Great product! I drink it almost every day! In fact I just had dental surgery yesterday. And Rootana has kept me full and satisfied since I am unable to eat regular food for a couple days. I’ve also got four other people ordering the product. I have been using it for two years going on three. Usually for breakfast or a quick lunch. Tastes great and very good ingredients. Rootana ticks all the boxes if you care about full, meal-level calories, complete vitamins and minerals, no artificial sweeteners, no soy, no maltodextrin, and naturally derived sweetness. I also tried LyfeFuel and Ka’Chava, but nutritionally they don’t come close.

That said, I initially stopped using Rootana due to a poor customer service experience. My first shipment was not packaged well—the two bags were loose in a large box, and one bag partially opened and spilled into the box. I contacted customer service, and Sarah replied two days later saying they would send a replacement via priority shipping. Two weeks passed with no replacement and no further communication.

I didn’t even ask for a replacement—Sarah set that expectation herself and then failed to follow through. Because of that, I canceled my subscription.

Now, about eight months later, I’m coming back to Rootana because the other options still don’t compare nutritionally. I’m hoping for a much better customer experience this time around.

The best complete meal shake. Not too sweet, tastes good.

Good product, a little gritty. Could stand to have a more protein-balanced option.
Subscription management could be better, but product delivery so far has been consistent, which is very important.

I enjoy the product and include it as best I can into my daily meals.

It dissolved well. I used it for backpacking. Like similar products it tasted chalky. I added equal amounts of Nido and a pinch of monk fruit.

It took me ages to find a meal replacement shake without stevia. There's no weird aftertaste like other shakes i tried and I love that it's natural. The shaker and scoop are good. I've found I don't always need a full 400 calories though, perhaps different serving suggestions could be added. I love rootana!

Such a great shake! I’ve been using Rootana for a couple of years now, initially on and off but most days now. I like the chocolate and original flavours, but originals my go to now. It’s a really easy way to stay full and get enough energy in in the morning.

Delivery is always fast. Had a delivery go missing once and they sent another out the same day, great customer service and no hassles.

This is a great product that is held back by their inept 3rd party Support and poor website design.

I had a subscription for the vanilla flavor for months until I received an email apologizing that they had a shortage of vanilla and asking if I wanted to switch to another flavor for that month.
I told them that was fine and they proceeded to never respond or update my subscription. I had to cancel it and re-order a new one, choosing the original flavor, since vanilla is apparently now discontinued.
A few months later it happened again. Same form email about a "shortage" (this time in original) same offer to change the flavor, same unresponsiveness.

Also, the website is hot garbage and trying to find out some of the most basic info, like amount to use per serving, is weirdly difficult.

Truth be told, I'm amazed this company is even still around, as they continually conduct themselves like they're circling the drain about to close up shop at any moment.

Amended: It does NOT contain TSP. Lots of chemical sounding ingredients, don't know what the hell I was looking at....
Still think you need to offer sample packets though.

On the positive side, it has the calories I need bc I'm on a liquid diet right now due to esophageal issues and would have been a good supplement to my other meal replacements that have very little calories.
The taste is better than others also. I thought it had more of a slightly nutty flavor than an oat one. Not sweet at all, which I preferred.
For me, one of the negatives was that it had a laxative effect on me when I had two a day. And that was without the full serving amount bc I have a small shaker, only 300 ml instead of 500.
Another concern was TSP as an ingredient, didn't catch it when I looked at the list online.
Lastly, if sample packets were available I wouldn't have spent what for me is a large amount of money on something I can't continue to use (bc of the laxative effect and accompanying discomfort). The cost for the one time buy plus shipping is very expensive. I hope I can find someone else who can use it, it's almost a full bag.

Ordering at your site is hard and complicated! I couldn’t find my previous orders.
Otherwise, the Product is wonderful and delivery is fast! I use it everyday!

I recently explored various protein meal replacement products available in the UK and came across Rootana, which had garnered quite a few positive reviews. Intrigued, I decided to try it out and placed a trial order for a bag of their dark chocolate flavor for £33.98. Despite the product being marketed as made in the UK, I was surprised to incur an additional £8.99 for standard shipping. I also ordered their Rootana shaker bottle at £15.99 and a metal scooper for £5.99, which meant another £8.99 in shipping, totaling £29.97 for those items. I placed these two orders on the same day, and they arrived together in just two days via Royal Mail.

Given the rave reviews, I was genuinely excited to experience Rootana for myself. Having spent over a decade trying various protein products, I can confidently say that only a handful have tasted decent. Many options, whether from the U.S. or the UK, have honestly been dreadful, especially vegan proteins as they tend to have a grainy texture. For me, Orgain Organics stands out as the most palatable vegan protein shake worth purchasing. I prefer 100% whey isolate that doesn't upset my stomach being lactose intolerant. I've sampled several protein powders and ready-made drinks like Huel and Yfood from local stores like Sainsbury and Tesco, and aside from Huel, most were not worth the investment.

