Richardson,s boating holiday

This is the seventh time I've been on holiday on the broads with Richardson,s and yet to have any problems from the time of checking in to checking out. Obviously you must remember the price you pay will reflect on the size of boat and overall decor and refinements. But hey I've had the cheapest and also middle of the range and still had a fabulous time. Only one down side is the beds are a slight bit small but hey you only sleep??? 😉😉in them but they do get bigger the more you pay.
Richardson,s staff from front desk to the chaps and girls in the front Line well done (keep it up)
I will not hesitate to recommend Richardson,s to anyone.

As you mention, we do have a range of boats at different price points to suit most needs and budgets. None the less, I was pleased to read you have still enjoyed your holidays on some of our budget boats. Berths on boats do tend to be smaller than a bed you would perhaps have at home due to space constraints on board.

low bridges suck !

the Richardsons staff are great,the instruction is thorough and the boat was well equipped.
My only dissappointment was the lack of warning that getting moored up,even out of season,is a complete bunfight and if you havn't got that spot by midday.then you aint gonna.Also if you want to go bayond the potter heigham bridge,any boat larger than a lilo aint getting there,similar at Wroxham.
Most of this can be put down to my lack of experience,but if that information was available to me before booking,it may have affected my choice of holiday.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your kind comments regarding the team here at Richardson's. I was pleased to read you felt our trial runs are thorough and that the cruisers are well equipped.

I was sorry to read of your disappointment in regarding to mooring in the Broads. I fully appreciate that popular spots within the Broads can fill up very quickly and this can be frustrating. As you mention, it is advisable to secure your mooring spot early to ensure you get to visit the area you would like to.

At high water, it may not be possible for any boat to pass under Potter Heigham or Wroxham bridge. In our brochure, there will be a note if the boat will not pass under a certain bridge at all. We have included information in our 2018 Richardson's Boating Holiday brochure to help guests with this further before booking. Alternatively, we have a 'First Timers' section on our website with information regarding bridges, as well as some of our customer's top tips and our FAQs.

Our bookings team are happy to answer any questions you may have before your holiday, however I can appreciate that at times these questions may arise whilst you are on board your cruiser. This is why we include our Captain's Manual and a copy of our Welcome Aboard guide, and you are always welcome to call us.

Excellent service and very friendly staff and always seem happy to help. Our boat was slightly older and very out of date we would love to try one of their r45 boats next time, hopefully when the price comes down a little. We love the broads and always use Richardsons

Our first time on a boat, but Richardsons made it an easy and enjoyable experience.

First time out is a definite learning experience, (especially the mooring!), but we had great fun, and armed with our new found knowledge we will be back next year!

september 2017

i went with richardsons as a child with my family nearly 30 years ago so decided being my first uk holiday as an adult, with my family we holidayed with richardsons in september, and from arrival had excellent customer service, with friendly helpul staff. boat was good and adequate, we stayed for 5 nights, and on return the level of customer service was as good as the start. also very welcoming, we have already booked up for 2018 and are counting down the days cant wait!!

Helpful and friendly staff from arrival …

Helpful and friendly staff from arrival to departure a very professional outfit, and lots of local knowledge of where to go and places to eat and drink. Full instruction on how to use the boat even for novices as we were, will definitely be back again

Booked short break at discount end of …

Booked short break at discount end of season prices. Very good value for money. The boat we had was not luxurious but met our expectations for the price that we paid. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would book again without hesitation.

Boat had seen better days

Boat had seen better days - television never worked - radio only intermittently - wi-fi never worked.Battery did not maintain charge, even when engine was run for 8 hours.
Bedding was difficult to fit on bunks as the bottom sheet did not seem big enough and slipped on the mattress.

First time boating

Had an amazing first boating holida, it certainly won’t be the last, already booked for next year. The only minus point was the training given, the instruction on mooring up wasn’t how it happens in reality. We worked it out eventually.

I was sorry to read, however, that you felt the instructions given on mooring during your trial run were inaccurate. We aim to tailor our trial runs for our guests based on their experience, however I can appreciate that it may have been a bit more challenging as it was your first boating holiday. We do provide Captains Manuals on board all of our cruisers for guests which has more information, as well as our Welcome Aboard guide which features tips on how to moor.

I understand your concerns in regards to smoking on the cruisers. We do strongly advise customers to please smoke outside of the boat only, for instance in the forward well or rear well. However, as I'm sure you can appreciate, this is something that is quite hard to enforce once guests leave the boatyard.

I would recommend when calling to make your booking with us in future mentioning this to our friendly bookings team may be able to help further with this!

We slipped through the net but Richardsons were still very accommodating.

Arriving at the yard on the Monday afternoon to find ourselves being the only customers to be going out of Richardsons seemed a bit strange at first , only to be told that Hoseasons had mistakenly taken our booking because the season had now closed . However , Richardsons had agreed to honour it , in fact the man on reception seemed quite delighted for us and was very helpful . Then we were informed that our boat had been returned damaged and they were going to upgrade us to the newer version but it had to be cleaned first . The yard manager said it would be about forty five minutes and also gave us some money to get some coffee while we waited which was very nice of him.
So we set sail in Commodore 3 .which I must say is a very impressive boat , we had so many positive comments about it whilst we were moored up. We had a fantastic week out on a relatively empty broads and the weather was on our side too.
On returning the boat , the staff were still very professional and friendly ,and I can honestly say the whole experience was the best one yet . The only downside we now have is the fact our school half term dates are now in the Richardsons closed season so we will have to use another boat yard.

Top Drawer Service from the Richardson's crew.

I can't recommend Richardson's highly enough. It's not just the stunning scenery of Norfolk and the gentle pace of boating on the Broads, but the excellent staff. Everyone we met treated us in a friendly and professional way. I work in customer service for a large, forest-based, holiday company so I have an idea of what staff have to deal with.

Their customer service was truly put to the test when we had an accident in the boat on our last day. I felt like a right chump, but everyone who dealt with the incident was reassuring and took pains not to make me feel worse than I already felt.

They were also excellent with my daughter who dropped her phone overboard shortly after.

Now it might sound like our holiday was turning into a disaster, but the care we received from the staff at Richardson's turned it round and left us eager to return, if they will have us!
