Legit service but needs improvement.
First RentingCarz is a legit service, their support is reactive and you can talk with them using a chat on their website. They have proper humans responding and they seem willing to work around any problem we may have. I give them a full point for that, although I did go through some staff responding me in a different language every now and then, or responding with generic answers. Most of the time they did fine.
BUT their website is a bit messy, we don't have a proper profile once logged in, the web pages loading often gets stuck, and the payment process is messy.
I had to try many times to pay because my card wouldn't get accepted, going through support chat several times to see what was going on. As suspected this was a problem from my bank and not rentingcarz. But even after paying with a different card that worked, it did take quite a bit of time and a couple of errors in between. So definitely not a smooth process at all. Several hours later, I finally got a confirmation number and with this number I can check the status of my reservation on the website.
Update end of July 2025 :
In the end I was able to rent the car as planned at the Budget rental agency in Paris airport, and everything went fine, so another point for that.
Update February 10th 2026 : Another (very) problematic point (I remove 2 here until I can prove it wasn't RentingCarz fault but Budget) is that my contact information (my postal address or email address) wasn't correctly transmitted to Budget (or saved by Budget, I can't say which one is at fault).
I got caught by an automatic radar for (slightly) speeding in Switzerland and the fine never reached me properly. I was able to realize I received it because I saw a payment in February 2026 on my bank account to Avis Rent-a-car 7 months after the rental period (which was in July 2025). I used the confirmation number to check the invoice on the website of Budget. It is only the payment of the charges due to the processing of my fine, not the fine itself which was supposed to reach me by postal mail but never did (the cost was 35 euros just for the processing charges by Budget which isn't cheap...)
From the Budget invoice and what they told me on phone, the reason seems to be that the address transmitted to them (or the one they erroneously kept) is an address in Panama to an entity called LatinCarz LLC (which is apparently the company behind RentingCarz) and not my address. So the swiss police probably sent the fine to Panama instead of my place...
I got aware of this 7 months later so hopefully I can pay the normal fare and not an increased fine... Both RentingCarz and Budget are supposedly working on it but I have contacted the Swiss police by myself for now...
Update February 12th 2026 : I contacted Swiss police myself and I was able to pay the fine at its normal price (they acknowledged the fact that I paid it late because of the rental service). In the meantime RentingCarz and Budget both opened a case about my problem and told me I should receive the fine soon (which doesn't matter anymore). I also got a discount for the next time I use RentingCarz. I will give back 1 star here so 3/5
