The class was pretty good, I would have liked a little more hands on practice during the initial demonstration to help retain the instructions, but in general a good class, great facilities!

From beginner to expert, the class offered some valuable tips and information from the selection of ingredients and substitutes to tips on preparation as well as cooking ahead. An informative and enjoyable experience; well worth the cost in time as well as money.
I loved attending this cooking class. Sherri Castle was a load of fun and provided tips that were valuable to both beginner cooks and more experienced ones. Cooking is my favorite hobby and I was worried that I wouldn't really learn anything new at the class, but I was wrong!
The food was tasty, too.
Joan Nathan herself was wonderful. However, the microphones were not properly adjusted for her voice to carry to the back where I was sitting - and I have excellent hearing. I made at least 2 requests for the mikes to be fixed better and nothing was done. Furthermore, the camera operator kept forgetting to focus on the FOOD preparation. I needed to use the screen to watch because of where I was sitting and I often couldn't really see what I needed to.
I have taken several cooking courses at SS and this was the most disappointing on a technical and preparation level. Usually, the helpers have everything out - or know where it is - and are tuned in immediately to what the guest chef needs. This was lacking in the Joan Nathan course.
These are expensive classes and, even if I am the only one with this kind of review, you should take pains to keep us coming back.
I've been taking classes since the school started.
The staff at Southern Season's Cooking School do a phenomenal job presenting their own cooking classes, both demo and hands-on, as well as bringing in talented and personable guest chefs. The most recent I attended was Chef Keith Rhodes from Catch Restaurant in Wilmington and have already re-created 2 of the recipes at home. Highly recommend Southern Season and their cooking classes for everyone who delights in good food! The portions are great and I often take some home. Delicious wine pairings help round out the evening of culinary entertainment.
This is the whole package for a nice evening out.
Loved all the technique tips, behind the scenes stories of the culinary world, humor of the instructor, amazing recipes!
Although chef was very well informed, he attempted to do too much. Often had to move among recipes and he was clearly under pressure. Don't know if latter made him impolite to volunteers (only the women) but it seemed unnecessary and not humorous
Joan Nathan was an engaging teacher. But the three dishes that she chose to cook didn't all turn out well - in her opinion - and that was disappointing. I would love to do a class where there is more class hands on opportunity to participate, but Southern Season may not do its classes that way.

Our kids asked me when could they come back for another cooking class. They loved it!!
Used to love Southern Season. Unfortunately they have gone completely downhill since bankruptcy. They no longer honor their gift cards and the one class that I have attended since the acquisition was a total disappointment. Advanced gingerbread house decorating was like a young child's holiday themed party. I can believe I paid $50 for it. First, the woman teaching it was not knowledgeable of the subject. She made frosting so runny, it was a challenge to get candy to even stick to the house. They also didn't have enough candy and suggested we go buy more from the store ourselves. For the price of the class, enough candy should have been provided. Not sure I will ever sign up for another class at SS.

I have found the last two hands on classes wasteful of time. I will only attend non hands on from now on unless targeted for more advanced cooks. A long lesson in cutting onions, for instance, wasn't a good use of time for someone like me who has attended dozens of culinary classes. Could you offer hands on for more experienced home cooks?

Ordering online was easy and package went from NC to MI in just 3 days.
Got this as a present for a southern girl who relocated for love. She misses home, so the first chance we got, we sent her the Heritage basket. She loved it and took pictures of what it looked like. Honestly, was a lot bigger than I expected and was very professionally done (hate it when I order baskets and such and nothing looks like what I ordered).
Would highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.
So far all I have done is purchase the class. Of course the review should be of the actual class.
I ordered a box of chocolate cordials for a friend undergoing chemo for her cancer. These have become her favorites too. Shipping was prompt and excellent customer servive.
Southern Season a truly unique experience and wonderful establishment.
One if the first places we head with out if town guests. It is our go to emporium-be it to shop for local items from the impressive array of home items to food to wines and beers; a place to dine ; or to take a fabulous cooking lesson. We also go once a week at least to eat or to pick up ingredients. My husband also sneaks in a weekly trip to the candy shop. One if the first places to make us feel "at home" after moving from NY metro area.
