Fabulous place to work

Saks is a great place to work. The whole network makes you feel valued and like you're part of the Saks family. My team have welcomed me with open arms and continuously supported my development and training.

It's been so easy to fit into such an amazing team.

Saks leeds city

Saks leeds city! Avoid at all costs.
I thought I’d share my experience with you all working for Saks Leeds city. Personally I think it’s important to feel valued and appreciated rather than a slave and a number. I can first hand tell you this place isn’t what it seems and be honest the owner who doesn’t come from a hairdressing background is the definition of a narcissistic bully. She wants control and the minute you stand up for yourself you’re basically frozen out you become the outsider. If it wasn’t for me actually raising my grievance and having my union rep she would have got away with all she has done to me, qualifying was meant to feel like a great experience but it was overshadowed with all the trauma I went through not just her but with other family members too. Whilst my hours were given back to me after being significantly reduced I knew within myself I could not go back due to lack of trust, she has also breached confidentiality, the investigation was not done throughly. Whilst I’ve been there from the start since hairdressing was introduced the amount of staff that have left due to management is shocking, she never takes accountability for her own actions it’s always someone else’s fault. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I did! I aren’t the person to write reviews but it’s gotten way too far. Also the people that work there know exactly what the place is like but too scared to stand up for themselves. I have been in touch with head office and they have ignored me which goes to show they probably know exactly what the Leeds city branch is like!

Salon claims dodgy cut is postpartum hairloss

I went to the York salon a few weeks before my wedding. I asked for balayage and a trim. After the appointment there was one really short bit of hair that was cut almost to the root at the front of my head. My partner mentioned it to me but we tried to put it to the back of our minds. However, a week before my wedding, my partner couldn't contain it any longer and mentioned again about the short bit of hair. It had grown longer and now looked way more obvious and sticking out. I had to consult with my hair stylist at the wedding to try and disguise it. I mentioned it to Saks and although I acknowledge we should have mentioned it on the day or earlier, I found Ashley the manager to be very condescending. He refused to accept responsibility and told me it's postpartum hair loss as I have an 8 month old. I clarified that I've not experienced any postpartum hair loss and the short hair is only in one specific section, and I have a photo to prove it happened on the day of the appointment. He refused to budge, I found him very rude, he talked me down, was patronising, and basically accused me of lying. He used me being postpartum as an excuse to not accept responsibility. I will no longer attend the salon which is a shame as I was a loyal customer but as a woman and a mother I don't feel respected.

I would not recommend Saks if you want…

I would not recommend Saks if you want a good haircut. I am a mature woman who has visited many other hairdressers in my life but can honestly say the cut I had recently was the worst I've ever had. Trying to get a response from their head office in Darlington is hopeless. They have never responded to my complaint. £40 down the drain for a lopsided, uneven cut that I will have to wait months for it to grow out. Never again!

I was welcomed by Rohan at the Leeds…

I was welcomed by Rohan at the Leeds City Centre salon and felt so comfortable to then be rudely interrupted by what I can presume was a manager and it totally put me off. The younger staff were running around cleaning and had clients waiting, why isn’t there other staff available to do those jobs?? Definitely not a fair environment. Absolutely disgusting as I felt for the staff and couldn't wait to leave! I cannot thank the hair stylists enough they were absolutely fantastic. Very professional and welcoming. I even received a compliment from another staff member who wasn’t even doing my hair!
Felt extremely sorry for staff who were absolutely brilliant. Such a shame they don’t have respect from management.

Appalling Customer Service .(Teesside branch)
Stay away !!
I chose this saloon as it's near my place and good reviews on the website.
My first visit was let me down as they couldn't find my appointment on their system.
My second visit was horrible as I was running late to pick my kids up from school as my senior hair dresser served two customers at a time. And also I lost my ear rings because of being rushed.

My third visit was nightmare as I've been told to reschedule my appointment as I was running late for 10 minutes for nearly two weeks wait for that appointment.
I regretted myself why I chose this saloon and spent  £100 for each visit for getting more stress,  hassle and ruined my life all the time.

Just don't go !

Aberdeen - Union Square

I went to this salon seeking a change, specifically to eliminate subtle yellow tones in my hair and get a balayage. When the stylist did the balayage, it looked great initially, but the horror unfolded as soon as I washed my hair. The contrast between the darker upper part and the lower blonde was a way too big, and the transition between darker and lighter sections looked really bad. Even a purple mask and shampoo couldn't remove the terrible yellow shades of blonde and reddish-orange brown. The stylist is generally skilled and cuts well, but the balayage turned out to be a disaster. Hair around my face, instead of being lighter, the is darker. I spent nearly 200 pounds for this disappointing outcome. And now I need bleach my hair at home and do recolouring again at home.

Deceptive and not professional

I got emailed a link to 50% off for the Newark Beauty Salon . It said subject to terms and conditions . There are no terms on the website. When I rang ti book I was told it doesn’t include nails. They are aware this isn’t anywhere on their website and other customers calling have to them that . It’s the Saks way not to act in a legal and professional manner. Shame on you. I won’t be visiting.

