The USD200+ jacket started peeling significantly after only two months of use, and their customer service blamed it on the seat belts and thus no possibility of refund or exchange. They expect a recent vest that sold be used without car/plane seat belts? Terribly disappointing.
Spams non-customers. I never signed up for anything.
This is the third ScotteVest I have owned. I bought a "classic" vest in 2004, which was of excellent quality. I would still be wearing it today if I had not put on a few pounds over the years. I bought a fleece vest last year, also good quality. However, I am at a loss at to what has happened to the manufacturing process on this latest version of their flagship "classic" "Best Travel Vest" - the quality is absolutely dreadful.
I purchased mine at the end of July 2024...within two weeks, the keychain had fallen apart and there was frequent "snagging" of the zips, particularly (but not limited to) the external vertical zips. I contacted Customer Support two weeks after receiving the vest, in August 2024 - they offered to "reimburse the cost of a new keychain" (not worth it, pennies to me) and commented on the zips "I’m sorry to hear that the quality of your new SCOTTeVEST isn’t meeting the high standards you’ve come to expect, especially with the zippers. We take your concerns seriously and will definitely pass this information along to our team to look into any potential issues." Great :-( That's really helpful.
Fast forward one month to September 2024, the vest is not even two months old, has had light use and the pockets have never been overloaded, and I have serious issues with the vest:
1: The zips are constantly snagging now, I have to get my wife to "unsnag" them, as I have arthritis in my fingers, however she is not always with me - this potentially leaves me with half open zips, away from home, where items are liable to fall out, or worse be pick pocketed. I have not experienced this with my previous vests.
2: Much more concerning, I now have stitching coming apart in several areas, mainly the main front zip (which will eventually lead to the zip not functioning).
3: On the outside of the vest, there is a "mottling" effect, with "baubles" in some areas - I have no idea what is causing this, and I have never experienced this with my original classic vest or my fleece vest. Again, I contact Customer Services at ScotteVest, attaching photos that I have included here in this review, and stating "For a vest that was purchased just over two months ago, this is totally unsatisfactory."
ScotteVest's Customer Services response? - firstly, "We take this matter very seriously and will escalate it to our quality control to investigate further. I will make sure we review the issues with the zips, stitching, and the fabric’s condition thoroughly. I’ll get back to you as soon as we have more information and next steps".
OK, this is more positive, I maybe just got a one-off, a rogue poorly manufactured vest, this will be a surprise to them, and they will send me a new one. I will be happy to post this faulty one back to them (not at my expense though) so as they can show it to their manufacturer...this will all take a bit of time, but there will be a satisfactory outcome for us all in the end.
Nope - this is the response I got today:
"Thank you so much for your patience as we escalated your case. I truly apologize for the disappointment you’ve experienced, and we sincerely appreciate your continued understanding.
After reviewing the issues, I regret to inform you that the pilling has been classified as normal wear and tear. This fabric does have some texture, so if it’s rubbing against something abrasive, it may show more wear than a smooth fabric. We completely understand how frustrating that must be, and we’re truly sorry.
Regarding the loose threads, while they don’t affect the integrity of the jacket, we agree that they can be unsightly. We recommend carefully trimming the excess threads with scissors or tucking them back into the hole intended for wires. I’ve personally done this with my own garments, and they’ve remained in great shape for years. To make up for the inconvenience, we'd be happy to add $30 in Pocket Points to your account, which you can use toward future purchases. Once again, we deeply apologize for the frustration this has caused, and we truly appreciate your loyalty. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns. We’re here to help!"
No offer of a replacement, not interested in seeing the vest themselves, and a "$30 voucher".
A totally unacceptable and unsatisfactory response.
Just after I bought the vest, I received an automatic email from Scott Jordan, CEO & Co-Founder of ScotteVest, asking me to leave a review.
No problem Scott - here's your review.
Buyer beware. Bad customer service when it comes to returns. Purchased one of their vests as a surprise for my husband. Turned out he hated the vest (surprise on me!) Way too heavy & hot for him to wear in warm climate. So I bit the bullet and returned the vest with the knowledge that I had to pay the return shipping fee. To my dismay, I did not get a full refund on my initial purchase. Not only did I have to pay the return shipping fee, but they deducted the original shipping fee from my refund so I had to pay for shipping 2x! Talk about corporate greed and double dipping! Please think carefully before you purchase their products as returning them can be very costly
The customer service for this company is horrendous. My package was stolen due to improper delivery and I have been fighting for help filing a claim for over a month now. I'm now out almost $150 with zero help or communication from Theralogix. As expensive as this medication is, I can't trust this company to deliver it, so I will have to find an alternative.
