Report My Loss is used by thousands of people each month to securely and conveniently submit details of lost items, from phones and laptops to jewellery and bikes. It can surprise people that Report My Loss is not publicly funded and why there is a fee for the service. Lost property reporting is not a statutory duty of policing, so many constabularies no longer undertake it. When you create a new loss report, it is placed on a secure database (the police NMPR system). The lost item can then be searched by police and lost property offices nationally, increasing the chances of recovered items being identified and returned to you. In the event of needing to make an insurance claim, Report My Loss certificates can normally be used in place of police loss report references (which many forces have phased out). Report My Loss should only be used for accidental losses. If a theft has taken place, this should instead be reported to the police force for the area in which the crime took place. They will be able to provide you with a crime reference number.

Not user friendly

Not user friendly. How can you suppose a tourist to report a loss especially money in this way?
The reporting thing is required to provide its serial number to register. How can I provide the serial number of money? I don't think people will mark down money note number normally!
It is helpless to a tourist.
I am totally disappointed with your country.
A very bad arrangement.

Charge for listing

I was told to use Report My Loss by Thames Valley Police as we don’t have a police station in our town any more and our nearest doesn’t take info re lost property.
As I’d ‘lost’ (possibly pick pocketed?) a necklace after collecting it up from repair I wanted to do something in case it was found other than posting on local Facebook groups.
Was more than miffed to find I can’t register that loss for free and have to pay!

A good concept

A good concept. The website is easy to navigate and intuitive. However I think they ask for to much personal information. Home address, phone, email. Just An email would be good enough.

Lost keys

Generally very easy to use but location was my stumbling block - every description I could think of giving the loss site (a Council Park) was not recognised so I was unable to complete the form.

An Easy Access Service.

By using “Report My Loss” it enabled me to get the ball rolling in processing an insurance claim, whilst hoping that someone would find my lost item and report it to a police station.
