Possibly too good…..,pagan and very scary….it took me a long time to open the box and take the journey, suffice to say I now have a Druid order, fortune teller and a mediaeval faith healer camped in my garden and Spitfire tech help are unable to offer any support.
After a long time, something that still resembles Albion, but at the same time, so new.
Very eclectic set of sounds including some very unusal folk/noir ennsembles. This one will be a main stay for my composing for some time. Also mixes very easily alongside other Spitfire libraries with great mic controls

Finally, a library that isn’t doubling up on any of my others!
There are some companies that offer orchestral sample libraries with their own UI, but the Spitfire Audio Albion libraries are not just the usual phrase kits. You get an instrument that allows you to express your own ideas in orchestral timbres. They give you the freedom to sound the way you want. From authentic to abstract-epic, everything is possible. In addition, Solstice is also very versatile. I think it's very realistic to write an entire album with it without making it sound monotonous or repetitive. I also really appreciate the approach on how they make the very eclectic sound set accessible to you. It's very intuitive and hands-on. I presume a lot of thought has gone into this aspect of Albion Solstice alone. It's worth every penny.
There is so much to explore with Solstice, but it's a wonderful sound adventure.
As I think the opinions of sample libraries can really vary in terms of personal preference or what fits the project at the time, this sample library has some absolutely stunning and gorgeous sounding instrument samples which will likely fit many scoring projects. The articulations are also well catered for here and it'll definitely take me a while to fully explore this sample treasure here. I would certainly recommend this product to others and it totally caters for what I need, how does this stack up with other Albions in the series? this will depend on what you're looking for and there certainly seems to be an emphasis on quality and detail here.
Truly amazing! I have a few of SA products in my studio, and yet was blown away. The amount of sounds, the quality, the user experience, the practicality and flexibility. It's so obvious that a lot of thought was put into this. I'm a returning user for these reasons, and my fantasy is to have all your brilliant products at my disposal.
An other great library, what more can I say.
It’s hard to review this library because it’s great but it’s a big hard to pinpoint what it tries to be The strings are really great and the close mics are fantastic. The woodwind and brass are great although a bit lacking (but that’s not why you buy such a library) and the flutes are perfect. Lastly the motors are really nice, albeit not easy to use. However I’m a bit disappointed so much effort was spent on drone machines and so little on actual folk instruments (other than violin and flutes). To me, the Blaggards’ instruments should’ve been the stand out feature but are only available blended together. I really hope we’ll have individual articulations of the 6 instruments of that patch (even at an added cost). Also, sadly, the hurdy gurdy is limited to drones, which was very disappointing I would’ve much prefer Spitfire to ditch the guitar and some drone sounds for more folk (since it is the theme of the library). It’s hard to rate this library, cause everything is well made... however, the gap between what was advertised and what we actually get is a bit frustrating. It really looks like spitfire lost focus midway through and through some arbitrary features.... that are great... but feel like they take the place of more folk instruments or articulation. For these reasons I think it’s worth 3.5 but I’ll round it up to 4 because it’s really done with care.
The depth of this library is fantastic. It’s already proving more than useful in my workflow and provides a bottomless pit of inspiration. Love it.
This library breaks completely new ground and is totally inspiring from the first patch to the last. The fidelity of the recording is amazing and the blend of instruments is unique. Most of all there are so many ways to adapt the sounds to your own taste (mic mixes, articulations and evos) that no matter what type of music you create you will find something in this library which will add interest and colour. It is a joy to play and worth every penny. And don't forget, Spitfire support the artists that make the samples through royalties on each sale so you can do some good and get something brilliant into the bargain! Highly recommended!
