We recently had our kitchen renovated and had a large 1.5 by 3.0 metre really rough on silver antique mirror splash back installed above the cooker and run of units. The mirror is simply stunning and we are really happy that we went with rough old glass to make this purchase. The mirror makes the room appear so much larger and the reflection of the room and the garden is just what we wanted. In the evening it also gives the room a very atmospheric feel, almost like being in a trendy wine bar! We opted to have a site survey and a template made as the mirror was so large and we wanted cut-outs for sockets. The mirror was measured to perfection and fitted by the surveyor and one other fitter without any problems. We love the mirror and are very thankful to rough old glass.

I was just sitting here, stuck at work, looking at my mirror – and I realised I'd never said thank you to Rough Old Glass. We moved into this house at the very end of 2017 – a relocate move. During the move, my very large and ornate, early Victorian mirror, which had been in my family for generations, got broken. The glass was cracked from one corner to the other. I was heartbroken – this was a mirror I had seen in so many houses since I'd been born – now it was mine, and broken. The movers had insurance – all good. However, It was up to me to find a company who could replace the glass, which is a very curvaceous shape and bevelled at the edges. For months we tried to find someone who would take it on. Even people I knew who had connections in antiques – everyone said no, and I thought I would never be able to get it fixed. OR MAYBE fixed sort of, with the shaped glass, but no one would agree to the bevelling, which they said would have to be done by hand, and too complicated. Then we found this company. They agreed to fix it for the amount the insurance had agreed to pay. They drove from Barnstaple to collect it, and I watched first hand the care which was taken to secure the mirror in the truck so not further damage would occur to either the wood or the two other pieces of glass (undamaged by our move several months earlier). A few weeks later, they brought it back, and what a stunning job – they had replicated the bevel around the edge immaculately and it came back shiny and beautiful. Can't thank you enough, and sorry it took me so long to say so!

Excellent service, both from initial enquiries to the finished product. The team answered all my questions and provided a quote quickly, and upon payment of the order, kept us informed on the timeline, which arrived just before Christmas (much to the delight of my wife!).

The product was a large custom sized mirror with antiqued glass, and it looks great above our fireplace; it's a statement piece to be sure. It's backed onto a solid board with a mounting bar and is very well made. Mounting is easy since the mounting has a solid bar hook component that goes onto the wall, upon which the mirror hangs, so as long as you can mount the bar on the wall straight, it's simple to put up. Lifting such a heavy item and hanging it took a bit of muscle though!

Overall a great experience and I have no hesitation in recommending them

I was delighted to be able to use their hand finished antique mirror on a recent project. The glass is water cut which is very accurate. The mirror works beautifully and the effect more than doubles the feel of the room. The toughened Vintage finish on clear glass is practical, safe and easy to keep polished. The company was very helpful with clear advice from templating to delivery. I look forward to using them again.
