Advertising Domains That Are Not Available - Took My Money!

Recently sitebuilder.com has been advertising domains owned by godaddy. Just put in the domain you want that is already taken, it will say not available, then wait a minute and a window pops up with the domain available. So I paid thinking wow they some how got the domain, but NO I called and spoke to a woman who didn't understand what I was saying she replied constantly with "you bought 2 year package from us, what is problem" after about 10 times of me saying "you charged me $53 dollars and gave me no domain" she forwarded me to technical support, which said we will refund your money in 7 business days. I haven't even seen the reverse of the money. This is a great corporate move to take money from people for a week at least, until they get busted. I will be informing GoDaddy that they are doing this as well.

Awful

Site builders plans are good value for your money & have decent templates. However, the technical support is awful. I asked different people the same question and got different answers, they leave you waiting from 8-20 minutes before answering your query. They read from a script, I say this as when I got frustrated at two of the technicions at separate dates and times, the reply I got from them was "Sorry for the confusion, if this happened to me I would be upset too" hardly professional isn't it? I requested a refund and a cancellation of my account. The man on the chat was happy to help and looked into my refund. He had then told me he cancelled my account but is not authorised to give me a refund. After over an hour of being cut off the chat and me pestering them they finally processed a refund. I am now with go daddy, easier to design and they have phone support!! Lots of good deals and pretty self explanatory. Good luck all but I would avoid site builder at all costs.

You will regret hiring sitebuilder

This sitebuilder takes your money, pretends to activate your website name, but fails to display it anywhere on search engines. They use bogus tech representatives such as "bette davis" believe it or not. Try to get a refund after they tell you to wait 4-6 weeks for the search engines to take effect. You will be waiting 4 - 6 months or more and they will blame you for waiting and charge you for it. They are making all kinds of mistakes and will not once acknowledge any details that you bring to their attention. You are a fool to hire them.

I cancelled on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 7:07pm and it took them 6 months to comply, yet charged me for that period of time that they failed to comply with my very clear order to ((( Cancel ))). I asked them what part of "cancel" that they don't understand. I also added "of course I expect to be reimbursed for the balance" covering the period from July 17, 2016 to April 11, 2017. I am so happy that I kept all the messages that I received and sent and that I do not have email with them. I have a very strong case against them.

EXTREMELY Poor Technical/Customer Support

I had an existing site that needed updating and decided to use site builder. After a few days I had designed a new site and contacted the technical team via online chat, to ask if they could give me the settings to redirect my old site to the new one. I was told that I could only do this if I transferred my domain name to them which would take five working days. I said I thought I could just change some settings, but was told that NO this was not an option. So I agreed to transfer, I set up my account for transfer and sent site builder my transfer details.

After the five days I checked and found neither my old website or new one was working. I contacted them and was asked why I was transferring my domain and why I hadn't just redirected my site!? A little frustrated I asked if we could do this now, but was told that now the transfer was in progress I would have to see it through. I asked why it hadn't already gone through as it was over 5 working days.
I was then told there was an issue with the transfer and she would escalate it to a higher department and assured me it would be fixed within 24hrs.

The next day it was still down, I contacted them again and was told it would be another 24hrs, but they were looking into it.

I tried again the following day to find the website and now email too was not working, and was told the email wouldn't work until the website was up and again to leave it 24hrs.

I emailed site builder twice to explain my concerns, both times the response given was irrelevant to the email sent.

This was all over the Christmas period and went on for another week. By this point I had customers calling me to complain I was not replying to emails.

I contacted them again to complain, and was told that I should of had an email from site builder that I needed to respond to confirming I owned the domain, and where was it sent...... to my business email that was (thanks to them) not working! I gave them an alternative email and was told to wait....... yes, you guessed it....24hrs!!!!

The next day I had NO email, I again contacted them and was told that the email wasn't sent as I hadn't sent the original transfer details over and that I would need to do it again and then after five days I would have my website and email working. I explained I had proof that I had sent the transfer information and an email from them confirming it had been received.

At this point I was so frustrated, I said I wanted a full refund and my account cancelled. They tried to say I was over the cancellation period and the advisor ended our chat before I had finished (again I have screen shots of this)

I started a new chat, I explained I had been cut off, the agent said this was impossible, I said I had screen shots to prove this.. Unsurprisingly he didn't acknowledge this response and changed the subject trying to wriggle out of a refund.

Finally after spelling out the multiple failings on their part, he said they would part refund me as I would have to pay for the month I had been with them!!!???? I refused this offer explaining that I had lost custom and had no website or email for over 3 weeks! He finally agreed to a full refund, but offered no apologies.

All of the above is documented via screen shots or emails. I was at no point unreasonable or rude. My advice is DO NOT USE!!! I set up with WIX on the day I cancelled with site builder and my website and email was up and running that evening!!!

Once you sign up, you will be bound to having your website with them.

Once you sign up you will not have the chance to move your site, because once you cancel your subscription it will all be deleted.
Also you are very limited in what you can do personally. For example you will not be allowed to SiteMap your site (making it appear on google) without paying them, even if you have the means to do it your self. Stay away from this service.

