Horrible security & staff as usual.

Rexall Jasper Ave 108st. Edmonton. No matter if you're Caucasian, a senior...or whoever walks in the store.. ..security & one staff member in particular follow you around & LOUDLY ask if you need help finding something. Horrible shopping experience today & I'm not the only customer if you look at Google. I'm a former loss prevention officer & this isn't how you do security. This place is losing customers as they should be, going on too long...for many months if not a year. Not returning & spending my money elsewhere.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

They can provide salient information and use common sense when it comes to their craft. READ what's on the packaging...
ic
I don't post a lot but this one raised my ire. I couldn't find anywhere else to leave a review or file a complaint.
I had purchased a Shingrix shot in September 2024 from @Rexallpharmacy on Henderson Highway, with an expiry of February 2025. I have had shingles which subsequently caused Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. At the time of purchase I informed them I wouldn't be using it until a later date as I was feeling the effects of RHS, which is extremely debilitating. I had called the pharmacy yesterday to check on having it administered today and they confirmed they could do it today. When I arrived they stated that the product was 'too old' as it had been purchased (at their location) and they couldn't administer it and I'd have to buy a new one (cash grab!). I reminded them of what they had said at the time of purchase as well as the expiry date (clearly marked on the outside of the box, 02 2025) and that it had been stored in the refrigerator per their instructions so would be good to use. They refused to administer it. I can't believe how much stupidity exists at almost every level of service and supply, even amongst 'professionals'. Being nice doesn't cut it anymore. Ensuring you have the correct information and following direction as provided by the 'professionals' apparently doesn't work either. Where have we gotten to? Where are we headed? Absolutely ludicrous! If I'd been willing to spend another $150.00 for a fresh shot, it would have not been an issue. Makes me angry!!!
That's my rant..

I normally don't write reviews…

I normally don't write reviews regarding services but in this case. I feel I should.
So... I will start out by stating I'm a healthcare worker. I have asthma and my doctor must have forgot to send a ventallin prescription refill. I know my regular pharmacy would fill it without a prescription but being new years day...it was closed. I had an mild asthma attack this morning but subdued it the best I could with hot fluids and oregano. I was hoping to make it until tomorrow so I could go to a clinic and not inconvenience 911 or hospital services for people that had extreme emergencies.Clinics are closed so my options were limited. Hospital or 911. I called 911 and apologized for calling the emergency service. After explaining the situation they informed me that ventallin is a emergency medication and a pharmacy can dispense it at their discretion. Now. I used to use Rexall in Barrie at 567 essa road for over 5 years. I loved the staff and the manager Nathan was always great to me. I used to bring tim Hortons and even a chicken diner for the staff on one occasion. That's how happy I was with their service. I decided to go there. After explaining everything to Nathan. He explains he can't issue ventallin to me. His exact words were it's up to the pharmacist discretion which I understand. I breathed loudly so he could hear my byblasma crackle in my lungs. Clearly any healthcare worker would hear the distress.
Luckily there was a symbicort prescription on file but anyone who has asthma should know that ventallin is the only medication that will help immediately.
I'm not sure if pharmacists sign an oath like doctors to help people in need but Nathan clearly didn't.
Nathan....I have never been so disgusted with healthcare service. You should be ashamed to be a pharmacist!!!!
I will never use rexall again I will make sure to share this story with everyone I know that uses rexall as well. I understand this was an uncomfortable request to ask under the circumstances but clearly I needed ventallin.
What is wrong with our healthcare. When a pharmacist can't help someone that is in distress. Or did you just not believe me Nathan. Either way, it was disgusting and shameful!
Stay away from Rexall in Barrie on essa road. I had a repore and I wasn't a stranger with them and this is how I was treated. The ironic thing was, I had the same situation a few years back and Nathan helped me then.
Where's the consistent healthcare approach!!!!!

Concerns

A few comments - a delay in filling my prescription was incurred due to voicemails not being picked up by staff, when I questioned if this was correct, I was advised that was not correct, and that the incorrect number was being used by the Dr, I later received advice that voicemails were not being picked up, and therefore the filling of my prescription was delayed.

As well, I registered to receive text/vmail updates when my prescription was ready for pick up, I receive these updates inconsistently.

Lastly, my filled prescriptions are rarely easily located….

