100% hassle free

Completely hassle free purchase arrived 2 working days after placing order. I purchased 25kg no.4 organic white bread flour. 2 packets of live yeast to get yeast starter and 1kg of wholemeal and dark rye to mix with the white.

Bread is great and no problem with the flour.

DEFO NOT THE SHIPTON MILL I KNEW AND LOVED

I have been bulk buying organic flour from Shipton Mill for years! Today I phoned up to place a £150 order. The lady who answered the phone was so rude! She passed me onto another lady who said she could order my flour in for me, saying it would be ready to collect Thursday. I said great and she replied it might not be here then and then we got cut off. I spoke to my husband and as we were going away, decided to ring Shipton Mill back and place an order for the following week. The lady said well we will order it in but we may have sold it by the time you collect because we don't have room to store! I couldn't win no matter what I suggested so I said forget it and ended the call. DEFO NOT THE SHIPTON MILL I KNEW AND LOVED. Won't be buying from this company again!

Not what I expected

The flours are good, no doubt about it, but what they declare on the website it's not the real thing. I – Italian, from Rome – have been making my own pizza for years and when I moved to UK I started to look for flour to make Roman Style pizza with 80% hydration, which means W idex above 320 and proteins above 13%. The Italian Style flour, on the shipton mill website declares W 340 and protein 13,7%. Cannot make pizza. It's just a muddy, sticky goo with 80% hydration. I either forgot how do do it after years, or they cannot count proteins…

I wanted to just say how refreshingly…

I wanted to just say how refreshingly amazing Shipton Mill’s customer services are. I recently brought a batch of gluten free white bread mix which didn’t act as it should. I emailed their customer service team who went ahead and made a loaf from my batch and agreed something wasn’t quite right. They sent me another batch, FOC unfortunately this batch too had a little something missing. I received a lovely email of apology, a complete refund and as a gesture of good will 6 packets of bread flour that I use to make bread for the rest of my family. I have been using Shipton Mill since Covid and I have never had any issues with any of their products, they have always been amazing. So having this hiccup with a blend of flours that’s hard to get just right I completely understand. It’s the way they dealt with my emails and the professional responses and genuine interaction and wanting to do their best. 10/10 customer services and products 👌🏻 highly recommend! Thank you!

Poor customer service

Poor customer service - time sensitive delivery (fresh yeast) took 10 days to be delivered (no comms) and was therefore useless (wasted multiple loaves etc), got a refund but they didn't even apologise and implied I didn't know how to use the yeast. Expected better.

Finest Product & Great Customer Service

I bought some psyllium husk powder from them not for baking but to be used as a supplement and found it to be by far the finest quality. Their customer service was efficient and responsive when I had to change the delivery address at short notice.

Great service and flour

I bake sourdough bread and pizzas almost every week. I have found their Number 1 flour ( finest ) to be excellent, good value and very tasty.
The crew at the office are always very good if you have a baking question / very kind and polite.

Work environment/ wrongful dismissal

My partner had been working there for 3 month getting on incredibly well enjoying it and working so hard he was getting trained in gluten free and ended up smashing out 300-400 bags a day to then also start getting trained in admin and supervisor role we have just had a newborn baby and since having him we’ve been to drs and to a&e a lot due to many unknown medical issues meaning my partner has had to take time of as many with families know they come first in any situation he has proof of these appointments and a&e pictures but sadly today got dismissed for absence which is complete unfair dismissal and wrong due to the reasons as to why not only do shipton mill not have the employees as most are agency and end up leaving within hours or days showing how “fair and amazing” this place is to also be told constantly by the main manger and supervisor how great he is doing to again then be dismissed by them and I find it funny how one of there employees has had around 16 warning and has not been dismissed is insane and unfair considering he doesn’t work Nearly as hard and is extremely rude and arrogant they pick there favourites and dismiss people with fake reasoning which is not a nice work environment unfair and unrightful dismissal in the work system needs to be brought to light more especially when your working 50 hours a week for a man with millions and millions like many other who are just trying to support themselves and others in a financial crisis which million are ceos can’t understand when they have money to be able to live luxury and have no worries

I have been baking with Shipton Mill…

I have been baking with Shipton Mill Flours since 1985, so in celebration of this 40th anniversary, I thought, time to reflect, and comment.
Over the years of having my own bakery and since a small Deli, where we make all our own bread, I have found the service exemplary, and every query and question taken seriously with excellent follow up.
The products we make with the organic white and wholemeal reliable and very popular.
Thank you Shipton Mill!

Terrible service, long dispatches & wrong products

Almost 2 years of using them in my business primarily because of their gluten-free flours but have to say, terrible customer service. Multiple times, it takes almost two weeks for an order to be dispatched and when delivered, it’s an incorrect (and usually cheaper) flour. They don’t even inform you nor refund the difference. Sadly saying goodbye to them as we grow - when you’re running a business you simply cannot have this many operational mistakes and delays repeated.

Dispatch time is a joke

Dispatch time is a joke. The person in-charge of Shipton-Mill deliveries should be sacked.
I ordered my flour on the 20/10/2024. It’s now the 26/10/2024 and I haven’t heard a word from them. It’s a Saturday today so I can’t phone them till Monday. If they haven’t dispatch my order by Monday I’m going ask them to cancel the order.
I won’t be buying from Shipton-mill again.

Nice flour but atrocious customer service

We have bought a lot of their flour and I have never had cause to comlain about their Organic Bread Flour.
However, I have finally given up. Their customer service and despatch department seem to do whatever they want without reference or discussion with the customer.
Maybe a year ago we ordered 2 x 16kg sacks and we got 1 x 25kg sack and a few small bags. I complained heartely. We are an elderly couple not a commercial business and it is really hard for us to manage or store large sacks. On that occasion they were apologetic.
Then we were short delivered. I complained and they did send the remainder.
Now, a week ago, I ordered 2 x 16kg sacks. We got 2 x 25kg sacks! I complained heartily. Someone rang and got my husband and they refused to talk to him saying they would ring back. They did not. So we had to manage these huge sacks. (we will have to throw out some of it!) Then after a few days I got an email saying they were going to send the smaller sacks and collect the large sacks! They did not ask me first! I emailed them saying DON'T COLLECT ITS TOO LATE. They got cross and said I had suggested they do this, but they did not discuss it first but sent DPD out. They then appeared to have got DPD to return the sacks to their depot.
They don't seem to want a two way conversation at all but just do anything they decide without talking to us first. I am personally fed up with them doing this to us, and with the innefficiency of their despatch department.

Soudough starter…

I had been struggling with my sourdough starter and I rang for a bit of advice. The staff were so helpful in particular the lady on reception who put me through to their baker a gentleman called Chris and Chris who rang me back and sorted out my problem. Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
