The engineer arrived right on time and nothing was too much trouble, including an immediate trip through rush hour traffic to the supplier to get the required part. The part was installed and working in a short space of time.

Issues after yearly service

The engineers were polite and professional. The booking process was fast and simple. The boiler was serviced by Solv in mid September with a clean bill of health. The next day the boiler started to make deep loud rumbling sounds but continued to work. A further two visits by Solv engineers costing a total of over £140 did not resolve the issue. The boiler now only works intermittently and is due to be looked at shortly by an Ideal engineer.

Upon reviewing the details of your case, it appears that during the initial service in September, our engineer performed safety checks, serviced the boiler, and conducted tests, all of which showed no apparent issues. It was only in November, two months later, that we received a breakdown booking via our online booking system, reporting intermittent rumbling sounds. As the engineer had left the boiler serviced in good working order back in September, we were unable to class this as continuation of a job so it was charged as a breakdown.

At the initial breakdown visit in November, our engineer, despite finding the boiler operational and not making any noise at that time, took proactive steps, including cleaning the gas injector. Recognising the report of persistence of intermittent noise from yourself, the engineer then suggested a potential gas valve replacement if the noise was to continue.

We were then contacted a subsequent time a week later reporting ongoing noise, this was then charged with continuation time to cover our engineer attending your property to investigate which they did, checking the gas valve, cleaning the venturi, and performing a thorough examination. Unfortunately, the cause of the noise remained elusive during this inspection, the engineer then proposed the warranty call. It's worth mentioning that the warranty call was facilitated as the boiler is still within its warranty period, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the situation.

We understand your frustration and are committed to resolving the issue to your satisfaction. Sometimes, faults necessitate manufacturer checks. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we wait to hear the feedback of an Ideal engineer during the upcoming visit. If you have further concerns in the meantime, please reach out to our customer service team.

Booking the service was very…

Booking the service was very straightforward. This aspect gets 10/10.

I was contacted on the morning of the service to confirm the booking and also that engineer was en route. This aspect was great.

Engineer arrived on time. Again 10/10. He was friendly.

There was only one aspect. It was a bit unnerving but of no lasting significance. I am not detailing this but if the company wishes to enquire I am happy to relate.
