Great products, fantastic service
I'm really pleased with the system I've ended up with, and the service was fantastic.
I'd researched what I was looking for over several months, and phoned Richer Sounds in Birmingham asking for a demo of the kit. All of the kit options I was looking at are at the budget end of hifi equipment, but some of it "starter" kit, and some a step or so up. Sam answered the phone (and helped me throughout), and it was really easy to book the demo.
The demo was incredibly helpful. The demo room is bound to have different acoustics from your rooms at home, but you can get a very good idea of the capabilities of the equipment and their differences. Sam allowed me to listen to some absolutely awesome equipment as well as the "starter" and "step-up" kit that is in my budget, so I could listen to the differences and get a feel for good vs great sound.
Sam set everything up and spent ages helping us: fabulous service. He also listened really carefully to my comments about the kit, and chose and brought in a few alternatives for me to listen to, including many items and combinations I hadn't even thought of in my research.
When it came to totting up the price, Richer Sounds were willing to stick to their promise to price match. I found one key item of the system that I'd decided on at a discounted price on the internet. I just provided evidence to Richer Sounds: that was enough. There was no other discount but, really, that's fair enough isn't it, given the incredible service? As customers we really should be willing to pay a bit for that kind of service.
I ended up sticking with the "step up" amplifier that I'd had in mind all along (from Cambridge Audio) and a pair of DALI speakers. I've had the amp for a week, and the speakers arrived a few days ago (within the time-frame that Sam led me to expect).
I'm utterly delighted with the system. Such amazing clarity and detail, and beautiful deep bass, but all held in balance. Should have done this years ago.

As always my wife and myself impressed with the friendliness, courtesy and helpfulness of the staff, who always go out of their way to give information to 'non-experts' such as ourselves in an informative, non-patronising manner. Past experiences, including after sales care, have meant that Richer Sounds has always been our first, and usually only, port of call for electrical goods and our recent experience will ensure this remains the case.

Headphone Heaven
Although only 2 in stock of my shortlist of hi-fi headphones, I had demo'd some elsewhere and knew enough to favour one of those available for audition. Clifford was a casebook good salesman, not pressurising in any way but evidently taking a personal interest in my search, so he set up an immediate comparative audition and left me to my own time to draw conclusions using my favoured music types which he sourced.I was therefore able to reach a decision and bought one pair even receiving an unscripted discount.Only a chair would have improved the experience, but a very positive visit overall. The range of makers' equipment would benefit from being more comprehensive-not just headphones-but for this purchase 5 stars is well deserved and the 'phones are just perfect (for the highly competitive price on offer).

Made some enquiries via telephone speaking to Cliff about a Yamaha 5:1 system before visiting the shop. Cliff was very informative and helpful. I arrived at the shop and it was very busy and Cliff was with another customer. I was approached by another member of staff. His name was Rehan who was equally as informative and helpful.I can't commend the customer service highly enough it was the best experience I've had in along time. My set up is now complete and I'm really happy with my product choices some of which was recommended by Rehan and he obviously as great knowledge as my 5:1 set up sounds great. 5 stars across the board. Will I be visiting the shop again? Yes definitely as I intend to purchase a pair of front presence speakers to complete my atmos surround. And now after experiencing my new Yamaha RX-A670 I'll have to update my old onkyo receiver in the living room. So I'll be back again soon. Thanks guys for your excellent customer service.

I needed to return and exchange a pair of SoundMagic E10C earphones for a pair of E11 earphones. I’m sure a lot of other stores would not allow you to do this but it was no problem for Richer Sounds Birmingham.
They did it with no fuss and I’m very happy with my replacement earphones.
