Requires some knowledge of the instruments included. I find it very versatile as accompaniment, as a chamber section and as an addendum to the overall orchestral palette.

Beautiful sound and fits right in with the other libraries from Spitfire Audio. They blend very well with other libraries from other companies as well.

Solo Strings was a much-needed missing piece in my library and it did not disappoint.

Great sounding product and very organic. Just wish the Cello had a Virtuoso player also.

A good library that can generate a lot of emotion. I like the violins and cellos best.

From preliminary tests (on Komplete Kontrol standalone), the library is great. Dynamics are highly responsive and natural (I can play a fast run on my digital piano without delay and with just the right amount of attack and release without tweaking anything, a feat I can't reproduce on other string libraries). Sounds are dry and very convincing. Even on a non-optimised computer, there seem to be no lag whatsoever, even with fast playing. The Virtuoso soundbank seems to be the most versatile and natural-sounding. All around it is an inspiring and focused library that delivers exactly what it advertises. I fear I may become addicted to the Spitfire experience. (possible) downsides: Vibrato is delicate, at maximum level it still doesn't seem to reach the "espressivo" of full Romanticism. Round-Robin seems to be a bit lacking, especially in the Cello / Doublebass samples - during a Legato test I could feel a "bow tick" when passing on a specific key and the tick was always audible. I may be mistaken though. It shouldn't be a problem though.

The library has something more than quality. It is a tool which promotes my inspiration

The original solo strings collection was my initial introduction to Spitfire. Until this, it was my most used library. This is the next level of what was already an amazing product!

A new level, very realistic, a very good choice for composers who write for string quartet like me. Perfect for my demo. Thanks Spitfire. We wish more acoustic solo instruments like that.

This is an awesome library, so much flexibility and it sounds great. The interface does feel a bit dated and not particularly user friendly. But its functional, so not taking a star off.

Library sounds fantastic and is easier to use than others I've tried.

This library sounds amazing. I have been using the Chamber Strings for some time, but I love the intimacy this library provides. Their are plenty of articulations to get the sound you want within all the instruments. My only complaint is that I wish there were more legato articulations, like the chamber strings. I would love to have more variety when doing legato passages. Overall, this library a must have in my opinion and adds character when played in unison with the chamber strings.

Spitfire Solo strings are just as great as the big brother, Spitfire Symphonic strings. The excellent UACC and simplistic UI, the lush sound, the realistic legato with portamento and unique techniques all make the solo instruments worthwhile. The stock setting of the patches' vibrato is a bit much, but thankfully a lower available setting makes it blend easier with the symphonic strings and creates a new dimension of sound that adds warmth to the symphonic strings. Violin Virtuoso is a bit too gaudy, but the 1st desk and progressive violins make excellent concertmaster and second violin 1st desk patches to use in larger compositions. Violin Virtuoso can be tamed, but it takes more configuring in the simple Spitfire UI to make it less gaudy and over the top than the 1st desk and progressive ever were. I would, though, like to see the progressive violin preset and the double bass to get legato patches in the near future as it would greatly make a string quintet more possible to pull off with just the solo strings.

I was on the fence about Solo Strings before I purchased - I have the first chair samples from LA Scoring Strings, which are excellent, and I didn't know whether I REALLY needed Spitfire's solo set. I was tempted into taking the plunge by an excellent discount offer (which Spitfire offer quite regularly to established customers) - I'm so glad I did. The library is stunning - it immediately inspired me to write, which is the highest praise any virtual instrument can aim for.

Amazing library! Especially Virtuoso violin performance! If someday you make similar patch for cello, it would be total mind-blowing! ) Thank you, Spitfire Team! You are #1 in orchestral sampling!

Wow! The solo strings are great, and I'm very happy with them. But then I tried the Violin Total Performance patch, and I was really blown away! This is the best virtual solo violin I've ever heard, and it's a joy to play.

Really happy with this library! I have other libraries with solo strings but none of them has so many articulations and such a great sound. I just would like to have the virtuoso total performance patch in the Cello and Viola!
