Deceitful removal company

We hired this removal company to move from the UK to the South East of France but the level of service we received has not been fulfilled.
Basically the move was planned for Wednesday 6th July and by lunchtime, the situation got out of control. The two vans couldn't hold all our contents so we got in touch with Simpsons Removals office who charged us a hefty fee of £2,800 for an extra 3rd van which still wasn't sufficient, the team of movers were rushed, neglectful and started stacking our belongings haphazardly. The men of the 3d van were rude and didn't fill their van entirely. We ended up having to leave a few goods behind such as a chest freezer, a gas bqq, a dozen of large clay pots, a printer, a microwave.
The agreement we had was for the vans to arrive to our new home in France on Friday 8th July. After many chaser calls to the office to try and figure out where our belongings were gone, we received a call from the delivery men late evening on Saturday 9th July that they were on their way. They left at midnight. The last batch was delivered on Tuesday 20th July, again very late evening (after travelling across Spain apparently!).
I should also point out that communication with :
-the office got difficult because they started ignoring our emails and phone calls as soon as issues cropped in. They would not return our calls or answer our emails (before the day of the move, office staff were rather friendly and insisting they had it all under control)
-the men on site got tedious as their level of English was poor. We had to exchange in Spanish on the Saturday night. We also seemed under the impression that the teams of movers were hired by a third party and not directly by Simpsons Removals.

From the scarce bits of information we received, we are under the impression that our goods have been moved from three small vans when they departed from the UK to a much larger truck to cross the border to smaller vans again before being delivered to us.
All in all, quite a lot of our items have been damaged in transit (dents, scratches, twists etc) and some have become unusable since there are missing pieces.
Also, we opted for the additional 'dismantling/reassembling' service at £400, but all our items were unloaded into our garage and none were reassembled.

When we chased Simpsons Removals office about the whereabouts of our items, we asked once to be put in touch with their company director (name available at open gov uk website - company: 13446070 ) but the office employee didn't seem to recognise that name, instead he made fun of our request. A member of the office staff is apparently the manager but they wouldn't provide any surnames to us. Another important point to mention here is that Simpsons Removals is not registered with any accredited professional removal company bodies such as bar.co.uk . Their company name is also not clear, they trade under the name ' Simpsons Removals LTD
Company number: 13446070' but their website is removalss co uk and their logo here on trustpilot is 'finest removals'.
Since 20th July, we have attempted to contact them several times about the issues we encountered with them but they have ignored us. We have listed to them all the items that got damaged with the precise details of the damage along with photographs, value of each item and original receipts . We have also asked Simpsons Removals to refund us for the re-assembly service that they didn't fulfill. To date, they have turned a deaf ear on us, we hope though that they will revise their positions and address their misconduct.

NIGHTMARE

Having had initial conversations with Simpsons regarding our move, we decided to go with Simpsons, what
a massive this mistake this was.
We sent 42 images of every item that was to be collected and moved into storage, more conservations with these jokers who assured us that transport would be provided with 10% extra capacity for our possessions at a quote of £700.00. When the vehicle arrived on the day, we could easily see that it would not be large enough, which was also confirmed by the driver. We then had to have an additional van at the cost of £1000.00 to ourselves. When we arrived at our storage unit, the unloading stopped, then a phone call from Simpsons demanding a further £570.00 to complete the unloading holding our possessions as ransom. The total coming to £2270.
Professionals they are not, They hold you to ransom and take advantage to extort money from you without any compassion, driven by greed and not providing an honest service at all.

Look elsewhere for removals.

We had an international move booked with SR and its started ok. Very attentive to emails etc. A 3rd party collected our belongings, not simpsons, said they would store them until we got to Spain. Once in spain we were whatsapp from a mobile asking to deliver our goods. On the day of delivery we had to chase for time slots which kept changing, it ended up being delivered at 1am by again 3rd party, not simpsons. We had extreme damage to furniture, full of dirt and dust. We had items missing which we have to write off never getting back. I emailed our contact at simpsons who simply ignored our emails. They may have a decent website and start off well but they definitely let us down. If we had paid just a little more we could of gone with a more reputable firm. Saving a bit of cash isn't saving at all when you have to fix and replace your goods. Since this review, I received an email asking if I would like yo discuss my experience due to what had happened. I replied and said possibly if something will be done, as I didn't just want to talk it over. Needless to say we've not heard from Simpsons again.

I would give more stars

I would give more stars, if I could!

Great team, super helpful and friendly. Made the whole process really easy and didn’t have one issues.

Only booked 2 weeks before and very accommodating.

Removal team were great. It’s was a large move, they worked hard and quickly. All furniture and boxes while put exactly where I wanted them. And NO damage!

Great experience, and completely stress free!

After 8 weeks 4 days out of the blue a driver appeared with 3 outstanding items no call to say he was come but never the less we have the items but still no sign of my Fosters beer fridge.After being asked to give Simpsons more information ie a reference number and an invoice number still no one has come back to me it's now 9 weeks since we left out furniture in the not so safe hands of Smpsond removels LTD

Highly recommend!

We used Simpsons Removals recently and we were so impressed at how quick and efficient the guys were. They took such good care with all our belongings and kept us up to date with all communications. The customer care was just brilliant. Would highly recommend.

