Spitfire Solo Strings are simply amazing! The capture of the samples sound so lush and full, it is sometimes very hard to believe that these are samples.

Nice library, lots of articulation options, interface is user-friendly and the performance patches are gorgeous. Would like to see full articulation dynamit performances for cello too.

Solo String is an excellent library for people looking for that great solo sound. It is a very well done library in both quality, and easy to use layout.

Okay, I expected this to be good, having seen the video on the performance legato, but I didn't realise just HOW good. I sincerely hope that Spitfire will create performance legatos for the viola and cello too. Easily a 10/10.

Pairs very nicely with the Chamber Strings library.

Based on a purely superficial look, I'm confident this library will do the job under battle conditions with some devious expression and modulation programming.

I was a little hesitant at first one these, I own almost every solo string library there is and am usually disappointed. I started to think that maybe its just not possible to have a playable sample library that nails it. Spitfire Solo Strings is unbelievable, both in playability, the sonics, the space, and the emotional expression. I have no reason to use any other solo string library again. I'm using my ipad with Touch Daw and set up an XY controller pad where I can simultaneously control dynamics on one axis and vibrato on the other, and its just stunning how connected I feel to the sounds that are coming out of the speakers. I've been writing for strings for 20 years, and have been lucky to work with live human players, but this product is just at another level. So happy with the purchase.

Beautiful - can't wait to dig deeper and make more music.

V pleased with this purchase. Although the download took over 12 hours due to my poor internet connection it all went without a hitch and everything installed smoothly. I am currently working through my back catalogue and adding new life to old tracks with these solo strings.

I have long dreamed of solo strings and am very glad that I pressed the "buy" button 10 minutes before the beginning of the New Year (in my other hand I held a glass of wine). These strings as well as Spitfire Studio Strings have a very detailed and inspiring sound. They go well with all my strings libraries in the mix.

I really like the tone and the range of articulations. It's not 'out of the box' though, if that's what people are looking for. I hadn't understood what some reviewers had referred to in terms of needing to learn how to use the legatos, but now I do. That isn't a criticism - if feels like the flexibility that comes with this instrument really takes some time to learn, but then, "I expected to pick up this musical instrument and play it immediately like a professional" said no reasonable person! So, if anything, this adds to the realism, and I'm enjoying learning. 1 star removed because I do think there are some jumps in velocity and tuning issues that need attending to.

Very nice library, especially the Virtuoso Violin. I am hoping to get from Spitfire a "Virtuoso Cello" as a much needed update to this library.

Very nice library. Compare to what I have before, it's another world. Maybe the Double bass is a bit light

Beautiful strings without the hall reverb, allowing you to control the way it sounds/fits into your music. Highly recommend users watch tutorial videos at Spitfire to get the most out of this library.

Intimate and perfectly imperfect making it sound organic. Gone are the days of synthesizy strings.

Dear Spitfire, I gave a 4 star because I think the products are excellent. Though as with all other libraries, non are perfect. I recently purchased the Solo Strings, and from the demos, I gathered it would be good for a particular composition...but it fell short. However, it could have very well been that it was just not intended to do what I needed it to do, OR I just need to have more time with the library. I have Chamber Strings, Albion one and Solo Strings, and my next purchase will be the new Studio Brass...so I am not discouraged from buying into SF, but I do have a suggestion for the walkthroughs. My suggestion is to make it clear what the library CAN do, and what the library CAN'T do. The Andy Blaney demo was nice, but he is also playing to the strengths of the library. While I know the demo is supposed to show off the library's capabilities, it would also be nice to show the limitations as well. Now this can easily be solved by providing a timed demo, with limited articulations. So form of trying before you buy, since the libraries are not cheap...yet not at the very top of the market either, but still out of reach for some who agonize over making sure that they spend their money wisely, without regrets afterwards. Would I continue to recommend SF...YES.

The definitive solo strings library in my eyes. Not only does this contain all the articulation types we have come to expect from Spitfire Audio (Flautando, Sul Pont etc.) it also contains the fantastic new Progressive Vibrato Sustain patches, which are the most organic feeling string sustains I have ever used. To top it all off the new Performance Legato patch on the violin is a complete game changer in one-patch-playability. There are some minor flaws, a couple of notes don't loop for continuous sustain on the violin whispers patch and theres some dead notes on a couple of the short articulation patches, but these don't detract from the heights this library achieves.
