I wish I could give negative stars...
I bought this travel insurance to cover a trip to take my terminally ill sister to the beach for what would probably be her last birthday ever.
I had to cancel the trip when the condo rental company let me know that the elevator wasn't working, because my sister is unable to walk up the stairs. I was very clear when I rented the condo that an elevator was a necessity.
Red Sky denied my initial claim AND the appeal citing that we knew about the illness in advance. We did know about the illness in advance, which is why I said we could ONLY rent a place with an elevator. Obviously Red Sky is a scam company that only takes your money has no intention of ever paying out. Don't use their services!

My experience was positive
I had a couple issues with the documentation uploading process (my own error) and the customer service representative was very pleasant and helpful in getting things straightened out. Any email correspondence was prompt and I was kept updated in regard to the status of my claim. The claim was paid quickly.

If I could give a ZERO star rating for Red Sky Travel Insurance, I would! Our Outer Banks vacation home CAUGHT ON FIRE people!! We were awakened at 3am by my niece running around that house pounding on everyone's door and yelling at the house was on fire and we needed to get out now! It was an electrical fire that broke out in the attic above my sister's bedroom suite. She was drifting in and out of sleep, but she kept hearing crackling and smelling smoke. My niece was restless, and happened to be awake (thank God). Once they figured out what was going on, it was a flurry of activity getting everyone out. One of our family members is a quadriplegic, and this was his first vacation in 15 years. This experience was terrifying for all of us!! The fire chief told us...just a few more minutes, and the entire first floor would've been engulfed in flames. We made it out just in time!! Not only did we lose some things to water and smoke damage, we were all traumatized :'(
17 of us...our entire family... it could've wiped us out completely! We claimed $8,856 for our trip. After more than 30 days of waiting (and sending them a ridiculous amount of receipts for everything they asked us for), they just let us know they're going to pay $1,174....What the?!?!? . I'm floored!!

As stated in your explanation of benefits, travel insurance will reimburse you, up to the maximum benefits amount shown in the schedule of benefits, for unused, prepaid, nonrefundable payments or deposits for your vacation rental. Therefore, only the unused nights at the vacation rental are covered for a trip interruption claim, not the entire trip.
In regards to the damaged items, insurance policies, including travel insurance policies, generally have maximum benefits outlined in the policy. These are outlined in your policy made available to you prior to and after your policy purchase. Links to your policy were included in your confirmation of benefit email and accessible 24/7 on the rental property website. Your claim was paid in full up to the maximum benefits pursuant to the policy. Because your claimed expenses exceeded the maximum benefits outlined in your policy, amounts in excess of the maximum benefits were denied.
