Just when you think it can't get any better. . . it does! Not just the quality orchestras and instruments Spitfire has created, but the streamline and efficient way they deliver them to you. Be it by post or download, I've never been disappointed yet! I'm really looking forward to creating something new with BBC SO Core!! Thanks Paul, Christian and the staff.

Nice product, good sound. Quite a lot of articulations across the orchestra. Would be nice to have possibly a solo violin, viola and cello but other than that I like it a lot.

BBC Core is a wonderful tool. Versatile and full of possibilities, it really is the best tool to write for orchestras. The dynamics of each instrument are quite interesting and easy to manipulate. I recommend it for sure.

Excellent product! I'm amazed at how easy it is to get the sound I'm trying for, and it sounds better than products I paid more for. If you are writing orchestral music, you gotta try it!

I recommend this to anyone getting into orchestration and orchestral midi programming. Has so many articulations and has most instruments you would need. Get it on sale for around 250$ and it packs so much bang for your buck. If you're feeling adventurous grab the Pro version as well, but we aware you would need around 650GB of space and a good computer. The Core does very well for everyone and works as the best beginner orchestra I've ever seen.

Marvellous. Such a great sound stage.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great sounds for the most part. Brass slightly hit and miss. Strings and woodwind sit really nicely together. Interface I like for its simplicity but range of control it offers. RAM usage can present some complexity and lengthy waits but with time I've found best practices to manage this. Overall would recommend. The orchestral layout is a good experience for composition and encourages an intuitive approach that can result in authentic arrangement. Core feels enough but I could see upgrading to pro once I'm 100% confident I can get where I need to with core.

I downloaded this product in the knowledge that its compatibility with 'Dorico v3.5' might be problematic, but I did not allow this to put me off, as I have considerably more than a decade of experience in resolving such problems. Compatibilty with Dorico did prove to be poor, so I had to look for other solutions. However, I did still have available and on-board, 'Notion 6' which I had only quit when it seemed to turn its back on 'Windows 7' due to my decade old, but high spec computer. Now, 'Notion' in the past had displayed compatibility issues with many different items of software, but gave no signs of hesitation when I checked 'Core' for suitability. I had almost decided to use 'Note Performer' as an 'intermediate', when I decided to dive in at the deep end and build, from scratch within 'Notion', the orchestra I wanted( using 'Core' directly), (required for writing cinematic sound, as 'audible wallpaper' for a Natural History venture I have been working on for a decade. 'The best 'Dorico' setup I had been able to load, had taken five minutes or more (some of my percussion is 'VS:L via Kontakt, as working that way I can obtain extended performance by putting all percussion onto conventional staves, which gives easy access to many key-switch options just by pre-mapping 'pitch'). There were, clearly compatibility issues. 'Notion' on the other hand, took about ten seconds to load 'Core', the slowest being the percussion, although my setup is pretty basic. Now, 'Notion' might seem a bit down-market for some who use the 'Notation' approach but I have previously set up the final movement of the Sibelius 2nd Symphony and the 'Letter Scene' from Tchaikovsky's 'Eugen Onegin' with it and it works well. The original 'Notion' samples ex the London Symphony Orchestra are superb, but the BBC S.O. has more articulations, and 'balls' in the Brass and Percussion, when called for. The segment of video, seven minutes of 'Winter' in the 'Wetlands' where I operate, which this will accompany is in an advanced stage and close to the visual 'lock' stage, and I am already sketching out some short passages of music which will be mixed, finally with field-recorded sound etc, all 'on-track' currently. Music for bird-life in its many facets is not suited to the 'crash-and-bash' approach (think 'Game of Thrones', or 'Lord of the Rings') played in from a keyboard, I am thinking, more, 'Inspector Morse' (with woodwinds esp.), and I cannot see how this setup of mine will not 'deliver'. Thanks for the opportunity to share my views.
