Not helpful at all

My elderly parents were selling their home with shipways . It sold quickly . Then you hear nothing from shipways , no updates . My sister acted on behalf of my mom and dad , they never even spoke to my dad even though he was paying them.
Every time you phone up , the person you need to speak to is either on the phone, out the office or in a meeting . They never get back to you. No updates , no help. My mom ended up sleeping downstairs . It was always you will have to contact the solicitor . No phoning anyone to help get this sale through as quickly as possible . It took 6 months for a three way sale. We had a first time buyer , the lady we were buying from moved out of the property .
Her estate agent was brilliant he pushed / contacted for this to go through .
Also , the staff cannot spk to anyone except for the person listed on their books .
They spoke to me several times . They even said , my sister was holding paperwork back .!!
We were trying to get this sale through as quickly as possible .
It made my dad ill , not having any updates .
I would not recommend shipways .

Totally Unprofessional

The majority of my e mails to Shipway's were completely ignored by Oliver Ganderton (Manager) . No one cares to resolve issues. I have to constantly call and email them to chase updates. Would score -5 if I could for poor service. Their Trust pilot score is 2.9 and 71% people have given them 1 star which makes perfect sense for their service.
Suddenly similar multiple reviews are added here praising Oliver to cover 1* reviews that mentioned
Oliver’s bad performance. Seems fake reviews.

Totally unprofessional.

They have an agent that is totally unprofessional.
I felt like I needed to ask if the deposit is ensured with a third party. He answers: ''You're in England, here you have to pay a deposit if you want to rent''. - that wasn't my question anyway.
The guy spoke upon me over and over again, I couldn't finish my phrases,
I know that I sound like a foreigner, but I also know I have good English and I usually get along really good with normal people.
We've managed to schedule a viewing for Friday 3rd of May, even that he was a total jerk.
Today 2nd of May, I wanted to amend the viewing for just the places closer with my work place. He continuously spoke over me and this time I carried on speaking my grief, he got annoyed and hang up in my face,
Such an attitude agents, they are treating you like you are living under the bridge.
Conclusion - completely unprofessional, 100% ego and 0% customer service. A garbage of a company.

Shipways Shirley - fully recommend Amber

I contacted Shipways for a free valuation of my mother's home in August 2023. Amber came to look at the property, and when I explained that the future of the estate was uncertain as Mum was poorly in a care home she was extremely pleasant and helpful. She explained the alternative options for sale and showed professionalism and knowledge when she discussed the value. Since then she has been in touch for an update just 3 times, not applying any pressure. We did not need to sell the house on the open market but if we had I'd have been happy to continue the process with Amber's representation and support.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience at Shipway Estate Agents in Great Barr

I recently visited Shipway Estate Agents in Great Barr (Birmingham) with the intention of speaking to the new manager of the branch, Adnan. However, my experience with their customer service left much to be desired.

Upon entering the premises, I was met with unwelcoming stares from a staff member with a moustache, who seemed to regard me with disdain. Despite this, I politely greeted him and inquired about Adnan. Instead of offering assistance, he simply pointed in Adnan's direction.

Upon approaching the individual he claimed was Adnan, I was informed that Adnan was not available and that I should try again tomorrow. This lack of communication and organization was disappointing, to say the least.

What compounded the issue was the complete absence of any offer of help or inquiry into my needs. Despite the evident confusion and lack of clarity, no effort was made to assist me further or gather any details to pass on to Adnan for follow-up.

Overall, my experience at Shipway Estate Agents in Great Barr was marred by a lack of professionalism and customer care. It's disheartening to encounter such indifference and disregard for customer needs, especially in a service-oriented industry. I hope that the management takes steps to address these shortcomings and improve their customer service standards in the future.

