I recently moved into a new house and…

I recently moved into a new house and the boiler hadn't been serviced in two years, so no heat, no hot water and then I got sick! I used Solv's incredibly easy and efficient online booking service to book an appointment and when I started feeling worse, phoned Barbara at Solv to see if someone could come out sooner. Eamon from Solv came and within an hour I had full heating and hot water! So grateful for a fantastic service. Highly recommended.

Professional Service

Having had a run in with a few cowboys over the years it was great to be introduced to Solv by a friend. We used Solv to replace our gas boiler and shower over a year ago. This involved moving the boiler and the hot water storage into the roof space. James and the team were brilliant and kept us informed throughout. We use Solv every year to inspect our boiler and the service is convenient and top class.

Not so great

I have a 3 year old oil boiler. serviced for the first time last year by Solv.
Service was great and professional.
This year I again requested a service online and paid upfront.

The engineer was polite, but pointed out that he was not able to replace the nozzle because he didn't carry the part. He really should have as it was clear on the job order what the boiler make and model was.

It took him a little over an hour to complete the work.

Where my annoyance comes in is:
1. Tried to get me to pay an extra fee because it took him longer than the hour.
2. Not replacing a nozzle because he was not carrying a part. Telling me it Should be okay until next year.
3. Terms and conditions clearly state that with fixed priced agreements there will be no additional or reduced costs regardless of the time taken.
4. There were no unforeseen circumstances to warrant the additional charges.

While the engineer did not have the specific part in stock during this visit, we have taken your feedback seriously and have added the nozzle to our list of stocked parts to ensure that such situations can be avoided in the future.

We understand any frustration caused by the request for an additional fee due to the extended service time. This work does come under ‘hourly rate work’ as opposed to ‘fixed rate work’ which is laid out on the booking form. The engineer reported that the main and secondary heat exchangers needed to be cleaned which added extra time to the overall service.

Regarding the issue of not replacing the nozzle and suggesting it should be okay until next year, we understand your concern. The engineer's decision was based on his assessment of the nozzle's condition and his experience in servicing boilers. However, we will ensure that our team communicates better regarding such decisions in the future.

We want to assure you that we are committed to improving our services based on your valuable feedback. If there's anything else we can do to address your concerns or improve your experience with us, please don't hesitate to reach out.
