Product details

Brand: Spitfire Audio

A celebration of un-notated traditions passed down through generations, and captured through the magic of sampling, Albion Solstice explores the visionary artistry from modern, folk, and heritage instruments. Passionately curated, this library transcends genre to give you everything you need to create modern cinematic scores. The breadth of instrumentation and alternative techniques that forms the nucleus of this composing toolkit is staggering. Inspired by our rich and varied musical heritage, Solstice is a wellspring of opportunities featuring strings, brass, and woodwind accompanied by unique instruments from nyckelharpa, Celtic fiddles, hurdy-gurdy, and modern synthesizers, percussion performances, and much more. This is not a library to create folk music with, but simply everything you need to create cinematic scores for today, inspired by the past.

The library in itself is wonderful. However, there were some silly issues which I found quite annoying, like not being able to transpose certain Strums/patterns/chords, which renders these particular articulations unusable. I had submitted a discussion on the Spitfire forum (under the Albion Solstice Category).

This is one of my favourite Spitfire products. Much to explore and very usable, but a little different too, which helps make something sound a little more unique. The orchestral parts are varied and sound very intimate, but not too small or as delicate such as in Neo. I think the eDNA part of the library is the most interesting aspect in that you can load up the orchestra's sounds, or those that Christian and co have made. The Evolution grid gets a little loud due to most of the strings becoming crescendos, but it's great.

A beautiful library with a unique charm. Don't forget to check out the Cassette Orchestra folder.

This was my first library and I know it will not be the last! I must say that I really hate Kontakt and I normally stay away from this environment when purchasing sample libraries. That being said, I must admit that the Flash sale and the quality of the product made it a not think twice purchase. I have really been enjoying it so far! It really gives a nice touch to my music. I like to make bass music with little touches of ethnic / cinematic feeling.

Great samples, but ugly and confusing UI. Should be more simplistic for sound design.

Right now I only research its features and presets. Today I tried to combine it with other Spitfire Audio products, which I have, such as Tundra, Olafur Arnalds Composer Toolkit and LABS. What is significant for me - they go well with each other. And even in BBCSO there are some presets, which I can use in combination with Solstice (not all, but for me is enough) So with this collection of VST-i I at last have got opportunity to start making albums, which I was planning before. Thanks!

This is a great library although I'm yet to find much use for this library. At this point in time I've only found a couple of instruments that are useful: The Callers, The Hosts (choir) and The Mystics (Pipes). Other than that I have found that other free sample libraries, such as Spitfire labs and BBC discover are a great help to achieve my goal as a working composer and would like to have gotten BBC Core instead of Albion solstice.

A unique and beautiful sounding library. It fills a gap in my sample libraries that isn't filled by anything else. Is there any better reason to buy something?

I have to admit I was totally surprised by this one cause so far for me Spitfire was mainly "orchestral" (which I dont really use/need) and (to) pricy (for me). Stumbled over this in a VI forum thread which was not the usally marketing thing and realized soon that this was totally different and absolutly my stuff (celtic, folky, ambient in this way) and all and so much stuff so very playable put together. And with the special Solstice flash sale (the relation to the day came much later I have to admit...). I dont know when I watched a nearly hour long video with really fun, interest and curiosity as this one where I really felt that the nice scottish lady exactly represents the musical background where I feel at home and which is totally different to the "usual" Spitfire stuff. So Ireally needed to get this like usually I only needed to get some Tarilonte libraries :-). And after playing round with it for some days now I am totally happy with it and that I "by accident" stumbled over this great deal. There is so much content in it, it is really like having a bunch of bands at your service. This even brings me back to looking into EDNA Earth again which I once got in a cheap deal but really never used much. But with the need to deal with the engine in Solstice I looked on it from another view now. Really great library that will keep me busy for a long time and will be in many songs coming I am sure.

Albion Solstice takes you away from traditional orchestras, far away to the Scottish mountains and forests, presenting you an organic, folk driven sound that asks questions, delivers answers, and funds you're curiosity. Albion Solstice sets itself apart from the vast majority of others in its unique style, giving you an in-depth capability to create, score, or to simply frolick with ideas in it's vast fields of artistry and generational history.

My first Albion purchase and I could not be happier with the unique breadth of useful sounds.

Sounds very different from other Albions, a very distinct vibe.

Bit late to get this one and early days playing with it but so far it’s fantastic..

An excellent and deeply inspiring bundle of various instruments and articulations that just oozes character. It's positively overflowing with creativity. Honestly, this is one of Spitfire's finest - and I'm usually critical of them. While the sections are smaller (and I'd argue that in a library like this that's a plus), you get a lot of content that's sort of unique, or at least if you wanted to fetch it yourself, it would be spread out and time-consuming to find, and because it's curated together fairly well you'll get a bundle that actually matches its marketing. I do occasionally miss an articulation or two, but from the products that I've gotten from the developers, this is by far the most I've been satisfied with.

Amazing sounding library, tons of articulations, including more special ones, great for ambient stuff, blends nicely with more traditional or even rock instrumentations. All in all a great purchase!

This sample library is on another level, these Instruments where recorded with clip on mics!!! that there changed the whole game of string sampling.if programming is your craft, this you need.
