Simples with Simpler Law!

I recently met an agent selling wills on behalf of Simpler Law recently at the superstore. The price was very reasonable and as I had been wanting to make a basic will so I asked for some info and went ahead. I was a tad reticent as I thought it would be a complex proceedure, but Simpler Law explained things very clearly to me. I'm very pleased that I went ahead with the process of creating a last will and testament with Simpler Law and any queries were only a phonecall away and dealt with very promptly. I received the will which I got two witnesses to sign. I also received a follow up call from Daniel to make sure that all was ok. He answered my final questions easily and effortlessly. Very happy with the service I received and highly recommend! Natasha Herman

Great company

I was a bit anxious at doing my will but the staff at simpler law (especially will) put my mind at ease. It was such an easy process. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I would give this company no stars

I would give this company no stars, I took a will out for my husband, and myself also power of attorney for me and my husband cost £605 in Feb, at the time I was told that being in Scotland i needed a doctor to sign the power of attorney for both of us, I explained that nor me or my husband hadn't seen our doc since it changed on 2019,i called my doctor but he doesn't sign power of attorney forms .I explained that my son in law was a doctor, and the girl I spoke to Lucy told me he can sign it which he can't. Because he's family. They told me that I could get a lawyer to sign it, I have phoned 7 different lawyers in fife and not one of them will sign it because they didn't do the paper work. This all started in Feb. Any time I contacted simplelaw all they told me a doctor or lawyer would have to sign it they also told me to get in touch with Notary public Scotland and I would get a lawyer in there phoned 7 different ones and none will do it. I have phoned simplelaw since Feb to get help it is now March and I still didn't get help. I have paid £605 and got nothing for it we are pensioners and can't afford to pay out again I wish I have never seen that company on itv shop channel. They are con artists they take your money and won't help. So anyone reading this please don't be cond by this company. I asked for a refund but they wouldn't give me one.

Reply from Simpler Law

Dear Mrs. Brown, while we respect your right to leave a negative review it appears your issues are actually with Scottish law and the actions of doctors, solicitors and notaries in Scotland. The documents we prepared for you are accurate, legal, and will provide the protection for you, should you lose capacity, that you requested.
Unlike England and Wales, under Scottish Law Power of Attorney documents must be witnessed by either a doctor (for preference), a solicitor or a notary public. These are not our rules, but the ‘rule of law in Scotland’. That these individuals choose to flout this is an issue for your MSP rather than us.
We advise our Scottish clients of this and offer advice on our website which is used as a resource for others who have been affected by this situation.

We prepared your documents as you requested, supplied legal documents which meet your needs, and dispatched them to you. This can in no way be considered a con. Having completed everything that we discussed with you, you are no longer entitled to a refund. We wish you all the best in finding someone suitable who will do their duty and witness your documents.

Terrible and upsetting experience

This was hideous. The man who was writing my instructions was rude and obnoxious. The main reason for me doing my will was to have an instruction on a pending inheritance. They failed to come back to me to say this was not possible to do and when I called to chase , the man in question took great pleasure in telling me it
Was not possible.
Please do not use.
It is purely a money racket !

Professional and friendly service.

Telephone calls were on time, explanation of process and the details of the will explained clearly. Plenty of scope to ask questions when I didn't quite understand terminology and wills generally.
