SCP’s Policies and Conduct

The retrofit box I ordered basically works and is not defective, but it freezes occasionally, sometimes requires restarts, and due to its size it is difficult to install properly into the dashboard (Mini JCW Cabriolet 2016).

Regardless of the functionality of the box, I am not satisfied with the customer service. The company’s policies are also not in line with modern standards. Returns are technically possible, but fees are deducted from the purchase price, the customer has to handle and pay import duties again themselves — which the company states is not their responsibility — and additional shipping costs also apply.

I can think of several companies, including smaller businesses, that handle these matters in a far more customer-friendly way. They tried to convince me that this is simply how things work for small companies like theirs.

As the company’s response shows, they appear cooperative and friendly. However, apart from repeatedly referring to their policies “which you agreed to at the time of purchase,” nothing else really happens. In support conversations, customers are directly warned that a return will result in significant financial losses.

Yes, I should have read the policies more carefully beforehand — otherwise I would never have made the purchase.

It should also be mentioned that customers are pressured to remove or change their reviews if the company does not like them or considers them unjustified. My source: SCP’s own policies and responses from the Company

We are sorry to hear that you remain dissatisfied with your experience.

However, we do feel it is important to clarify a number of points for transparency and context.

Prior to the review being left, no support request or return request was raised with us regarding the freezing, restarting, or usability concerns now mentioned publicly. This meant we were not given the opportunity to troubleshoot or assist before the review was published.

Following our later communication, you confirmed that the retrofit box fundamentally works and is not defective. Once concerns were eventually raised, we requested further details and video evidence so that we could properly investigate the intermittent freezing behaviour and usability concerns. Further troubleshooting assistance was offered, however no further details or evidence were provided and communication was subsequently closed as requested from your side.

We would also like to clarify that customers are never pressured into changing or removing reviews. We simply requested reconsideration because we felt the original review did not fully reflect the overall situation, particularly given that no opportunity had been provided for support or troubleshooting prior to publication.

With regard to returns and international fees, customs duties, taxes, shipping costs, and transaction-related expenses are standard considerations with international purchases and are clearly outlined within our policies prior to checkout. These costs are not retained as profit and are genuine operational expenses associated with cross-border transactions.

We fully respect all customer feedback, both positive and negative. However, we also believe reviews should present a fair and complete representation of the situation, including the support offered and the timeline of communication involved.

Working device, but no response from seller

Device worked, though the volume of phone calls is very low on my end, I can’t hear the other person. Have scrolled through the many settings pages and can’t find anything. No set up instructions so had to find a video on YouTube of someone with one similar. Would have rated higher but no one man’s the info@ email, I’ve had no response from my queries, so I really hope nothing breaks else it will be money wasted.

This order was placed for a pre-order item, meaning it is dispatched once the incoming batch arrives rather than immediately from stock. The pre-order status and dispatch timeframe were clearly shown on the product page prior to purchase.

At checkout, an estimated delivery window was provided with a latest expected delivery date. At the time this review was posted, the parcel was already in transit with the courier and still within the estimated timeframe, so the shipment was not late.