Rexall Pharmacy at 1113-1115 Wilson…

Rexall Pharmacy at 1113-1115 Wilson Ave, Downsview, Ontario, M3M 1H2, has 2 excellent pharmacists/managers - Shagufta and Seham, but only when they are available. They are absolutely overworked and cannot manage the influx of customers. Long waits for their excellent service/support. For a quick question about medication, there is no point of telephoning as you can be on hold for more than an hour. Long wait at the pharmacy counter too. This Rexall Owner needs to employ more pharmacists!!!!! The current 2 pharmacists intensive and extensive knowledge is attracting way too many clients for the current abilities of staff. They need more computer systems and more staff if they want to carry on this popular business. During flu vaccine season, it is horrendous to be served. The 2 employees mentioned will get PTSD soon. It is inhuman to pile so much work on the one pharmacist on duty at any time.

If I could have given a zero

If I could have given a zero, I would. Absolute garbage from the moment I entered. I do not like Rexall in general but Rexall Ajax on Westney is garbage. No customer service, lack of etiquette, very accusatory. Never again! Shoppers or Walmart or anywhere else.

Went to drop off prescription for antibiotics. Was told it would take a minimum of 1.5 hrs. Always the same at this pharmacy (Rexall outpatient pharmacy at ACH). Staff doesn't seem to care when you decide to walk away. Hire more staff so you can tell ppl "your prescription will be ready in 15 minutes." That's how other pharmacies do it ! Will not fill any prescription at this pharmacy going forward.

Selling expired product

Selling expired product. Here is how they justify it:

We received a response from the team, and they have clarified that, per SOP, if an exact day is not listed, the expiry date should be inferred as the end of the month— in this case, September 30, 2024. And you are still selling this? Waiting for the last day of September????? This is why a markdown coupon has been applied to the product (yes, from $63 to $57 - ridiculous). The vendor has also confirmed that it is indeed an expiry date, and the product remains valid until the end of the month.

This product expiry date says: September 2024 ALREADY IN THE EXPIRY MONTH.

Old inexperienced operator I went to the drive through window to…

I went to the drive through window to get my meds and the old dude couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear him, he left and I didn't know why. I re- pressed the button for service and he came back, this time I think he could hear me but I still couldn't hear him, I said loudly to take my health card and give me what I needed. I don't know what I might have said but I still wasn't pissed at him but a minute later he comes to the window and tells me he won't give me my script because I swore at him. As far as I'm concerned, I never said any derogatory slurs to him. I'm finished with this place, I only used this place because it was a great location. I hope it goes under

worst pharmacy in Calgary, lack of education and system thinking

This is the worst pharmacy in Calgary. This is probably my 7th visit, and there has been an issue every single time without fail. Either they send a message without having the medication in stock, or they promise the wrong timing—this has happened 5 times in a row. I don't know what basic system problem they have, but the staff clearly lack the proper training to work and process prescriptions. I also wonder if they even have the right education!

Pharmacist: 1 rating other staff: 5

Asked a simple question to the pharmacist as to what she would recommend for a B12 supplement. The replied (without any smile), have you looked on the shelves, and replied yes, but I would like to know which one you would recommend, she then replied, the ones over there with the green cap. A month prior, I went at the same location and dealt with another pharmacist, this one replied, I cannot help you, I have 4 customers to assist. Did not bother to give me a time frame for when she will be able to assist me. This store is located on Derry street in Mississauga. If you want to experience a good customer service, go elsewhere like I will now do.

New girl at the post office acting bizarre. Zero customer service skills and apparently being nice is seen as strange by these people. They should be taught how to smile and behave in public because when you serve the public, there's a way you need to behave and its not about you.... (Walkley branch in Ottawa)

last Straw…

Received a voice mail from an anonymous Rexall pharmacy worker with a hard to understand message about a prescription from January (this was on June 11). Turns out when I got my prescription filled in January they only filled half in two separate orders and left the other half sitting there for 6 months without attempting to contact me. Also, every time I fill a prescription they fail to properly apply my health insurance and I have to spend at least 10 minutes explaining this and have them redo the billing. On another occasion my insurance was cut off because they sent Rexall a form for Pharmacare that needed updating and they sat on it for 6 months until my insurance was cut off. Turned out I had filled the form correctly years ago and had a copy at home. Informed the insurance company to deal with me directly not Rexall. Booked an appointment for a Flu shot last year and sat waiting while they filled prescriptions assembly line style. There was no one in front of me. got up and left and got a shot at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have had several billing issues over the years with Rexall making mistakes on my insurance coverage that had to be reimbursed at a later date by sending in receipts. I have been a customer for over 28 years but the inconvenience of the constant errors no longer makes it not worth driving the extra five minutes to Shoppers Drug Mart.

Should be called “Wrecks All”

Absolute worst selection and highest prices of any store. I don’t know who the target demographic is supposed to be. Rich (unhealthy) morons whose vehicles happened to break down in the Rexall parking lot? Absolutely zero reason to go here. I’m sure it won’t be long before the whole company is up for sale again. Who would actually want to hang on to this gong show of a business?