Super frustrating support team, can't seem to solve my issue

Same as everybody here, emails quit working mid December, which in business is unacceptable. Trying to transfer my domain name and they have stalled it to the point where I have contacted support every day for 2 weeks and have heard the same 24-48 hours it will work. Still isn't working and I don't expect it to work. I have started a new account with HostGator and I love it there, the support actually can help me. It does take longer some days to get started with hostgator but it is worth it. I would still have just a webpage with them if they could fix my issues and allow me to get my business webpage to another source but then have a personal page with them as simply hosting a web page they are good at.

Just awful

First (and hopefully last) time I've had to deal with this company. Technical support is done ONLY by chat. I have a client who was hosting with them. They want to renew their domain name but not their hosting package. They originally registered the domain when they signed up with sitebuilder. The rep from tech support tells me the only way to renew the domain is to WAIT TILL IT EXPIRES??? Are you kidding me? Then he proceeded to tell me that that's how all domain name registrars do things. The DNS and site management tools are so dumbed down that it's almost completely useless. You can't change your nameservers and there is absolutely no option to renew your domain name without having to contact chat support. It seems like this is done intentionally frustrate the hell out of customers until the point they just give up and pay the exorbitant hosting fees sitebuilder.com charges. I would definitely not recommend their services.

POSSIBLY THE WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! A

Automated robotic customer service dont expect any real help your get the same answer for everything there are too many issues ive had to list them but basically have been in tears of frustration and had some problem because of there terrible sytems nearly every month with noone willing to fix their problems they wont admit to them nor offer compensation. They have just accidently shut my email account down and said sorry i need to set it up again and cant retrieve a years worth of emails ive lost important docs invoices the lot! I asked for my ep code to transfer my domain and after 6/7 aggressive emails my end i got it but they cancelled the website in the same breath so am now starting afresh with godaddy glad to be out of it and the difference they are helpful knowledgeable and to taln to a person that will help you is such a relief my advise STAY AWAY or if you already fell for the top 10 webbuilder ad and went with them BACK UP EMAILS, tags anything to do with seo cancel direct debits and then get pin cos they chucked you out on your ear and will charge you for it. Devestated and cant believe they are acting legally.

Awful service

I'm afraid I'm not remotely surprised to read so many bad reviews of this company. They are hands down the worst company I've ever dealt with.
STAY AWAY!!
I've received awful customer service, I've since cancelled my account and they owe me a refund on my remaining balance (as I didn't use my 2 year account). I've exchanged roughly 20 emails in the past week, all of which contain very similar wording from the customer service representative. I suspect the responses are automated or scripted.
Suffice to say, they keep giving me the same poor excuse as to why they can't process the refund, whilst ignoring any other questions I've asked.
Incredibly frustrating.

No email service for weeks .. sitebuilder is not able to fix it

my email account is not working for weeks, people sending me emails are getting a undelivery message when writing to that account... daily email from sitebuilder please be patient... but it seeems they have no clou what the problem is... personally I can not think of a technical issue that needs weeks to resolve for a simple email account ... unless the company is in general trouble.
Would not recommend that company or service to anybody else.

Would give zero stars if I could!!!!!!!

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! This company is a JOKE and I am moving my website once they activate it again (right, activate it AGAIN after they took payment out of my bank account). One customer service rep told me that they don't do auto renewals on domains. Another rep told me there was a glitch in the system and it didn't autorenew. There is always a glitch with them! My emails never work. I once went weeks without my emails working and people would try to email me, but I did not know they would bounce back unless the individual told me. If a new client was trying to reach me, I just missed out. Nothing was offered for compensation or ever offered for compensation in that case. I only receive apologies and they expect me to be understanding of the situation when they are never understanding of mine.

My website is used for my business and I have missed out on multiple clients because of this poorly run company. I get so angry that I want to cry at times. They only care about themselves and not how I have to have shelter, lights, and feed my family.

NOW, my website is inactive for 4 days now because there was a "glitch" in the system that didn't allow my FREE domain to be automatically renewed. Keyword here, FREE DOMAIN! I can see if my payment was held up or maybe I switched credit cards and they could not get payment. NO. It's a free auto renewal process! That means there is nothing I can do. Again, NO compensation, only apologies and a "fix" process that will always take 24 hours to do. Everything with this company takes 24-48 hours to fix. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The savings are not worth it and to be honest, they are no cheaper than anyone else because they make you pay for each individual service that would normally be included in other service packages with other companies.

I threatened to leave the company and the representative assisted me with how to move my domain to another host instead of offering compensation for my business. Then, he told me I cannot move my domain until my website is up, but of course, they won't put it back up. I believe they are doing this on purpose now and I am looking to sue or start a class action lawsuit in case others have been scammed the same way, which looks like it to me.

