Don't try to get a mortgage with Clydsdale. 8 weeks of waiting with no update. Went elsewhere and got approved in a week. Shouldn't be allowed honestly.

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Can't rate them higher than 1 as I'm still in a queue after almost an hour trying to speak to their mortgage team. Utter amateur-hour incompetence. 18-month period ended 31 March 2025: Profit befo... See more

If only there was an option for less…

If only there was an option for less than 1 star. Not entirely sure they actually deserve one star. They don't answer the phone. The department who deals with bereavement and the branch are both completely incompetent.

I have to say, they are definitely on track for winning the worst corporate company to deal with.

It also took 6 months to apply for a charity account - apparently emails are not the sort of thing you reply to on a weekly basis.

Got a letter in have a savings account…

Got a letter in have a savings account with them they said that they would cancel my card as I have not used it in a while, using the card to put money in the account yet they want to cancel my card, and what is this about them wanting everything online also getting rid of the ATM's is this another push for biometric cashless society?, I actually never liked Clydesdale because 25 years ago I had an account with them they threatened to charge me for not using the account because I had nothing in it.

Banks are never wrong ???

Since Virgin joined Clydesdale bank,CB service has deteriorated severly. On entering my pin number it was declined 3 times. Was told that I had entered wrong number. Which is on my phone. This is the second time that this has happened. But on contacting bank, was told that I had entered the wrong Nm. Why is the Bank always right?? Since reading the reviews about C/B-Virgin money I feel that this Bank has absolutely no consideration for its customer's old or new. My personal problems only started when Virgin came on the scene.DO THEY NOT READ THE REVIEWS, OR IS IT A CASE OF WE HAVE YOUR CASH!?! Ps customer for 35 plus YEARS.

This is the most worst bank ever

This is the most worst bank iv ever been with. When I make a transaction for example say of £50 the next day my account is -£50 then I’ll have to pay the -£50 to clear the account so I would have spent £100 in total it’s a joke. the customer services is bad as well. I’m so happy I’m moving to another bank that I can trust. Because Clydesdale/vergin money are money grabbers. Please avoid if you can peeps it’s not worth the Aggravation

Clybnk/virgin money avoid at all cost

Av been with these cowboys for 30yr and last Christmas they decided to steal £120 from my acc through a dodgy cash machine, "BY THE WAY THESE CASH MACHINES ARE ALL BAD NEWS" im now going through the financial ombudsman to HOPEFULLY get our money back which my case handler had to escalate the case as they took a full month to reply n didn't reply till case was escalated, they are saying i never used sed cash machine that didny pay out but the cash machine said it paid out which if it had id have had 2 transactions on account but one disapeared very quickly.
I have a court case hear but cant afford to take them to court, two small kids had a small Christma, very very sad, ive been deceived by a bank i thought i could trust.

Impossible to download transactions.

Again, wish I could award less than 1 star. I download my transactions monthly as a csv file, and yearly, I download a full year transactions. Over the past few days, the downloaded file fails to add up and the positive and negative transactions are no longer detailed as such. Transactions are missing. One expects the successive balances would follow the sums added or deducted. But no, figures do not follow! I am currently waiting forever in Clydesdale Banks Virtual human answering system. "As soon as we can" appears to mean "sometime this century." Tell me Clydesdale, are you really a bank? Could someone at the bank let the chief executive, David Duffy, know what his customers think of his bank's service, If he is able to, perhaps he could read the Trustpilot reviews. He may have been with the bank too long and needs removed in favour of someone able to take the necessary decisions about the bank's future. This service is simply awful.

Inept design

Trying to transfer money online is overcomplicated. You get asked to input information on the computer, then to open the Virgin app on your phone, which requires putting in your customer number again and password 3 random numbers, then you wait for a code, by the time it comes, the 2 minutes allowed on your computer for a response has run out. Working with this ineptly conceived system is a chore.

