copy after signing, neither digitally or printed
6. The recorded my wife's bank card (she’s not a party to the contract) without her consent and made a fraudulent charge of 400€ on her card... which is a criminal theft
7. The tracked our location with the car, without our explicit consent
8. They caused a GDPR data breech by sending my contract to the incorrect email address (inexcusable, since I booked digitally and entered the correct email address)
9. The ignored my GDPR “Right of Access” request
All the way, from collection to delivery, to customer service they have been aggressive, unhelpful and refused to accept any fault. This company is really disgusting!! I have rented some 50 cars before and never encountered anything like this.
I feel most sorry for the employees. Get another job guys, your Mom didn't raise you to be a THIEF!
Scammed at Malaga Airport by Record Go - BEWAREnd paid in full for a…
I booked online and paid in full for a hire car to be picked up at Malaga Airport on 24 March, I also gave my flight number on the booking form in order that the rental company could track my flight in the event of a "no show" at the agreed collection time.
My flight from Luton was delayed, we boarded on time but sat on the tarmac for 90 minutes due to a strike by French ATC.
I had no signal on the plane and therefore could not contact the rental company.
I arrived at the rental desk in Malaga over 2 hours after the 10.00am collection time, only to be told, "sorry, your car is now not available and you must pay 45 Euros for another car".
I did say that they could have easily established that I would be late, but apparently they don't do that?
When I went down to the basement to collect the vehicle, there were many cars there of the same type that I had originally booked.
Very disappointed with this scam treatment, especially as I had paid in full for the rental up front.
So, my advice is, AVOID RECORD GO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SCAMMED!
Beware! Never use Record Go! Scammers
After renting a car in Palma de Mallorca through lastminute.com they ask you for 1200€ extra deposit (1100 damage plus 100€ petrol). Next day the car stops working (battery). After long hours discussing by phone (the Palma office number won’t ever work), they ask you to come back to Palma for a new car, and voilà: they ask you for another 1200€. And they even charge you for the previous car petrol!
Cheap things are really expensive. Record Go: Never again.
Please read - a 4 day rental could cost you up to €923
Before we booked, we read the reviews and were prepared for some of the hiccups, here is our honest assessment regarding an SUV we rented for 4 days and picked up at Lisbon (Portugal) airport:
There is no car pick-up at the airport, you need to take a shuttle, and there are no instructions on where to meet a delegate, we had to ask the other car rental counters actually based in the airport. Between finding a delegate, waiting and taking the shuttle this added about 30 mins to our journey.
Upon arriving at Record Go's Lisbon office (in the middle of a manufacturing district 10-15 mins away from the airport, more because of traffic), we were told that the insurance we paid via booking/expedia did not cover actual damage to the vehicle, and we needed to take a separate insurance policy out for the car. We were given 2 options:
(1) Give your credit card details with a €2,000 deposit
(2) Pay €187 upfront (nonrefundable) which would cover any damage (supposedly). We reluctantly paid the additional €187 despite already paying €45 for insurance via our booking website. We didn't trust them to hold €2,000 of our money.
The car had a massive rip in the backseat, some significant scratches in the front, we recorded everything with video and pictures and the employee chuckled and said we didn't need to worry as we bought insurance. When we returned the car, we were being interrogated about the ripped seat, thank goodness we had evidence. Make sure you take lots of videos and pictures!
The car itself was nice, a comfortable and good quality vehicle, it served its purpose.
Given the car drop-off wasn't at the airport, it took a while to return and take a shuttle to the airport, and there was heavy traffic. We planned with ample time ahead and despite this had limited time to check in/they were already started boarding for our flight.
Overall costs for a 4 day rental:
€284 car rental
£52 car insurance via booking website (didn't actually cover you for anything, and we can't get a refund)
€187 insurance via Record Go (again, we were only informed of this at the car pick-up)
€100 - €400 additional for fuel charge deposit and toll booths deposit (if you're planning to travel around Portugal there are toll roads and they give you a digital box which automatically pays when you pass a toll).
Our total cost (depending on how many tolls and fuel level when we dropped off the car) would be up to €923.
You are better off paying more upfront for the car rental cost + insurance at Hertz, or any of the other big providers who have actual desks at Lisbon airport, and account for all of the costs above. You will save between €300-500 for a similar rental.
We would not recommend this company to anyone, I can see why people think it is a scam. If you are trying to travel on a budget and have limited reserves, please do not trust this company as it could end up in some serious financial hardship.
Terrible customer relations
Terrible customer relations. Staff act like they don't want to work. Fuel policy is theft. Avoid at all costs. Other car rentals have similar prices, better cars and appropriate attitude.
Avoid RecordGO
I rented a car from Malaga and everything was fine until my credit card got charged $ 860 for "damage". They only provided a receipt after I blocked the charges through my credit card. Luckily I have photo evidence of some scratches that were present when I picked up the car. I was told only to report dents and long scratches but apparently the story changed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