Landlord using Shipways for letting the property

We used Shipways Shirley branch to let our 1 bed flat in Redditch. Lauren has been brilliant in sourcing our tenant within a few days and handled all aspects with professionalism. As a professional landlord who is accustomed to dealing with numerous estate agents, I found Lauren exceptionally good at understanding my situation. I also had dealings with Oli, the branch manager, who was very approachable as well as professional- he explained the zero deposit scheme very well, as I’ve only been familiar with the 5 week deposit scheme and had never used the zero deposit. I would highly recommend Shipways and especially Lauren & Oli.

Terrible estate agents

Terrible estate agents, they will rip you off on the selling fees. The offered to sell my house at £200,000 then two weeks later said the market had crashed and needed to drop the house by 10%. The housing market must have really gone mental in the two weeks..... anyways. Many..... Many weeks later, I eventually sell for £175,000, however they still charged my the commission based on their initial estimate. To be clear........ the communication was awful and the amount of effort they put in to selling the house was terrible. Don't use these guys, use anyone else!

Me and partner went to view a home with…

Me and partner went to view a home with shipways, Shirley. When we got to the property we weren’t made aware it was basically an open house and the estate agent present knew nothing about the property. Later on me and partner did put an offer on the house and was asked to go in on the Wednesday for meeting about our offer. A mortgage advisor called my partner on the Monday but we told them we already had a mortgage advisor in place. My partner then rang the Shirley branch as we hadn’t heard anything about our offer to which we were informed best and final offers had already been asked for from all parties apart us, this poor communication meant my partner and I had no time to fully discuss our best and final offer, to which my partner then had to make a discussion on his own to ensure our offer was still considered for this property. I called the office myself to make sure the ‘meeting’ planned was regarding our offer and not the mortgage advisor to which the girl on the phone said it was about the offer. we both had to book days off work for this ‘meeting’ and was a waste of holiday, the meeting was with mortgage advisor at shipways and not to talk about our offer, although we explained to shipways several times we have our own mortgage advisor. This mortgage advisor asked ME if our offer had been excepted bearing in mind we had only just found out about best and final offers and the vender hadn’t been contacted. Absolutely disgusted with the service provided, would highly recommend to avoid shipways Shirley if possible!

Absolutely Appalling

I sold through Shipway's, after 10 months.

The majority of my e mails to Shipway's were completely ignored.

Despite me giving Shipway's all the correct information about my flat, they initially advertised it as attracting 10 times the ground rent that it actually did.

I informed Shipway's upon instruction, and several times thereafter, who my solicitors were. Astonishingly, in April 2023, they asked me who my solicitors were. Do they not keep records.

In March 2023, I went away for a month. Several days after I did so, Shipway's conducted a viewing. I returned a month later to find my front door unlocked. When I e mailed to complain, I didn't even receive an acknowledgement, let alone an apology.

Shipway's are Hale and Pace's typical R Sole and Sons Estate Agents:

Estate agents may look morons, but you don't find many who are poor ones!

Awful

We have been served a section 8 notice by our landlord , which could make me and my family homeless , after calling shipways harborne today we have been told our our rent payments have not been made , although our bank statements show a payment made to shipways , after speaking to another accounts department we have been told that this could be a payment allocation error , shocking , furthermore the lettings managers attitude is disgraceful

Awful experience and I dont normally write reviews.
Libbie was really unprofessional, constantly had to chase and then still couldn't give us the courtesy of a phone call when property went to someone else.
Told us many time we were the only people interested in a property but then 3 weeks later after constant chasing for updates other people had been chosen.
As an estate agents it's not hard to follow up with all parties interested with a property or be honest from the start! Just unprofessional.

Ignored by letting agent Great Barr

The letting agent just ignored my call and emails. Put me on hold for the last 10 days. Took all my necessary documents and then stopped contacting me. The tenant is living in a hotel now. They advertised that they need tenet immediately. I don't know what is going on but shipways Great Barr letting agent is.....everyone understand now. Just tell me yes or no. Don't hang me in there. You are wasting my time and wasting my money. Putting me in trouble. Can't you give a straight answer?