However, I must share my profound disappointment with Rootana—it ranks among the worst tasting protein powders and meal replacement products I have ever tried. The initial sip was so unpalatable that I nearly gagged. The texture was akin to swallowing fine sand or dirt, and it resembled nothing close to chocolate; rather, it was utterly bland. I can hardly fathom how this product has received positive reviews. Looking back, I'm relieved I only bought one bag—an expensive mistake.

To add to my frustration, the shaker cup leaked during use, which made things even more inconvenient. The directions for the scooper were confusing, leaving me puzzled. Their website mentions a standard 400-calorie serving is 4 scoops (tablespoons) and a large serving is 6 scoops, but the scooper measures 50ml, which is equivalent to 3 tablespoons. I opted for the standard serving, yet the entire experience was far from enjoyable.

I truly wish I could share a glowing review of Rootana, but it simply wasn’t for me. Now, I'm left to mix it with my usual protein shake in the hopes of salvaging it, rather than having to toss it into the bin. Just goes to show you can't trust highly rated online reviews that seem impeccably perfect and too good to be true.

Rootana is an outstanding product and company. For years I was desperate to find a meal replacement shake that didn’t have artificial sweeteners or stevia. I tried so many meal replacement shakes but just couldn’t hack the horrible sweeteners they used, including Stevia. I searched for ages before discovering that what I hoped for actually existed. Rootana is fantastic—a meal replacement shake that is healthy and nutritionally balanced, consisting of real foods. The oaty “original” shake is my go-to—I take it as it is with water and/or milk, or flavour it with different vegetable or fruit juices. It is absolutely delicious and is now a staple in my diet. I feel so healthy when I take it.

I have found deliveries consistently fast and efficient.

I genuinely hope this company thrives. I strongly believe that the vision and effort involved in developing this product and bringing it to market should be rewarded with massive success. Rootana is, in my opinion, hands-down, the best product of its kind by far. 5 stars all the way!

(10/10/25) I have now tried Huel Black and White unflavoured and unsweetened—Rootana is far superior, particularly in taste, and it is the only shake I really look forward to consuming. It is delicious. Plus Rootana’s balance of carbs and protein is preferable to Huel’s. Huel is very dense and grainy—it is a chore to drink it; but that is not at all the case with Rootana.

18/8/25) I’m trying the chocolate flavour right now. It is very good. Delicious and incredibly healthy. But I do love the Original oaty one the best; I’m hoping it is back in stock soon.

I've just started and I love these meals. But I've been trying for 5 days sending several emails to get some help and no one ever gets back to me. It started out ok they did respond a couple weeks ago. But I wanted to reorder, had a question and 5 days waiting for an answer. Really poor customer service which is a big deal when you're spending money. They really need to focus on keeping in touch with customers who support their business. Also when you ship the items please send the tracking numbers and not make the customer reach out to you for that information.

Expected better.

Paid for DPD delivery but for some reason despatched with Yodel (who, as usual, have failed to deliver).

Customer services don't respond to emails and no phone number seems to exist to speak to someone.

Being fair, once contact was eventually made with customer support, they quickly did everything they could do to rectify Yodel's incompetence and very quickly dispatched a replacement order via DPD which arrived safely next day.

A good quality product, very decent. I placed the order, but it never arrived. I believe it was an error on the part of the British postal service, Royal Mail.

Even so, Rootana responded in a very responsible and empathetic manner, helping me and replacing my order without any issues. I believe it is a company with strong ethics, empathy for its customers, and good values and principles.

Now that I have tried their product, I find it to be excellent. I highly recommend it not only for its quality but also for the company's values and ethics.

Huel took me down a curious path. But Huel spend all their money on advertising and their shakes taste iffy and can rough up your tummy.

When I found out about Rootana, and I read through their website, I thought too good to be true? I'm hooked. Almost tempted to contact you directly and have a chat about creating an improvised off the cuff Social Media account where I bring this magic powder along with me on my travels. I blend it with water and ICE and Oat/Almond milk. A lot of the time blend it with a Banana and a big dollop of peanut butter. I also sometimes add a little Vanilla natural protein powder for a flavour boost.

Rootana fills me with energy and helps me with my high metabolism, giving me an extra meal in between meals to maintain weight. I can carry it around with blended and in a flask. Or the Powder in a Zip bag with my shaker when I go on an adventure. I don't know how else to put it. A refreshing magical milkshake?

Bravo to you and your team. I really hope you are building up on your marketing plan because this stuff should be in the supermarkets ! I wanna see it everywhere rock n roll

I give Rootana 5 stars, because the taste, texture and nutritinal values are excellent.

I bought it off an internet recommendation, and I am extremely surprised.

The Dark cacao is my favorite out of all the flavors, truly rich and authentic, without the artificial taste that other brands offer. It's clear that they use real cacao.

Also love the fact that they have no artificial sweeteners, since I'm a little concerned about the long term effect in health. That said, I would love a gluten-free version.

I love this product for my husband as it keeps his weight up where it should be with him having diabetes and also for helping build protein. Rootana is a lifesaver. Thanks for all you guys do, as for a lot of is, this product is so important! We love that its plant based! Be blessed!

I had one of my subscription shipments botched. The bags were ripped open, so powders were all over the box. I contacted customer service, and they gave me the option for a refund or a new shipment. I appreciate the flexibility she gave me.
