While Spitfire solo cello is great, as other reviews say, Spitfire Solo Violin has lots of problems. The re-bows are reallly jarring (way more jarring than you think they will be - and conveniently hidden in most of the demos). Buy the solo cello, but avoid the violin.
Very disappointing ... changes of bow peculiarly abrupt! can't understand how or why. I have never experienced such when working with real performers. I wasted my money, which is a great shame as I have been satisfied with all the other products I purchased from them (solo cello has something similar but not as disruptive). I hope they will rectify this and release a free update.
Solo Violin has way too many bow changes in a single sustained note! It bow changes every 1-2 seconds, making it really difficult for me to compose what I want. Plus, these bow changes are very very obvious, like a sudden break in between which I really dislike. And there's no way to turn it off !!! I just think that Spitfire should allow free trials so we know exactly what we're getting, especially when they don't allow refunds... I'm a student so purchasing this was a big decision (to my wallet), which ended up not being worth it.
As experienced before with solo cello, the solo violin is an excellent tool for every kind of music. Yes is limited to the space where was recorded, the way was recorded, the instrument and bow used and player but for a VST instrument is outstanding. Few more types of articulations regarding long notes and legatos, few more real played type of vibratos would be perfect.

Awesome product! For less than $100 (especially since I got it on sale), you get what is, to my ears, the most realistic-sounding solo violin sample library I've heard. It has sharp shorts, a decent tremolo, and the real star of the show - the legato. The legato sounds fantastic and includes both portamento and basic legato transitions. And I gotta say, the lack of keyswitches is awesome (they're a pain for me). Incredible product on its own, but especially at this price point, there's nothing to complain about.
Hard to get the touch just right for the various articulations. Very Noisy on the high notes. Polyphonic Legato 4x is a touch nightmare, as is Portamento. Having to use Kontact is very annoying. Too Much Reverb decay time

Spitfire Solo Violin is superb in quality and quick integration with Kontakt. The several articulations and controls allow the user to achieve a professional and realistic sound thanks to Spitfire's high tech and the quality of the violinist who played the samples. It is a great product at a very accessible price.
very good price offer, good to play
I recently purchased the Solo violin library and it is an excellent product. It is without doubt the most intuitive library of any type I have ever used. The lack of key switching makes it easy to achieve realistic results with no effort at all. Used with a controller for expression, vibrato and dynamics it is definitely the best solo violin library I’ve heard. I purchased during a half price promotion but I would easily have paid full price for it if I realised how good it was. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
The sounds are very impressive for the price. The only problem was with the bow changing direction on the longer notes in unwanted places. Other reviewers had the same issue but it didn't sound like it would be that much of a problem, but certain times it would unusable. Without this glitch, it would have been 5 stars easy. This really needs to be fixed.

Very, very natural and functional. I play on it as I would like to play on real violine (I am a piano player :) ) It would be great if you create similar product specialy for soft violine (similar to frozen strings)
