I have been using Arthur and Specialist Mortgages for more than 20 years to manage a complicated portfolio of BTL mortgages. The fact that I am still with them and have personally recommended them to dozens of friends and work colleagues over the last 20 plus years is evidence of the very high esteem I hold Arthur and his team. We first met James back in 2015 when we were renting a property and once we got chatting we mentioned that we would love to be able to buy our own property, our situation as a couple was a little more complicated and we had been advised (wrongly) by brokers that we would not be able to obtain a mortgage. 2016 we bought our first house this was all thanks to James who advised us correctly and the process was really smooth. Fast forward to 2019 we moved house and again used James to obtain a new mortgage which again was a smooth process even though our situation as a couple was still complicated he managed to secure us a bigger mortgage and fast forward to 2023 we looked to move house again and again James secured another mortgage and February 2024 we moved into our forever home. We will continue to use James whenever our mortgage products are due for renewal. We would highly recommend James, he is professional, efficient and friendly. We had no hesitation recommending James to family & friends.

We initially sorted our mortgage with James when we moved into our first home 2 years ago and he was very helpful with sorting out everything for us to make it much less stressful. We have now remortgaged our home and had the help of James as well as Lynda this time and we were given the best options to go with in this quite difficult market at the moment. Overall a very friendly and knowledgeable experience and would recommend.

James came highly recommended from a number of family members who he has assisted in the past. James was very thorough in his market sourcing and negotiated some of the best mortgage deals and rates in the market, compared to others. Kept us in the loop throughout and was always available to talk through and assist in the decision making process. It was reassuring that we had a one stop shop to deal with any queries, which James handled promptly and professionally.

I STRONGLY recommend this company :)! They're based in Scotland, and I am in England, but the distance did not matter at all, so don't be put off by that.

I was a single female first time buyer and used my own savings (girl power lol😉💪). My dad had used them before so recommended them to me. Mark was the broker and Lynda was the Mortgage Administrator. They instantly found me a great mortgage product, and did not mess me about trying to sell me life insurance, wills, home insurance or annoying addons that so several other companies had tried to do.

Lynda was always so friendly and excited for me, both on the phone and email. She really got me excited for moving in and decorating, which was lovely because I was a bit nervous with such a huge life step! Both Mark and Lynda kept sending me and my solicitor improved rates (both on email and post) so between the time I received the mortgage offer in principle and the time I had moved in, my mortgage rate had gone down by 0.8%, saving me an extra £100/month which was great.
