If it wasn’t so tragic it be amusing, I consoled myself in the fact of knowing that with these delightful unprofessional and intelligent individuals there is no point in being angry. It’s clear that three whatever limitation that they are afflicted with, they have no concept of just how ridiculous they are.
10/10
This score is based on my experiences during the pandemic. YB staff treated with empathy and respect during a period of hardship, they dealt with my mortgage account proffesionally and kept in touch at every stage. A massive thank you to everyone I dealt with during a really difficult time.
Absolutely Dreadful Bank
Absolutely Dreadful Bank. The customer service leaves a bad taste , the staff are very condescending and rude, not helpful at all. I got charged £12 for a £6 late payment. The charge did get waived once things were explained. I had paid way over the requested amount in all of my previous payments and in fact the late payment was made EARLY the month before. This has created problems now with my credit rating. Disgusting! I was passed on to the collections team and was treated with a better level of service altogether.
Awfully company
Awfully company, plays hide and seek with funds, takes it out puts it back In takes it back out leading to busy people get way over their overdrafts to help them rake in money.. as good as a scam

Disgusting treatment from them after bereavement of my mum.
They won’t let me access her money due to being £1000 over their made up cut off point so now have to apply for probate for what is rightfully mine. Will take ages to do and cost money. Complained and they didn’t even acknowledge my complaint. Luckily I have my own account with them which I can now close. That’s the only satisfaction I have.
Absolutely shocking customer service
Absolutely shocking customer service. I've been trying to cancel a direct debit for 3 months but each time I try and call I've spent over an hour on hold and as a person who works full time this just isn't acceptable. I'm currently on hold right now and have been for 1.5hours. Shambles.
Callous & Uncaring Covid-19 Attitude!
I operate a small limited company in the travel/leisure/sports industry and like everyone else was forced to stop taking bookings in March 2020 due to Covid-19.
Prior to Covid-19 this was a viable little online business that had operated successfully for over 20 years.
During the Covid-19 pandemic our company overdraft (with Yorkshire Bank) has managed to keep pace with our various fixed costs to keep going (bank charges, interest, insurance, hosting, internet, sagepay, overdraft fees etc).
Yesterday our Yorkshire Bank account finally reached its £5K limit and the bank are now bouncing all direct debits and standing orders.
Over the next few months, if we believe anything our government is saying, business may pick back up again... or crash... who knows?
Yesterday, 4th June 2021, I spoke to Yorkshire Bank to see if they would allow my company just £300 per month extra on our overdraft for a couple of months to see if the supposed opening up of the economy and easing of Covid-19 restrictions happens and bookings restart...
They wouldn't budge... and are just continuing to pile on their charges whilst bouncing any DD/SO's that would keep my company alive. I told them they will simply collapse the company for the sake of a few hundred pounds, but they wouldn't budge.
An uncaring company... now part of Virgin Money... Doesn't deserve 1 Star! Thanks Richard Branson...
Appalling bank
Appalling bank. For years I got no statements regarding my savings, then I started getting them. Last year I managed to get onto online banking, with great difficulty, and just when I thought I had got on top of it they go and change my accounts to Virgin Money with absolutely no help whatsoever. I simply got a statement out of the blue which said Virgin Money at the top and I was baffled, I didn't recognise the account and there was no info in there at all. Then I suddenly recognised the amount and realised it was formerly a Yorkshire account, moved over to Virgin with no instructions how to get online and access it. The passwords etc I have written down don't apparently work. Who knows how on earth I can get my account online again. I loathe this bank. They should have given information in the letter they sent me. I already have an account with Virgin Money, did they think that I should go online there? That didn't work either anyway. Totally stuffed and quite a lot of money in there. Very angry. I don't have time for this, they should get their act together! This is no way to treat longstanding customers of any bank. They are utterly and totally clueless!! Disgusted.
Worst customer/banking experience of my life
This is genuinely the worst banking, and in fact worst customer experience, I've ever had. Nothing works, not the online banking, not the app (half the time at least), the helpline cuts you off randomly... Couldn't send a payment of my own money, which almost caused a house purchase to fall through, couldn't get statements because the app decided it didn't want to work anymore, again causing problems with my solicitor during a house purchase. 6 hours on the phone and live chat to try and get a simple payment sent in an emergency situation and no result. Had to call back the next day and eventually get a transfer sent.
Shockingly bad. I paid the other half of the transaction via Natwest online banking in about 2 minutes.
I still haven't got many of the issues resolved and have just been on hold for over an hour before being cut off. I was cut off mid conversation with two agents last week. Is this operation run out of somebody's shed in the back garden, with unreliable phone lines? Don't ever use this bank for business, it's an embarrassment and has genuinely caused massive stress for me. I will be moving banks at the earliest opportunity.
Yorkshire Bank eaten up by Virgin…
Yorkshire Bank eaten up by Virgin Money..... Shock :(
Defund the banks, they absolutely abuse your hard earned income.
Online pending transactions are agonisingly slow and will cost you money and make them plenty under the pretence of "This is normal".
The future will be very different when finance is equal to all "Classes", but I won't hold my breath....
Switch your account after doing some research a.s.a.p.

45 mins on hold what a farce close the branches and expect people to hold 45 mins complete joke.
Yorkshire Bank R.I.P.
I cannot describe how disgusted I am to have a fringe bank foisted on me. I have been a loyal customer of a once proud regional financial institution for 56 years and it is beyond the pail to have been forced to have a tax evading company take over my financial affairs.
Terrible service
Terrible. Business Banked with them for 4 years now and have yet to have a good experience. The customer service line is a joke! Takes ages to get through and when you get through they NEVER resolve your issue! I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
Not a Yorkshire bank
Sadly many people use this bank due to some loyalty to local companies, without realising that it is Australian owned and all the profits go straight to Melbourne
Shambles
Been on hold for over an hour and when finally speak to someone they put me back in the queue. Disgusting. Closing my account and complaining
It's been 25 minutes hanging on the…
It's been 25 minutes hanging on the phone to speak to an advisor at the Yorkshire Bank? There appears to be no one working? Tried previously but gave up after 18 minutes. Didn't have a problem getting through when it was the Yorkshire Bank but now it has changed to Virgin there seems to be a lack of staff ? If this continues l may have to take my business elewhere
I used to be satisfied with Yorkshire…
I used to be satisfied with Yorkshire Bank but, having been taken over by Virgin, it cares little about its customers. I have tried to use telephone banking but this now automatically transfers me to a customer services department which fails to answer the phone. Twice today I have spent 10 mins before hanging up trying to transfer money which would have been done easily in the past. I then tried their online service, I was forwarded a link which did not work. Stay away, I will be transferring my account to another bank.
The Virgin Effect!
Used to be a great bank, good customer service which was easy accessible. Now that it's been taken over by Virgin, it's fallen fowl of their dreaded customer service, with long wait times. With regret, I will be closing all my accounts with Yorkshire Bank after decades of being a loyal customer!
Yet again!!!
Yet again - one star is simply too good. Log on - log off - oops sorry something went wrong. Then have to log back in to check that I have been logged out. The other one is "Challenge Unacceptable" and an additional error message. WHO AM I CHALLENGING - YORKSHIRE BANK TO JUST GET IT RIGHT!!!
Poor business banking
Been waiting now over 8 weeks to open a business account. Every hurdle we get to, we get a vague request for more information, forward information, wait a further week and then another request. This time with every request submitted, we have heard nothing for well over a week. We seem too far into process to pull out and go with someone else while also seriously doubting their customer service.
