SettleProbate is an online tool that helps people in England and Wales handle probate themselves, without paying a solicitor thousands of pounds to do it for them. When someone dies, the person sorting out their estate (the executor) usually has to apply for a grant of probate before they can deal with bank accounts, sell property or pass anything on to the family. People use us instead of a solicitor for two reasons: cost and control. A solicitor can charge well over a thousand pounds even for a straightforward estate. For most simple estates you can do the same work yourself with the right guidance, and keep that money in the estate where it belongs. We try to be straight about what we are and what we are not.