We got ScottEVests for a two week trip to several countries in Europe. Our luggage limitations were much more extreme than we have been used to under domestic flights.
The vests achieved our goals: we traveled by plane with one small carryon suitcase and no backpack. Most of the “stuff” that would’ve been in a backpack, was stashed in vest pockets.
Once we got to our destination, some of that was unloaded so the vest was not as bulky day-to-day. Wearing the vest with passport, phone, sunglasses, water bottle, portable charger, and much more, meant that we were “hands-free“ as we moved around — that was great.
Also, great was the customer service when purchasing the vest. My husband got a men’s large. I was going to get a women’s large, but it was not available. The customer service rep very “delicately” suggested I might try a men’s medium. I’m very glad that I did. I understand that the women’s vests are more cinched at the waist, which would have exacerbated one of the downsides of the vest.
Most people probably do need to buy a size somewhat larger than they think they need. Once you start putting a lot of stuff in the pockets, the vest really does get quite bulky. It really helps to practice loading up the vest and then rearranging things so that all the bulky areas are somewhat evenly distributed. I didn’t mind too much looking like a very stuffed sausage but tried to be reasonably symmetric!
Unfortunately, the vest just has a one-way zipper. That meant that it was very uncomfortable sitting down with the vest completely zipped up. I basically just had to unzip it completely so that I could sit comfortably, but that meant that the heavy sides of the loaded vest were dropping off the side of the seat on the plane. If it had a two-way zipper, I think this would’ve been much less of an issue.
Another improvement would be to have a larger RFID Passport pocket or one that’s oriented differently. It was a little tricky sometimes, maneuvering the Passport in and out of that pocket which has a Velcro attachment keeping it inside. (it’s a bit tricky to explain.)
The vest does keep you warm. When we were at high altitude in the Alps, and wearing all of our layers, that was welcome. At lower elevations, it was sometimes a bit too warm.
I suggest that the descriptions of the different vests are very clear about how much warmth they provide.
I should note that both my, and my husband’s fully loaded vests felt very heavy on the hanger. But when we checked the weight of the loaded vests, they were really just 3 to 5 pounds. (So, “No. You’re not wearing 15 pounds of vest“)
Overall, I felt like the vest was worth the fairly hefty price, and have recommended it to friends already, with the caveat mentioned above.
Bought a jacket from Scott E Vest and it contains PFAS. It’s not transparent on their website, and the reviews on the website are censored. They never published my review. Bad experience.
I did not think ScotteVests will fit me, spent lots of time measuring other vests I had etc... then, one day I decided to call customers service. Esther was genuinely helpful, gracious and experienced with the product they carry, I appreciated very much her patience in measuring various requests from me and was Super accommodating in answering all my inquiries. I received my vest within less than five days. The fit, the style are exactly as in the picture. I am a happy camper and Love my vest. Looking forward to get another one with the long removable sleeves. Thank you.

Terrible customer service. Jacket threading came undone after a few times wearing it. Customer service bounced me around and the CEO eventually emailed to say: “A few loose threads among 100,000's of stich lines is not a defect. Just take a scissors and cut them.“ This is on a $300+ jacket. Further research on Glassdoor reveals more about the CEO and company:
“an absolute crap show”
“The CEO has a bad reputation locally and it's well deserved. He acts like Steve Jobs (temper tantrums and yells) but doesn't have Jobs' genius to command respect.”
“Hostile management style”
“The CEO was rude and felt he was entitled to treat you like scum.”
