The critically acclaimed British Drama Toolkit provides an instinctive yet intense connection to the heart of your composition. Created in collaboration with composer Samuel Sim, it features an ensemble dedicated to the emotionally potent sound he is lauded for — but also presents a unique way of interacting with the players, which sets this instrument apart from anything we have created to date. For anyone looking to embrace an alternative approach to scoring, this NKS library toolkit gives you full creative freedom without the barrier of technology — allowing you to simply respond to the scene in front of you. We can’t write your music for you, but we can help you find your voice.

Delicate and powerful. Quiet and intense. This is one of the most useful and yet unique libraries I've come across. For it's limited number of instruments and articulations, there's a HUGE amount of flexibility for dramatic underscore and moving passages. It's wonderful in conjunction with the sounds in Tundra and Swarm, among others. I was on the fence on this one for a while, but after installing it and playing a single chord I was blown away.

I’m not certain whether the primary purpose of this library is as a sketching or a layering tool, but it doesn’t matter: it’s great at both. It’s been recorded dry, so the sound is whispey and intimate, but the wind instruments add an element of warmth. As some have noted, it does lack legato transitions, but if you keep in mind that the place for this - if any - in a final mix is as texture, you’ll be fine. I just used it throughout a score for a documentary and it complimented the Olafur Arnalds Spitfire libraries particularly well. If you know what to expect from this eminently playable library, I guarantee you’ll be pleased with it; I certainly was.

I love the way this works - no keyswitches or faffing around. You just change how you play and it works! After a while you get quite good at judging the volume ranges you play in, so adding a solo theme comes easily with other fingers holding chords. Very different way of working to me, used to keyswitches, but they make three hands required to do what the British Drama Toolkit can do with just one sometimes! Love it.

No short articulations .. I should know it after lecture of reviews, but...it's done. I've bought it. quite useless for me.Velocity dynamics hard to learn ... no, Wheel Mod dynamics.

I am a rank amateur music composer. Never had a lesson, don't study theory or anything. Basically a music 'nobody'. I am fine with that. I just love music and discovering what is 'around the next corner'. What I LOVE about British Drama Toolkit is simple. It gives me access to a 'Human' feel with more than a few solo instruments. It took a little time to understand and adapt to HOW the instrument set works. To be honest, I was initially using a generic plastic run of the mill midi controller and it was TERRIBLE to use with this library. However, I was able to recognize the 'issue' and I invested in a touch sensitive, fully weighted alternative controller and it made ALL the difference. The interface, and just taking the time to understand the workings of the library were a slightly steep learning curve. Once I figured it out, British Drama Toolkit is one of my 'go to' libraries for subtle and interesting solo work. I enjoy working with Spitfire instruments because they are not always 'plug and play like everyone else'. They supply solid libraries that allow you to find your own voice in a crazy, commercial world. I don't ever plan on being 'famous', I just enjoy exploring sound and music. Nothing wrong with that at all.

BEAUTIFUL! Easy to work with & sounds amazing!

Excellent set of sounds! What made me drawn to this toolkit was the fact that it sounds so good when it's dry! I find that a lot of orchestral Kontact instruments (even the very hi-end ones!) tend to sound like very basic synthesised sample kits when played in a minimal, dry, small environment... but the British Drama Toolkit does this perfectly! The strings feel close and personal and, most importantly, REAL!!! There are dozens and dozens of large-room orchestral Kontact instruments on the market, so finding this toolkit was a real gem! I would love to see Spitfire follow this concept again in the future, especially if concentrates on some sharp and gritty dry staccato sounds with millions of round robin variations! Too much to ask? One can only hope! In the meantime, very good work. This is an excellent miriad of sounds and textures. Thanks!

A versatile, inspirational and useable addition to my sonic armoury.

I like the idea to use velocity as a trigger which provides an interesting and different approach. I think it fits very well with Albion Tundra and Olafur Arnalds Evolutions.
