I do like the personality of this library. It’s kind of like a trimmed down Albion in a way. I do wish we had the capability of mixing the levels of the elements individually however. That would make this much more versatile & less recognizable when composing. The quality of the sounds are top notch.
Take your creativity in another dimension!!!
Fantastic mix of inspirational sounds. Layering is an interesting idea, although sometimes it's difficult to play the right layer (but this can be fixed in the midi editor later).
Great selection of options for some quick inspiration. Looking forward to using this on an upcoming film. Would have appreciated a little more variety on strings, but thats not totally what this library is about. Useful GUI with great amount of round robins makes the guitar samples especially sound authentic. Great job Mr Simm & Team.
The CDT was as described; a "broadcast-ready sound set, expertly curated". Navigating through the sounds was easy and the interface in Kontakt was good. I would hope this library will one day have its own stand alone interface.
Contemporary Drama Toolkit is an amazing library, really every setting makes your music sound like a movie. I'm very happy with this purchase, I hope soon to complement my libraries with other sounds that I need. Thank you very much Spitfire Audio
Similar as BDT, CDT makes my workflow a lot faster. I like the variety of content, presets, articulations. I've heard people commenting the negative side of these kind of products, being prone to sound like a lot of other composers using the same tool, but I've found enough content included to forget about those worries. Frequently I've found myself tweaking the velocities in unusual ways and get rewarded with surprising inspirational sounds and textures.
Giving great depth to production I am working on at moment. Beautifull / usefull rich textures.....
Coming from a more than slightly schizophrenic musical background ( I studied the japanese shakuhachi, as well as many other ethnic instruments, but also love rock, big bombastic arrangements ) ...I find it hard sometimes to find sounds that don´t instantly evoke a certain musical context. Besides being so very beautiful, many of Spitfire´s processed sounds, such as in EDNA or The Contemporary Drama Toolkit are so great because they don´t instantly nail you to a sonic culture. The Drama Toolkit is obviously smashing and marvellous in that it facillitates fast composition, but I find it particularly usefull because the sonic material opens up horizons without immediately confining you to an established style.
I haven't actually done a piece with it but the You Tube videos were cool
Excellent library not only for inspiration (as some mentioned), but also for extensive range of pieces from electronic to hybrid orchestral. I love this kit. As always - it works well with other Spitfire libraries and not only. I tried to use 8 CDT instances and some other libs for rhythm and it sounds very great for me (Arthur Neeman on Soundcloud).
one of the best options for instant cinematic composition with two hands on the keyboard . . . inspiring
Phenomenal
Waiting for my SSD
Really inspiring sounds that can really elevate a score. I definitely recommend if you write for a lot of dramas, thriller or well anything to be honest - it's a great library to own!
It's really helpful and it saves time when scoring a tv show, a short film or even a feature film, obvisouly depending on the genre. I own the British Drama Toolkit as well and it's a very good to addition to that collection. Also, it goes well with other libraries.
Great addition to my library!
Absolutely brilliant instrument. There are so many uses for this kit, I was inspired straight away! Purchasing and installation was really easy (via the Spitfire app). Thanks again Spitfire team
Nice patches to be discovered. While British Drama Toolkit was more for family and psychological drama, the contemporary drama is, I believe, more for a younger audience having modern problems with the social media, the political tendency, the global warming. But when you are into this kind of soundtrack, OMG how efficient this library can be. I DAW we trust.