Move from London to Paris

After getting many quotes from different removalists - Simpsons were by far the best price. I spoke many times with Adam (case handler) and he was able to understand our complicated requirements and manage the process from start to finish. Will use again and recommend.

Super professional, super quick, just so so pleased!

Just moved into our new home with Simpsons Domestic removals. Could not be more pleased with the speed and professionalism of Alex and Andrej. Patient, friendly and hard working team

Cannot fault the team's patience and hard work. 30 degrees, 3 men, 2 vans and a semi detached house moving to a detached!
On the day of the move we still had no confirmation that we actually going to move from the solicitors but the guys patiently waited until midday when we finally knew for sure. They then worked until 6 to get the move done with not a scratch on items (although that could be down to our own excellent packing), and all items arrived. The team were friendly, polite, and understood our situation, and even though we had to pay a little more due to having them for over 5 hours, it was worth it.

Avoid

Avoid. No idea where our things are, should have been delivered 2 weeks ago. Very concerned the company is not legitimate.
*** on leave, spoke to **, passed on a Spanish number which is UK mobile, still no luck. Messaged on their Facebook profile but no response. Very concerning please use a different company.

Two small children expected to sleep on the hard floor for 3 weeks as our furniture has still not been delivered. No sign of any formal 'insurance' they should have or empathy, compassion or compensation. We are thousands out of pocket.

Fantastic

2 guys turned up on time, cracked on with the job efficiently, tidy, labelled everything up, very respectful, nothing broke or lost. Was competitive + clear pricing. Will definitely be using again next time

Really pleased with the service

Really pleased with the service. We called so many removals with only a week’s notice we were turned away by many, but Simpsons came through. They were great from start to finish. The team that arrived were very thorough, careful with our possessions, and broke down the furniture that was needed and built it back up when we arrived at the new house. The whole process put us at ease and we couldn’t have done it without them. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for removals.

We used Simpsons to move our stuff from London to Spain

We used Simpsons to move our stuff from London to Spain a month ago and I highly recommend this company. Adam was great to deal with and so were the guys who came to the flat in London to move our stuff and the delivery guys in Spain were great too. A great experience overall and much more affordable than the orher prices I was quoted by other companies.

Beware of quotations and pretend good intentions - look elsewhere

After several house moves I knew what I needed to get right: to provide as much information to the removal company as possible to avoid complications on the move day. That is exactly what I did.

You may provide them with as much detail of the number of items you want to ship as you may think, including photos and a couple of phone calls to go through everything in detail. And you would normally think that suffices. That was basically my job and I delivered: I was 100% transparent after around 5 exchanges including phone calls, photos and email explanations.

Their job was to provide a quotation based on my list.

However, they waited until they had my house in their depot to inform me THEY had made a mistake in their quote and on THEIR calculation of how much volume my items would mean, but it was MY responsibility to pay twice as much.

They could have accepted it was 100% their mistake calculating the volume and something I had no control of once I had shared everything with them. Alternatively, they could have said something when loading the van, for example. But it sure was more convenient to make the phone call when I had no other option than accepting their demand of 100% quote increase in ransom. Not 10%, not 50%: 100% more.

My advice is to not fall for any pseudo-gentle explanations beforehand about how trustworthy they are because, if they have the option to take advantage of you, they will do it.

Moving is always stressful and all you expect is the removal company to honour their contract.

My genuine advice is look elsewhere.

I just wanted to have the opportunity to reply to your alleged claims.
I have spent some time listening to all of the calls between you and the agent and reading all of the information/images supplied by yourself on the emails.

You have admitted that you have had this occur on 4 previous occasions before, as any removal company can only quote on the evidence supplied by the customer, they are not in control of what is supplied by yourself, you are.
It is the customers responsibility to supply all of the items to be moved and not an estimated list, you did admit on 2 occasions that you knew there were items you didnt tell them about, especially when a list was presented to you on the call. Baby seats, Cot/bed, extra boxes, extra plastic containers and so on.
The agent did make an error and very quickly corrected it and apologised for that, you did indeed only supply items to a maxium of 9 m3, when we collected it there was 21 m3 an increase of 12 m3 (133% additionally of items and contents) not 10%, not 50% and not 100%, but 133%.
The inventory is very important for two reasons, as it was explained to you many times.
1) To supply Customs a full and comprehensive list of items to be moved as they have strict guidelines.
2) Also for Insurance purposes.
You seemed to flaunt this completely and decided to chance your arm as you did admit that if that was the case I would have binned the items.
You were not as transparent as you think you were, you were asked on 2 occasions that in the first picture "what is going?" you replied "only the 2 TV's" then when you admitted that they were all to go as it seems that there is a
common demoninator here and it isnt Simpsons Removals or the previous companies you stated to have the same issue with.
There was not an error in any of the calculations from Simpsons that hadnt been corrected already.
We could have charged in proportion to the volume, but we didnt, we did give you 2 options.
1) An additional fee to take the items to Spain.
2) Or we would return the additional capacity to you at a much smaller fee.
You, yourself decided to have all of the items taken to Spain.
You had full control of this, not us.
We have moved 1000's of customers in the UK and to Europe and we have had this happen once before where the customer didnt supply all of the inventory.
We have 1000's of happy customers who supply the correct information.
Moving is stressful I agree, but the only person who has taken advantage is you!! not us or the previous companies you stated took advantage of you.
