Did Ryan’s basic course for sounders, found it very helpful, ended up doing sounder skills 2 and the finger mark course. Really good, can’t recommend highly enough, the best how to course for sounders on the market

The course was good but their marketing and sales strategy is to get new customers in, while they offer deals to new customers, you don't get the same option to upgrade at similar pricing as a pre existing customer. Customer service is everything, being supported goes along way. Customer retention policy needs to be considered.

As someone who's completed 6 of Ryan Moody Fishing's online courses, I can honestly say they've taken my fishing from 'hope for the best' to fishing with real strategy and confidence. I used to head out with decent gear but come back frustrated more often than not—now, after diving into Sounder Skills (1 & 2), Barra Basics, and species-specific ones like Fingermark and Threadie tactics and Wonky holes, everything makes sense on the water.
Ryan's teaching style is straightforward and no-nonsense: clear frameworks for reading structure, positioning the boat, interpreting your sounder properly (scroll speed, arches vs. bait, etc.), and understanding why fish hold where they do.
The in-field videos and step-by-step breakdowns mean you actually retain and use it straight away. My catch rates are way more consistent, I'm wasting less time on dead water and burning way less fuel, and I'm bringing home fresh fish for the family more often. These courses have helped me get massive value from my gear investment, create some epic memories on the water
RMF courses are worth every dollar. They've helped me tremendously, and I'd recommend them to any keen angler without hesitation.

I love my fishing, but I also love catching fish, we don’t always keep them, but Ryans courses will have you nearly always being able to catch the target species if you follow his well laid out framework that guides you to where and when, definitely been a huge help for me, I would and have told many people to purchase Ryans courses as they are great!

If you want to change your fishing then these courses are for you . Ryan explains all details of the course in an easy and honest way that everyone can understand . you learn at your own pace and can go back time and time again . Sounder Skills 1 is very good but Sounder Skills 2 is another level . it teaches you how to read and understand what you are looking at on the screen . You will fish in different locations that you previously sailed over .

I'm not normally someone who completes reviews, but I just had to do one for Ryan Moodie Fishing. I have purchased 7 of Ryan's courses and they were worth every dollar I spent on them. I had a basic understanding of using a sounder but Ryan's sounder 2 course just opened my eyes up to being able to totally understand what I was seeing which enabled me to Fingermark in there foraging areas as explained by Ryan in his Fingermark Course. I was able to read the screen to understand the size of the Threadfin Salmon in the holes. But the Threadfin Salmon Course advised me to where in the holes i need to be looking for them. I have chssed Barra mainly in the N.T during there peak times, like the run off. Then struggled to catch them in the dry season. The Barra Basics Course, well it just joined all the dots together correctly. The Sounder 2 course was also needed to be able to understand what was on the screen when looking for Wonky Holes off shore. Especially what is the best way to adjust your screen settings to give you the best image as possible. Actually the Sounder 2 course is course that you need for every one of Ryan's courses. Locating Livies course was a game changer for me. I was always able to find bait but only at a certain time of the tide. This course opened my eyes to places never thought about where bait may be. Now I'm able to catch bait at any stages of the tide and various types of bait used for targeting certain species of fish. And the most recent course that I purchased is the Mudcrab Mastery. I used go mud crabbing and come home with a feed 1 out of 4 trips. Telling friends that my pots must of been raided. Since doing the Mudcrab Mastery Course I now know that I was placing my pots in places where I would fluke a legal crab. Its become very easy to catch a feed of crabs every trip out. I really can't thank Ryan Moodie Fishing and his team for being able to turn me a very average fisher person into someone who actually catches there target species of fish. It was the best investment I have ever done. Can't recommend the courses enough.

Doing Ryan's courses teaches you how to convert your sounder into finding fish.
At first it's a lot of information but as you can go back to whatever part of the course you struggle with and rewatch it as many times as you like.
My fishing has improved 100% since doing sounder skills 1 & 2.

I jumped into Ryan Moody’s Barra Basics and, look, while it’s not exactly rocket surgery, it’s a bloody good refresher. The real value isn’t just the course content (which is solid and easy to follow), it’s the access you get to Ryan and the community. Being able to throw very specific questions at people who actually know what they’re talking about massively accelerates the learning curve. You’re basically buying a shortcut past years of trial and error. Well worth it.

I’ve completed most of Ryan Moody’s courses including Finding Fingermark, Sounder Skills 1 & 2, Locating Livies, Barra Basics, Mud Crab Mastery, Coral Trout and Wonky Holes — and they’ve completely transformed my fishing.

Ryan teaches in a way that’s easy to follow but packed with decades of knowledge. The biggest difference for me has been learning why fish behave the way they do and how to properly use my sounder. It’s helped me find productive spots I would have otherwise driven past, save time and fuel, and most importantly, catch more quality fish.

Ryan's got a no-nonsense approach to teaching, and he breaks down complex concepts into bite-sized chunks (no pun intended 😂). His expertise in reading sounders and finding fish is second to none, and he shares it all with you in a way that's easy to grasp.

Highly recommend Ryan’s courses. I have done sounder skills 1&2 and they are well worth the money.

I did a Sounder Skills course when we got a new sounder as we wanted to get the best out of it. Ryan Moody's course was an amazing. I'd just mirror to the TV and watch with my coffee and still do when I need a refresher. I recommend buying a little pad to jot down information and even make a few print outs for the boat. It's very information dense and all very relevant info. Can't recommend the course enough. I went on to also do the Wonky Holes course which was also very interesting and has a great fb group.

I am so thankful that Ryan shares his knowledge and experience with us. As a new fisher he has taught me when, where and how to fish to get the most out of my trip. 100% recommend his courses.

Sounder Skills taught me to understand what the equipment is showing me. Ryan's fishing courses explain where the fish are likely to be and why.
I have caught more fish in Moreton Bay since doing the courses than in the last 10 years.
I can take the grandkids fishing and they get catches - both in the boat and on the beach.
Hired a boat in WA and cleaned up - using hand lines - purely by using the charts and sounder to find structure.
First trip to Sandy Straights, caught a variety of fish everyday, every tide -using live bait, lures, plastics etc.
Improved snapper catches.
I love that I can go back over the courses and refresh; also ask questions of other anglers. I've even been confident enough to answer others questions.

Being a keen fisherman all my life, I couldn,t help but want to broaden my knowledge of fishing, the where ,the when, and the why. With modern sounder tech such as side imaging, down imaging etc, I also needed some help. After finding Ryan,s Fish Smarter site, the rest is history, I stared with sounder skill 1, now I have access to sounder skill 2, barra basics, thready tactics and finding fingermark, not once regretting the investments I have made in these courses. Even when you are a reasonable fisherman, his courses have enforced and broadened my knowledge of my targeted species immensely. Also having the ability of revisiting these courses is great and I frequently do. Great job mate, keep us all living the dream.
