Product details

Brand: Spitfire Audio

Contemporary Drama Toolkit is a broadcast-ready sound set, expertly curated and produced by award-winning composer Samuel Sim and our team of composers, to help you score to picture without the theory — without compromising on emotion. Across 72 individual instrument patches and 44 combinations, expression is baked into each sound, leaving you to focus on your music instead of software menus. Much like the massively successful British Drama Toolkit, CDT’s sound palette is thoughtfully curated. Originating in a masterful blending of its source material — mellow, chorus tones of a Juno 6, iconic MS–20 textures, vocalisations, and inspiring lead lines performed on guitar, electric cello, and electric violin — all processed via an enviable collection of analog effects, vintage pedals, and Eurorack modules. Everything from whispered textures and bold melodies blossom from the simplest variance in playing, unlocking a world of sound in every patch.

You hear people recommend it, hear it in samples, ask yourself if it's high enough quality. Then you realize Spitfire is the definition of quality. The passion for these projects, and the work can really be heard. Unless i need to, i'm not modeling instruments again, i'm looking to spitfire audio first!

Wonderful concept, helps me focus on the music making aspect and forget all about curating the sounds. It even sits in my mix like magic. The maximum I have to do ever would be panning it left or right. The memory consumption is also so modest making it possible to add multiple instances while my computer still sings and not crib! Making music with CDT is like making love, the outcome is a fresh new life every time!

There are very fine sounds in this library. You should get this one if you want to make something different, something with an extra edge of an electronic focus. There are truly lots of unique sounds like various synth pads, electric guitars and even electric cello and violin! You can combine this library with other Spitfire classical libraries, I especially enjoyed this one in combination with the British Drama Toolkit.

This is one of the best "bang for your buck" kits out there! My favorite about this is the Guitars, perfect for creating those "Friday Night Lights" type soundtracks! This paired with Albion One is just massive! Also great to use in EDM!

Great additional product for collections, it is.

Amazing Library. A little more control over the parameters of each sound would have been 5 stars. Does what it says on the tin. Great sounds straight away to get you into the creative headspace with minimal effort. The sounds are so well produced that they actually require less mixing from my experience of it so far. Which is always a bonus! Small issue, and admittedly this could be redundant as they did advertise this library as curated, but a little more control of the parameters would have made this library an incredible deal for the money you're paying. You do get all the normal options; attack, decay, sustain, release, but for some of the presets the changes goes almost unnoticed. Meaning that this library has a sort of tonal shelf life where you may just be done with it after a couple months. Or looking at that more positively, only able to use it for certain moments in certain pieces of music. ALSO and this isn't a criticism of Spitfire this is just general advice for anyone using low budget midi keyboards: This library is hinged almost entirely around dynamics. Meaning that if you've not got very sensitive keys, you may on first play feel like the library does nothing or the sounds seem to jump radically in tone due to your keyboard. Definitely easy to work around but if you're someone who isn't big into playing with real time dynamics, or are not prepared to learn how the dynamics of a plugin work with your keyboard, could be worth considering another library! Overall, I've followed Spitfire for a good while now and this is the first plugin I've bought from them (only really used labs from them so far which is also amazing considering its FREE) and I really am enjoying it. It's fantastic when used in conjunction with other VSTs, and for £169 you get a small library but packed with a lot of quality. Just wish I could tweak the sounds a little more!

Contemporary Drama Toolkit plays well with others and functions as a tasty complement to my other plug-ins. Always easy to find something fresh & interesting.

Nice pads and possibilities to tweak.

Excellent springboard for scoring! The sounds are curated very, very well and are wonderfully playable. Even if you fear of sounding too much like anyone else using CTD, it's still brilliant when it comes to get the ideas flowing or to create the mood you want to convey straight away before you forget your idea. One of the best purchases yet, well done!

My first order from Spitfire and pretty much disappointed. Way to expensive for what you get. CDT is overpriced, a few samples are promising but many of them aren't. Finally wasted my money.

Only a novice but just watch demos to see what people can produce using.

Amazing collection of atmospheric sounds that can be used for lots of different applications. As soon as you play the first note you will fall in love.

Excellent as always - fantastic sounds and dynamics. The only criticism is the partnership with Kontact is problematic. The interface is always so small and does not fit in with how 'user friendly' Spitfire audio aesthetic otherwise is.

Full of great instruments. Like all the best libraries, it's not just full of sounds that you'll use, but also sounds that will inspire the way you write.

So much to discover. Unending fun and great sounds.
