Great quality sampled piano with lots of microphone placements to choose from for different types of compositions. Would like explanations of all of the different microphone positions just for reference, but definitely not a deal breaker. This is a great product to have in the tool box.
For me this library is very welcome as it closes two gaps: It blends great with the Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra. And it stands on its own as a single piano. I really like the sound variations one gets with all the different Mics and Mixes. It feels very playable with fast runs and realistic sounding long notes. The volume seems pretty even over the whole range. The instrument is a bit on the quiet side though which would be my only quibble. All in all I like this piano a lot.
It is versatile with the various microphone options, allowing the user to adapt to different genres, not just the orchestral environment.
Superbly done and with the piano in the concerto position (lid up, just left of where the conductor stands) which fits beautifully with the rest of the BBCSO orchestra. Sweet, tender and clear low end on the bass range and very bright on the high octaves (I needed a squeeze of EQ to tame them a little) nice round robins and good keybed is essential.
Blends well with the BBC Symphony Orchestra (in comparison with the Spitfire Orchestral Piano, which I also have) and works beautifully as a solo instrument as well.
This piano has its own soul. I love the reverbs and the different microphone positions. Great sound and dynamics. Simply the best sampled Steinway I've had the chance to hear so far. When I play the piano, I always smile.

Sounds amazing. Would probably benefit from a few more dynamic levels to accomodate for classical players but overall great!
This really feels like an alpha release. In the first 30 seconds of playing I recognized that there is a significant difference between the tone quality of the upper and lower registers. And I'm not talking about the natural variances in an acoustic piano. Play a descending scale starting at, say, D6 and listen to the natural ambience in the samples: as soon as you hit G4 there is an abrupt change from quite a lot to very little ambience at all. It's not a gradual change either. It really feels like the upper samples were recorded quite differently. This problem exists in all of the mic position samples, but it's most pronounced in P Mix 2, Tree, Out, and Ambient samples. I've uploaded an audio file demonstrating this. It plays the same descending scale at a constant velocity of 100. I've included every single mix/mic position in the same order as they appear in the plugin (i.e. P Mix 1 through AtmosR). No normalization or any other DAW-induced effects. This is 100% the plugin. This issue exists even with all effects turned off and pedal and hammer volumes at 0 and with no damper pedal pressed. Since it is MIDI playback the velocity curve on my controller keyboard is irrelevant. Is this a known issue that will be fixed? Also, I also notice some pretty striking inconsistencies in volume vis-a-vis velocity. For example, D6 is to my ears much louder than D5 at the same MIDI velocity (100)—this happens across all the round robins. I understand that this is a fairly common problem with first releases of libraries.
Bought to accompany BBC Symphony Orchestra and it works seamlessly with the dedicated plug-in. Initial thoughts :- sounds pretty good and a step up from the Originals Piano I was using
The sound of the piano is deep and is particularly warm, a bit difficult to manage. I hope that a version with the half pedal will also arrive soon

The Symphony Orchestra Piano Pro has been a wonderful addition to my library so far. It's beautiful sound and dynamics are something that is usually hard to capture within a plugin, however, this plugin managed to do so. I would highly recommend this library for those needing a solid grand piano sound.
I've been a user of the BBC Symphony Orchestra for about 3 or 4 years now. It's a great library and offers great value allowing you to start with a free version and work your way up to the Pro version. The much discussed and anticipated piano for the BBC library is finally here and it is worth the wait. It sounds beautiful and the Pro version allows for a wide range of applications using the microphone positions to change the sonic character.
