  1. Ski Shop

Written by the company

Our motto of “Gear for Skiers by Skiers” is about as real as it gets. We’re not some city shop that’s nowhere near a mountain; we live and play in the heart of the Green Mountains in Stowe, Vermont. We have access to the best terrain and snow on the east coast, and we take full advantage of it. We actually get on the skis we sell to ensure that you find the proper setup for you. Based in Stowe, Vermont, SkiEssentials.com has come a long way over the years. Starting out 30 years ago as Bedside Tuners, a small tune shop in Stowe, the company grew to become what are now Pinnacle Ski and Sports and Inner Bootworks. The online business was a logical next step, and we made our first online sale in the basement office of our brick and mortar store in October of 2004, and we haven’t looked back since.

Customer Service Above and Beyond the Call

Ski Essentials replaced a ski brake I broke, and the warranty has expired! My purchase of skis and bindings in 2019 was great - I got exactly what I wanted at the best price anywhere. But when I bent up one of the brakes on my Marker Griffons this season I fully expected to buy a replacement. Not this time! When I inquired about a replacement, Ski Essentials said they would send me one for free even though it is outside the warranty period. Awesome!!! Thank you, Ski Essentials!!

UPDATED: Ski Test videos helpful but customer service not

**Updated 4/09/22 from 1 star to 4 stars **

Thank you, Pat for reaching out to make things right and for warrantying the defective skis. I wanted to also say that while I am thankful we arrived at a good place, this is the level of customer service I would have expected right out of the gate from SE. A customer should not feel like they have to leave a negative review to be heard, and I feel we could have come to this same solution through more listening, trust and empathy.

Thank again to you and the CS team for working hard to come to an agreeable resolution.

** End update **

SE's ski test videos were helpful in deciding my next pair of skis so I decided to support them with my business even though my local ski shop had the skis I wanted in stock and cheaper. Just had them mounted and I just noticed there is a defect in the sidewall. I sent pictures to SE and they told me that they "checked with the rep" who happened to be in the shop at that very moment (quite hard to believe) and they said "That will in no way affect the performance of the ski and is not defective". But there clearly is a defect, and even the local corporate rep agrees. SE is choosing not to do anything about it. I am escalating this issue and have learned my lesson — this is the first and last time I will support SE.

Buyer beware, no customer service

Purchased some skis online from this shop. They delaminated under foot so I contacted them to file a warranty claim. The first few emails they responded but after that they refused to reply or call me back. Then they stated that I damaged them so the warranty claim was denied. Even after I provided photos that clearly showed that was not the case. I even offered to ship the skis for inspection at my cost. No response. When I asked for a case reference number for the manufacturer, no response. Elan doesn’t even seem to have any record of my claim when I contacted them.

I’ve never had such poor service in this industry. Avoid at all costs.

I never write online reviews but the disrespect by this company is deep so I felt compelled to write. It is one thing to get a claim denied (which is upsetting itself), but to be treated this poorly during the process is completely infuriating.

Honest reviews and great service

I was looking for new skis this season after finally getting fed up with my current ones. While researching various brands and types of skis, I came across several in-depth reviews by SkiEssentials.com. They definitely narrowed down what I was looking to buy. When I was ready to buy, the price was great and the service stellar. Very happy to support businesses like this.

Great customer service

Great customer service, response time and price! We ordered 2 sets of skis with bindings boots and poles. Way better than renting if you ski more than a couple times a year!

First place I will look next time

We have now gotten 3 ski packages from Ski Essentials. They have proven themselves to be a trustworthy store and offer the best prices and selection that I've found. The skis/boots/poles that I've bought for myself, my wife, and now my son have been perfect. We're not professionals . . .I personally have been a skier for 30 years, but my family has skied now for only about 3 years. We all know that this gear is not cheap, but we quickly tired of the cost and hassle of renting. We decided to buy our equipment and haven't regretted the decision a bit. I feel that buying the whole ski package is the way to go in lieu of piecing it together, but again, I'm not a pro. It takes the guesswork out of making sure the components will match and are proper for each other. The latest order we placed, for my son, was time sensitive and toward the end of the ski season. I passed this along to Mike at Ski Essentials. He replied to my email and noted that they would get them out as soon as possible. They did. I ordered them on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend. Ski Essentials shipped the whole package by Saturday afternoon and we received it a few days later. That really impressed me. I'm very grateful that, though we live in a non-skiing state (Indiana), we have the ability to have quality equipment, at a fair price, shipped and delivered quickly. They've earned the first spot that I will look to for our next purchase.

Ski Essentials has the best customer…

Ski Essentials has the best customer service. I've ordered several pair of skis from them. Their prices are the best, shipping is fee and very quick. They are very responsive via phone and email. This is important when spending hundreds of dollars on an item. They even gave me store credit when the price of a recent pair of skis dropped. They are awsome

Couldn't be happier -- great skis, service, shipping

I had some terrible experience with rental skis and decided it was time to buy my own. Ahead of another ski weekend, I put in an order hoping that it would arrive in time.

The team at Ski Essentials went above and beyond in so many ways to make sure I got the gear I wanted and it arrived the day I needed them.

Thanks to Mike, Eric and Chris for making this one of the best online shopping experiences I've ever had.

How long would they have waited to tell me it’s not in stock?

I waited 4 days after ordering to email to see when item woudl ship. I was told a few more days. I waited a week send another email. Took 4 days for a response of the item is sold out. So if I didn’t email them how long would they have waited? The same sales person apologized offered me to exchange. So I did. They waited 3 days to respond to the email stating because I ordered through PayPal I would need to cancel the order for the exchange. The. They ghosted me. Nothing no exchange just a complete waste of my time.

I ordered 2 pairs of skis and poles

I ordered 2 pairs of skis and poles. One set arrived damaged. I snapped a picture and sent to them by email Spoke to Mike and within 30 minutes they told me they were mounting a new pair of skis and sending them out which I received today that were in great shape. I was very happy with the overall process and experience.

Despite the supply chain and shipping chaos, these guys know customer service!

I purchased a back country xc ski package with SkiEssentials in early August 2021 after conducting major research online to find specific components. SkiEssentials had all three components I was looking for in a single package AND for a very reasonable package price. With supply chain issues and shipping issues blah blah blah, I had a pretty low bar of expectations for product availability and service.

SkiEssentials crushed it--despite three months of waiting (not their fault) I got the whole package in time for my first outback trip. With every fevered email I sent requesting information and status, these folks always responded faithfully within 24 hours whether there was new information or not. I really appreciated the reassurance that I was on their radar while they awaited delayed products.

I would definitely buy from them again and will recommend them to family and friends.
