I was asked to give full details for food allergies and they were not adhered to by the airline and the japanese restaurant in Tokyo because the full list was not forwarded to the necessary parties by the travel company The trip to Japan involved too many visits to temples and shrines not enough time to explore. Two temples in one day was too much and many older travellers found the agenda too tiring. Now into the 6th month since the trip and my airmiles have not been credited. The company has insisted that i must follow up this myself yet they made the group booking. I dont find this acceptable. I have contacted ANA who now blames my airmile company. Honestly why do travel companies bother to ask for all these details when they are obviously not followed up correctly. I will never use their company again as they cant be trusted.
Whenever I phone Riviera Travel, I always speak with a very enthusiastic and helpful person. I have recently booked my third holiday with this company and I have always been completely satisfied with the booking procedure and had fantastic holidays.
I wanted to book a retirement / 60th combined special holiday. All members of staff of Riviera Travel that I have interacted with to discuss my holiday requirements have been knowledgeable, professional and exceptionally helpful. Through their help I have easily managed to book what I wanted for the holiday which I'm sure will be as equally an enjoyable experience
Phone booking. Had started a booking online but found I had a number of questions and decided to ring the next day instead. Before I managed to do so, the Riviera system had flagged my online activity and I received a phone call from them! (As a previous traveller, my number would have been in their files)
The phone call answered my queries and the booking was made smoothly by Lilly. I had asked for a door-door taxi quote and Lilly emailed this to me afterwards within 15 minutes.
I have travelled with Riviera on both land tours and river cruises and have always found them to be friendly, helpful and organised as a company. They are able to put interesting itineraries together which aren’t too taxing but which cover essential sights and which use good accommodation. They also seem to be able to employ good guides and tour managers.
They still have the ‘family feel’ which they had originally when it was a family owned company despite now being owned by one of the giants.
This is the 4th time we’ve traveled with Riviera. Always organised, friendly, helpful and reliable.

My booking experience with Riviera was really great. The representative was very warm, friendly yet informative, giving me all the details and options I needed to make an informed choice. She was able to reserve cabins whilst I checked in with my fellow travelling group members and presented good alternatives when we hit issues with availability. This will be the fifth time we’ve booked a river cruise with Riviera and they never disappoint. And the holidays themselves are very good with knowledge people and great and interesting range of experiences. They organise everything brilliantly.
Excellent experience of booking our next river cruise from start to finish.

Very easy to get through to a human being who was professional, polite, knowledgeable and efficient. My questions were answered and a very small deposit taken. I received immediate confirmation of the booking and was informed when the balance would be due.

The Riviera staff and ship crew were all very cheerful and attentive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble!
The quality and range of food for all the meals was excellent, probably the best of all the Riviera holidays we have had.
The excursions were all very well organised and informative.
Overall a most enjoyable holiday.

Easy to find what I wanted and complete most of the booking process. One small gripe, the booking form could be made a bit easier to navigate eg I wasn't able to find where I could make special requests known.

We had previously been on four river cruises with Riviera. They were all excellent and after each we signed up for another, taking advantage of the discount. This time, on the Seine on Jane Austen, I am thinking it's time to try another company.
What went wrong? The cabin was smaller (yes, I should have looked at the small print). The trips were not so well organized. We were usually divided in four or five groups on three buses; it is much better to have one group in each bus. We were very late arriving in Versailes and keep standing outside for nearly an hour. We were not warned about thieves there. We were kept waiting outside Giverny and short of time inside. We spent too long in the Arromanches museum. Our guide in Etretat left the meeting point without us before the meeting time she gave us.
But let's not be too negative. The ship's crew were as wonderful as ever and we met lots of nice people.

Went to Japan with Riviera travel on what should have been the trip of a lifetime, but their lack of care all but ruined the trip. Terrible service. It felt like they were keen to get their hands on my credit card but after that, no interest. Would never book with them again