Clydesdale Bank Is a Joke they should…

Clydesdale Bank Is a Joke they should have their Banking Licence withdrawn. Please be aware that they are also Virgin Money. I only opened account in August 21 transfering from Tesco Bank as they were closing current accounts.
I have had to make several complaints about Virgin Money app, blocking payments which 3 months later they have not resolved.
Just tried to use mobile app, could not log in. Tried to log on to internet banking could not. Phoned and they stated account locked due to unusual transfer. As writing this 1hr later still on the phone waiting for their department to sort out as I have not made any transfers for over 1 month and I have had no communication from Virgin Money to say account blocked. I have had nothing but trouble with this Bank. 1hr 15min later put through to fraud dept spoke to Waqas who stated nothing to do with them who put me through to another fraud dept who are not working due to coronavirus and phone cut off.
now back on the phone at the start again.
Follow up
Got through on the phone again and spoke to Lindsey he could not advise me or put me in touch with anyone that could tell me what was going on. He then told me I needed to go to my nearest branch in Bromley which is 50 miles from me. I must point out that I am disabled OAP and at my own expense I immediately travelled the 50 miles to Bromley. I then waited about ¾ hour for Natalie to get onto head office and be told that a Letter had been sent to me on the 17th February 22 that I still have not received explaining the situation. I asked Natalie why they had told me to visit the branch. She stated the shouldn't have. I can not put in words what I feel about Virgin Money. Received letter 0n 24th February stating they had closed my account 7 days from the date of the letter with no explanation. Got back on phone to make another complaint about the closure for no reason and again spoke to Lindsey who stated I could not make a complaint as their was a previous complaint ongoing. He never made any apology for sending me on a 100 mile round trip to the Bromely branch and hung up on me. I have now been in touch and made a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. Take notice if you have a Clydesdale Bank Account, as you could be left like me, without access for weeks or months to your funds in your current account and any savings accounts like me.

If only I could give them 0 stars!!

If only I could give them 0 stars!!

Desperately trying to get my ex husband removed from my mortgage. Clydesdale could not have been less helpful!! I’ve been given wrong advice time and time again. Spoken to downright rude advisors who have not been truthful with me.

One call to an independent mortgage advisor proved just how useless Clydesdale are. In less than an hour we’ve been approved for a new mortgage. I’m happy to pay the get out fee to never have to deal with Clydesdale again! The mortgage advisor and legal advisor have both commented on how in the dark ages Clydesdale are…they have to fax them the paperwork…!!

AVOID them at all costs if wanting a mortgage, they have wasted hours of my time in pointless appointments only to be told we have no affordability when other companies have told us that’s totally inaccurate, it’s Clydesdale who are being difficult and unrealistic.

You’ve only got to flick through these reviews to show how many problems this company has! I’m so glad we are moving away from this atrocious excuse of a bank!

91% bad reviews says it all

91% bad reviews says it all, I contacted this bank for some assistance during the pandemic, they have declared the pandemic over and won't help their customers at all, the best help they could offer was not to hit me with a blizzard of made up charges. They are after blood at all times.

Awful Service and an Unhelpful Representative

You wouldn't imagine getting a mortgage statement would be do difficult.

I was passed to three different departments, went through the security process twice and kept on hold for 44 minutes, only to be told by a sullen representative that if I wanted a statement of my accounts then there would be a £25 charge for each. A total of £50 to see how much I owe them.

There was no offered solution and I still don't know if I am able to set up an online account to view them for free.

I've been with Clydesdale since 2003 and have never missed a payment but am already looking at other providers to swap to for the remainder of my mortgage.

An awful way to treat your customers.

Worst Bank iv ever used

Worst Bank iv ever used

You make a payment for something, then they put the money back in your account and then take it out again days later or you pay for something and it wont show on your account balance for days so you never actually know whats going on with the account. and if you actually get through to someone on the phone they are as much use as a chocolate tea pot

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service. Three times cut off awaiting transfer to fraud team yesterday. Fourth call I was told all fraud team had gone home. Assured of phone call back today. No call back yet. Phoned again today and attempted transfer again to fraud team. Abruptly cut off after 43 minutes. Shall be cutting my links with this bank.

Disastrous Virgin Takeover. AVOID

Since Virgin takeover there has been an out-of-control deterioration. Horrifically complex systems, complete internet failure, nothing working, online chat not working, telephone contact takes eternity. ANY BANK MUST BE BETTER THAN THIS.

Pathetic customer service

Pathetic customer service. I am now watching the call on hold and it's at 46mins and 18 secs and still hanging for a fraud team to answer. Clydesdale/Virgin get this sorted.
