So far so good

So far so good. A really simple process and an easy to use eSIM. Helpful staff on hand when I had one issue which was down to my stupidity.

Can’t receive calls or texts!!!!

The actual app and ease of use is good and the price point is also ok.
However I have been without a phone number for a week as I requested to transfer my number over. I can’t receive calls or texts and when I call out it shows as a private number with no option to change.
This should have been picked up without me having to realise. Spoke with CS last night and nothing anyone can do until today. We shall see what happens.
Not a good start for me

A breath of fresh air a company that knows how to treat its customers. I hope the other networks are looking over their shoulders. Well done slice. George was exceptional. Humanity has been restored. 😎👍🏽

Very impressed so far

Smooth transition from my old network. 7 day free trial and huge discount for the first 3 months. Customer Care is 2nd to none, friendly, helpful and genuinely care about ironing out any niggles. Felt like I was talking to mates. Highly recommend.

another Slice of Lycamobile UK

EE provider, top speeds but the esim data keeps disconnecting from the network on a iPhone 14.

Customer care:
Slice “community” app only access forum staff are obnoxiously rude and overzealous, when they ask you do something and you comply they ban you anyway even after compliance & that you’ve explained in the first instance the problem is at their end. No support provided once banned from “community”.

The customer service is on par with sister Lycamobile UK which still has a massive security breach ongoing where cardholders card details a year after the telecom Regulator Ofcom is involved that customers ordering Lycamobile are having widespread fraudulent activity or their provided card details, this I was assured with sister Slice was circumvented with the Apple Pay facility Lyca UK don’t offer.

Both companies staff are well below even the poorest levels of customer care.

I have now had to raise two separate Ofcom ‘Code of Practice’ complaints against Slice for its failings including one under the Equality Act 2010, further a “community” post I put up stating their “Accessibility Policy” fell well below the legislation was just ignored.

Slice mobile service:

Apart from the regular esim data disconnects:

No international calling/texting or roaming facility, only EU (capped at 30GB, EE has 50GB) which are available on sister Lycamobile.

Lycamobile UK has unlimited data for £25 with 100 international minutes (or £30 including international minutes). Slice has no international access let alone free. Lyca UK also has bundles/bolt ons. Slice only offers EU bundle/bolt ons for data when your inclusive EU roaming bundle included in your plan runs out.

Outcome: Slice is just a rebranded Lyca UK esim only provider, it provides less than its sister and less customer care than its sister (who would have thought that was possible!).

There are many other EE network Mobile Virtual Network Operator providers that provide better than Lyca or Slice, Mozillion for example £22 unlimited data with the same EU only restrictions as Slice but cheaper, you can also buy months service plan in advance to make the monthly cost cheaper. A recent promotion bagged me Unlimited for £15 per month (no annual rises), Mozillion has less network priority than Slice I think but 5G is 150-200Megs, on Slice it was 200-250 on average.

Mozillion works out better on price and physical sim data stability than Slice.

Spusu is another EE MVNO, unlimited data frequently more than not is £29.90 than the £34.90 ‘headline’ price, it may only have 15GB EU data but it does have (like Lycamobile UK) free 500 minute calls (to EU only).

Current other Spusu plans are a also a better deal with a physical sim:

Tariff GB mins/SMS £

S20 20* unlimited £9.90

S40 40* unlimited £10.90

Travel 25(UK/EU) unlimited £9.90

*UK data, EU capped at 15GB

Summary:

Shop around, the headline pricing and eSIM offer of Slice aren’t market leading, they don’t even match their Lycamobile UK sister on service, offers or customer care.

The same for half the price of Slice on Mozillion was the perfect deal for me, the Mozillion customer care interaction was also the polar opposite of Lyca/Slice, actually trained, polite & helpful.

Slice: Not cheap, not full service, not very interested in customer care other than upto taking your hard earned cash.

Also Slice, they don’t even acknowledge data protection requests or complaints you’ve send to them via email. Even sister Lyca U.K. do.

It might be Vodafone’s fault or their fault but I’m out of reach…. No signal, no data, no calls, no messages, nothing that involves internet connection
I need live traffic information for commuting and everything else
The solution is: to use a different number whilst they look into this…. Nightmare

Just moved over to slice recently from a well known provider whose service is at best poor. Slice on the other hand provided a very smooth transition of my number within 24 hrs as agreed no messing or nonsense and coverage is brilliant. So far so good 😊

Excellent new network.

So happy I found Slice! After months of searching, I finally found a great deal with a network that uses EE, with the added bonus of being community-driven like GiffGaff (who I was with for 12 years). Slice offers full access to all EE bandwidths, a fantastic app, eSIM, 30GB of EU roaming data, and exceptional customer service. Plus, there’s a double data plan for life and 20% cashback each year for new users. A really great loyalty incentive. Super happy. Beats 1p network for value, and EE themselves for everything else. The word will spread fast about Slice, and I suspect they’ll be very big in a couple of years time.
