I jumped into Ryan Moody’s Barra Basics and, look, while it’s not exactly rocket surgery, it’s a bloody good refresher. The real value isn’t just the course content (which is solid and easy to follow)... See more

Just thought I would leave a review regarding Ryan Moody's fantastic online fishing courses. I have purchased Sounder Skills one, two and finding finger mark(which is great for snapper for us people in se qld and further south, I and also won the locating livies course. The information I have gained and continue to gain from rewatching these course, or from the studies groups is more than worth the cost of it. Ryans approach to all of his courses, is done so well and easy to follow with a no bs approach. I am 100% sure that either a beginner or seasoned pro will gain alot from this. To be honest I did not believe it to start with and I just purchased Sounder Skills 1 which is so cheap like a couple of cups of coffee. I have never looked backed It is one of the best investments I have made.(I cracked the 40 cm bream which I did not long after doing Sounder Skills 2). 100% Absolute Value

I started with the Threadies course to see what the workshops entailed as I was sceptical about this online training program. However that soon changed and I begun catching threadies consistently and the course really opened my eyes to how much I was missing when I went fishing. I later paidnfornthe barra, fingermark and sounder 2 course and found all the courses a wealth of knowledge. Not to mention the help obtained from the private facebook pages from other persons who have done the course. Yes, the program isn't cheap, but the knowledge provided in this course is invaluable.

I've taken multiple Ryan Moody Fishing courses over the past few years—starting with Sounder Skills 2 and most recently completing the Coral Trout course. Without a doubt, these courses have been one of the most valuable investments in my fishing journey.
The biggest benefit? They’ve saved me countless hours on the water. What Ryan teaches are lessons that would normally take years—if not decades—of trial and error to figure out. Instead of wasting time and fuel trying to work things out on my own, I now have a proven system and strategy every time I head out.
Each course is structured clearly, with step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow, even if you're learning at your own pace. I especially appreciate the ability to revisit lessons whenever I want to refresh my memory before a trip. Whether it's understanding your sounder better or pinpointing exactly where and how to target coral trout, the content is incredibly practical and immediately applicable.
Ryan’s depth of knowledge, backed by real-world experience, shines through in every module. You’re not just getting theory—you’re getting the kind of know-how that only comes from thousands of hours on the water.
I highly recommend these courses to anyone serious about improving their fishing results. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned angler, you’ll walk away more confident, more efficient, and with a much greater chance of success on the water.

I started Ryan's courses as I work away from home as a FIFO. I would spend my day off streaming movies, so I decided to give one of Ryan's courses a go. Did Sounder one, and learnt so much, I have since done a couple of others. Great info.

Hi all
Just thought I would share my experience with these courses run by Ryan Moody Fishing. I have completed Sounder skills 1 and 2, Locating Livies, Mud Crab Mastery, Finding Fingermark and the Coral Trout Course. I loved the process of going through all of them and learning stuff I could never have dreamt of learning from anywhere else in my lifetime. I still go back to them when something doesn’t work for me out on the water so I can rehash my knowledge. Ryan also provides a Facebook page with each course which is also so helpful when you want to find something out. The good thing is, there is no one ready to put you down for asking a simple question either, which seems to be the norm on most Facebook fishing pages these days. You definitely get a sense of community on Facebook.
The courses will run you through all the information you need to know for that particular course with the added bonus of seeing it all working in action when Ryan puts it into practice on the water.
I would recommend these courses to anyone. The way I think of it, fishing is my hobby, and me time, and I love getting out there even on a bad day fishing. The information contained in these courses is priceless so spending a couple of bucks to do them is a no brainer.
If you are not fully decided whether you should sign up for a course, just jump in and do one, you definitely won’t regret it.
Thanks Ryan. I look forward to my next course.
Regards, Pat

I’ve found all of Ryan’s courses to be very helpful, providing a wealth of proven knowledge and insights from his many years of charter operating and being on the water. Tons of tips, hacks, and common sense, plus offering lures for sale that perform well and actually catch fish! Highly recommend any of his courses, and even if you just follow him on the socials, or visit his website, you’ll gain heaps of wisdom that’ll improve your odds on the water.

Ryan Moody fishing courses
I have completed a lot of Ryan’s courses I have been fishing in Australia for 50 years learning from various ex professional fisherman along the way.
I have found Ryan’s courses to be very insightful and has filled in gaps of my knowledge that I did not even know existed. I have followed Ryan from when he first started offering the courses, his professionalism is apparent in the way that he has evolved in his delivery of the courses. I recommend his courses to anyone who approaches me for tips and tricks. I review the courses continually and learn new things all the time.
The money spent is good value when considered with the amount of money invested over all for the pursuit of successful fishing.
I was told by an experienced stockman when I was a teenager on a cattle muster, that “the day you think you know everything is the day when you know nothing”.
All knowledge is gravy and gives a useful edge in whatever pursuit you choose.
Can’t recommend his course highly enough, thank you Ryan.
Cheers mate.
