This is a fantastic product. A very deeply sampled set of instruments, particularly the Violin and Cello. My only issue is that there is a huge performance hit using the full ‘Total Performance’ instruments. They are probably best reserved for solo music as they run just fine by themselves -BUT trying to use them in combination (eg. A Quartet) made my DAW crawl to a halt (and I’m using a very powerful and new MacBookPro). My sequencer (Logic) became utterly unresponsive. For my quartet work, I’m having to use the Economy Patches - and where the detail is needed I can freeze tracks which use the more memory hungry instruments. Still - these strings are really good, very convincing when using automation.

AWESOME STRINGS

I mean, they sound great. Especially they sound great with a bigger orchestra and that's exactly what I needed. Helps a lot with definition in the low end and the harmonics articulations is something I'm a big fan of in general.

I love it. I mapped the expression, dynamics, and vibrato to my faders on my midi controller. With the vibrato under control that way, I can create a pretty realistic sound. With that said, I recorded a cello track for a friend and he could not tell it was a sample instrument.

Should have been drier in my opinion.

Paired with a large ensemble, or used for an intimate string quartet, this pack gives vibrancy and realism to every piece I produce. The extended techniques are a life saver, and their smart legato brings a lever of realism I have never experienced from a software instrument.

A beautiful library, clearly expertly created. It's a step up for me to score for single instruments, but I am relishing the learning, and the results are already next level. This one has been game changing for me.

UNBELIVABLE!!! So expressive, deep, beautiful and inspiring.

I love this. I took harmony I and harmony II from Thinkspace which teaches you the way to make a string quartet. Its amazing how much better this sounds than on the little Finale thing we used in class. I am getting better at this now!

Beautifully crafted easy to use strings plug-in. Really happy to have finally purchased them after wanting them for some time. I am not disappointed.

A great-sounding library with a lot of articulations to explore and use. Great for solo melodies and also when adding details to bigger ensembles.

As a jazz musician of over 40 years experience I am extremely critical of the quality of tone, timbre and amount of 'air' that a virtual instrument can produce. I have been recently commissioned to write for a series of string quartets and wanted to organically develop my ideas with sounds that were as 'human' as possible during the writing process. I have been amazed at how warm and expressive the instruments in the Solo Strings set are. They all have an extraordinary breadth of character that make them a joy to work with. I don't have any sophisticated equipment - I'm running an antiquated PC with Windows 7 (brought back to life with a couple of carefully positioned SSD's...) and Pro Tools 12. Despite my ageing equipment the instruments in the quartet have all performed wonderfully. The Spitfire team seem to be incredibly supportive of creative musicians and the LABs series along the Piano Book project are also really very generous offerings - they gave me an easily accessed way into the world of virtual and sampled instruments with which to develop my writing. Many thanks, Colin Hopkins Pianist/Composer