Couldn’t recommend more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am so happy!! I see Harriet in the Exeter salon who is in training but she is incredible! All the staff are lovely, very caring and lots of nice little touches that make the experience feel more luxe. After being quoted £350 per appointment from my last hairdresser (at Saks I paid £105 for my 1st appt, then £80 per appt. since), and being quoted similarly ridiculous prices at another popular exeter salon, plus being told that what I wanted would take at least 4 appointments and it wouldn't look good inbetween... it is safe to say I am absolutely thrilled. The treatment and vibe at Saks is also so much better than both previous salons I went to, can't recommend enough!

Overpriced

Overpriced. Staff look down their noses at you. The manager is never there to resolve problems or complaints.. Tried a few different hairdressers from my local saks salon and none of them over a year listened to what I wanted and ignored the numerous occasions I explained I was on medication which would affect my hair. They push you into buying products and services you don’t need and falsely advise you on what would fix hair issues each individual has.
Seems to me they spend all their money on luxury coffees & fancy decor to look the part, overcharging customers to cover costs whilst employing underteained staff without management in the salon.

Excellent hairdresser

Revisited this salon for a cut and blow dry with Paula, I must say absolutely delighted with the results, really listened to what I was trying to achieve and came out with exactly what I wanted, great experience from start to finish.

Lovely experience with Rohan -Highly Recommend!!

I had the an amazing experience of having my haircut by Rohan, he is absolutely great- worked his magic on my hair after so long! He is such a fun bubbly personality who knows how to lift me up! I’ve always had a lovely experience with the all staff, so friendly and really make you feel at ease. Both Victoria and Rohan, always go above and beyond with professionalism and just being the great personalities they are-lovely individuals, a great credit to this Leeds venue and would always recommend to anyone I know! Thank you for always making my day and being the go to place where you can find everything for your hair & beauty needs :)

Saks Ilkley is great

Saks Ilkley is great; Joseph and Fiona are so friendly, very professional and they know what they're doing with hair!

Couldn't ask for more on such an important personal aspect, my hair always looks fantatsic, not only when it's just been done but even 6-8 weeks after the cut so you get a style that really lasts.

I know not everyone writing a review here has had a brilliant experience but it's pretty much nailed on with Saks Ilkley. You get the personal treatment of a local salon but with the professional and knowledgeable skills of highly trained experts.

Highly recommended!

Amazing!

"I recently took my twin girls, who have long and voluminous hair, to this salon for their first-ever visit, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the salon prioritizes cleanliness and professionalism. The staff were incredibly skilled and took extra care to ensure my girls were comfortable throughout the entire appointment.

Not only did my girls love the final result of their hair, but they also enjoyed the overall experience. We'll definitely be returning to this salon in the future. I wholeheartedly give it a 5-star rating!"

I wouldn’t even rate this place one star, the place is filthy and the service provided is absolutely shocking. Even after getting in touch with the salon and providing pictures I have been offered £6.00 compensation. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE TO AVOID DISSAPOINTMENT

Would NOT recommend. Chester.

I wanted to treat myself to a nice haircut/salon experience after not having been to a salon in a little while. I cut my own hair during Covid and beyond (thanks to Brad Mondo and his online tutorials). My DIY haircuts were better than what I got at this salon, but let's start at the beginning. Decided to try a new salon and great Google reviews lead me to Saks in Chester. I booked my appointment online and pre-paid the full amount (60 GBP for a cut & finish - no colour, no fancy stuff). I thought this was already quite steep pricing, but again - treating myself and all... Booked it with the salon director and hence was hoping for a nice experience and great haircut. When I arrived at the salon and was asked about what I wanted (just the ends off and some minor layers for shape - I've got quite long hair), I was told that due to my hair volume there would be an additional amount to pay, as they only allocate 45 mins for each appointment, and mine would likely run over, because the cutting would take longer. I thought it a bit strange, that this was just dropped on me, whilst I was already sat in the chair. It's not like I could have then said, "no, that's way too expensive for me now (already thinking 60 Pounds was steep just for a cut)", as I would not have gotten my deposit (30 GBP) back at this point. I'm a student btw, so it's not like I'm loaded. Also, it's not really my fault for having more hair than the average person and the pricing on the website didn't specify this as an issue. I know from other salons that they have different prices depending on hair length, and I'd be happy to pay a wee bit more for having long hair, but that's not part of their pricing strategy - as outlined online or in the booking system. Also not my problem, that only 45mins are allocated for the appointment. I felt ambushed by the additional cost, but reluctantly agreed (what else can you do?!). I wasn't offered a drink until the blow drying started, wasn't asked whether the temperature of the water for washing my hair was okay, etc. The stylist got distracted by her kids coming into the salon (teacher's strike and all). It only took the stylist about 10-15 minutes to actually cut the hair and then a trainee took over to blow dry and straighten/style my hair. So you pay almost double for the salon director vs. a graduate doing your hair, but it's only the 10-15 mins cutting time you're actually paying that for. I don't mind someone more junior to do the finish, as they usually take their time, do a good job and obviously need to learn/train as well. I had to pay an additional 15 GBP, so didn't leave a tip, because quite honestly, I've never paid 75 for a haircut. Just. A. Cut. What even.. Also, the cut isn't the best and not exactly rocket science. It's very simple layers. My mum can do them better and she's a kindergarten teacher. I mean... The price-performance ratio (aka. value for money) is just plain ridiculous. I've been to plenty of salons where the cut is better, I paid literally half the amount, and the overall service is so much better.