UNBELIEVABLE! I told him with as much as they have put me through, I deserve a year of free hosting. He told me that it is not possible (I'm sure. I can't even get $10 off). I pray that my business is so successful that I am able to shut this company down! They will probably do it themselves at the rate they are going. They could really care less about your business. They love to give you automated messages to fix your problem, which is the first step of a scam. The call center is run by foreigners who only go by the scripts they are given. It's gets so annoying to the point where you want to drive to the UK from the US and curse curse them out. SMH. This company is a ripoff!

IF I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT A MIGRAINE EVERYDAY!

Absolute shambles of a service. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THESE CLOWNS!!!

Having the same email issues as most people on here too, they have no idea what it is or how to resolve the issue; a lot of missed business. I keep being told to wait 24-48 hours... now 9 days later and still not fixed!

Transfer your domains and emails asap

I have just read umpteen comments that are all the same..this company is terrible. Me, Im struggling to get email up, transfer my domains, get a truthful answer from tech support or billing support. they are happy to take your money but not happy to provide the simplest service.

Im unsure of the number of hours or BS chatting I've gone through with these people but it is a lot. If you run a business, and need email, or a website, then DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I am about to submit an article to PC Mag about this company and how it falsifies its ratings, charges fraudulently and sells a product it does not and can not deliver.

Horrible customer service..so very bigly bad company, almost a scam

I signed with sitebuilder after seeing great reviews on (thetop10sites.com and top10bestwebsitebuilders.com. Turns out, these sites are fake. They have horrible customer service. no 800#. I transferred my domain after only going thru 8 of the 12 months and it took them a week to accomplish the most simple of tasks. Even my web developer couldn't understand how incompetent this company is and he's dealt with many site hosting companies.

Horrible Customer Service

I am an Attorney. I wanted an email that had my own website for the ending. However, I am about to switch to an outlook email address for business purposes because it's been a week and a half and site builder is incapable of resolving my issues. My issues began with my renewal. I paid them on the 10th of December for a second year of service. However, on the 25th of December, my site went down. I contacted customer service, and they spent a full 24 hours fixing that issues. Once my site was back up, email wasn't working. I've contacted their crappy technical support (only able to be reached via email or chat window) 3 times now across a week and a half. Most recently, I spoke with them this morning. I get the same crappy canned answers each time. Every time I speak to them they say my email will be working in 24 hours. I am now simply waiting to be able to pull all the Emails I need out of that account. At that point, I will cease to use them. Update everyone that my email address has changed, and ask them for a full refund. Do not trust this company with your business. They will cost you business because they are incapable of providing the services for which you paid. At no point has anyone offered me any compensation for the time, aggravation, and loss of business. I cannot stress enough how horrible their support is.

Avoid this company. Customer support is horrible!

Looks like not only me experiencing the issue with e-mail access. My e-mail is not working for a week. Contacted Support last week and every time when you contact them the story is the same ' Please allow 24 hours to resolve the issue'. It's been a WEEK and it's still not resolved!
It's not the first time when I have the issues with my e-mail!

Awful customer service and attitude

I run a photo editing site, and chose site builder after looking around the internet. They looked a good choice...
Good site building tools, reasonably priced...
However.. lots of add-ons... Unreliable business email -regularly crashing,or not accessible. Tech supports answer to this was to try a different browser- as if opera/firefox/google chrome/I.E wasn't enough..

To be honest, all was good for first year, until I cancelled priority support, and to my surprise, my email access was cut off...
This has so far continued for 4 days now - with promises during live chat (they have not replied to any sent emails), that this was a situation that was being looked into and would soon be resolved... It was the same old clap trap rubbish every time I contacted them.
In the end I resorted to threatening them with placing bad (but honest) reviews around the web, to warn others. Still nothing.
I asked to be informed of the problem, and speak to a manager- of which neither has happened. There has been no explanation.
I am still without e-mail. I have now had to change my e-mail address on my site.
I cannot reply or contact existing customers as I have no access to my site-builder e-mail. Customers have been let down.
I am very angry with site builder.
I put customer service first. Because of them, I now have customers who have been let down. This is really unacceptable.
I now will be going about transferring my domain and site to a reputable company who are trustworthy..
Though I will not comment or pass judgement, I have read quite a few bad things about site builder in the last few days.. I would urge any one considering signing up with them to check reviews thoroughly before getting on board with them.
All site builder had to do was to respond to me, explain the situation, address my concerns, and show customer care... they had no interest in this, so I hope that this teaches them a lesson, and hits them in the pocket..
Maybe then there attitude will change and they will give the customer care and service that should be given.
In short, think very carefully before signing up with these amateurs....

Poor support for email

In agreement with Peter Walker. Noticed that my business email was no longer working from about the 14th December. Contacted Shitebuilder support but got fobbed off with "our admin are aware of the issue and are working to resolve" and then cut me off. That was 5 days ago. Tried again on the 19th to speak to support, got the exact same response and to wait 12-24hrs after asking if the issue would be resolved tomorrow, next week or next year.
Still not working and nothing on their website to let users know that there is a problem. A minimum courtesy would have been to send an update about the issue to the users registered email address.
Very poor service and will not be continuing to use Shitebuilder.com