“The CEO is an insane the EGO is hard to take.“
Return policy is a scam. Now that I have googled reviews of their customer service, I see that my experience is common. I followed all of the directions for a return—called phone number, got approval, shipped through USPS at my own expense, only to be told the returned jacket had “stains”. The jacket was tried on once, and returned with the tags still attached, in new condition. All the “customer service” rep, could say is “quality control is the only department that touches the returned items.” Ok. So what?? I told her I have read many online reviews that said new items have been rejected for return, and it sounds like the company frequently does this, so they do not have to issue a refund. I mistakenly thought this was a trust worthy company. Their items are expensive, but the quality was not as expected. I was willing to try it, because of the return policy. Scottevest is extremely deceptive and unethical. I have never written a negative review like this before. But this is infuriating, and a fraud on their part. Adding: SCOTTeVEST contacted trust pilot to remove the first name of the customer service rep. Funny how they don’t mind if names are in positive reviews. I doubt the validity of some of the positive reviews. Many customers reported experiences exactly like mine. They show a pattern. Then a positive review shows up with the same rep’s name. Seems like damage control and very misleading in their overall star rating. Look at other review sites. Customer service is reported as terrible.
Don't travel without the cargo pants or vest. Good customer service.

The sizes run very small so I originally bought a medium even though I normally wear a small but even that was tight. I exchanged it for a large which fits perfectly with room for all the items I plan to put in the various pockets. I haven't traveled with it yet but plan to soon.

Though the idea of multiple pockets has it's merits, the vast majority of products are made from terrible, unbreathable synthetic fabrics. Pricing is phenomenally high. Worse yet, if you have gift cards, the site will only allow you to use one gift card per purchase. You can not use multiple gift cards to get a reasonable price. Ultimately, I chose to let the gift cards go to waste rather than be forced into using them for overpriced, synthetic fibers that would make me uncomfortable.
Customer service is a joke. They say the CEO reads every submitted comment, so after calling them out on this, he called me.
They recognized that they had a faulty product and quit selling it (rhinestone zipper wasn’t functional & finally decided to quit offering the product). I had a Bling Rhinestone Chloe jacket that after extremely light usage quit working altogether (zipper totally malfunctioned) & a new one hanging in my closet that I finally just sold off because I’m not cool with a company not standing by the products they sell.
He basically told me he stood by his decision to offer me $20 in rewards points toward my next purchase. Their products start on average around $150+. Needless to say, these jackets are hella expensive & they have many zippers. If a company doesn’t stand by their products or their patrons, they don’t deserve good ratings.
I’ve lost total respect for and desire to purchase from this company. I gave them the opportunity to work with me before these posts. They refused. As promised, reviews are being publicly posted.
Bought the RFID Travel Vest for Men in medium. Vest didn't fit as anticipated so had to return and purchase a smaller size. Haven't used it for travel yet but vest seems like it's high quality and I'm looking forward to trying it. Rating this a 3 because of the company's return policy that the customer must pay for shipping and handling if the customer doesn't consult a fitting specialist. The verbiage on the website is generic and misleading. Quality is nothing without good customer service. I could have purchased the vest through Amazon, who guarantees free returns. I didn't because I wanted to ensure the company got as much of the profit from the vest as possible. I even sent a note to the Scott, the founder and CEO, who apparently "reads and responds to all e-mails" but didn't hear back. I love supporting small business ... especially ones with good ideas/products. That said, not sure I'll buy from this company again given my customer service experience.
I’ve had several vests and shirts from Scottievest. I like the design but have not been impressed with the quality. They are a great marketing company but horrible on customer service. I’ve tried several times to get a return authorization to no avail. I also had a warranty claim with no follow up. I done with this company and will be looking else where.
I have the Scotty vest jacket. I don't know how, but on occasion, I lose keys, chargers important item into the interior of the jacket. How? It pisses me off! I finally cut a hole into the interior to retrieve my stuff!
This is the same guy that said and I quote ( Americans are stupid they will buy anything)..
DO BUY THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE STUPID!!!
CANADIAN'S DO NOT BUY
I am from Canada and purchased 2 shirts from the SCOTTeVEST website.
It was shipped and arrived as promised however the duty I had to pay ($68) brought the product to a ridiculous price point.
I haven't even opened the package yet as I am so upset.
I received a Scottevest as a Christmas present but was unable to wear it until just last week. The jacket has an obvious flaw in a patch of velcro on the neck that rubs against the soft skin on the back of my neck. I called customer service and explained the problem. They refused to do anything because the purchase was over 30 days. I now have a $135.00 jacket that is completely unwearable. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THEY REFUSE TO STAND BEHIND AN OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE JACKET
