Sound is very decent. Performance patch have really good script that adjust instrument articulations to your playing. Portamento and changing vibrato while playing legato is done superbly and contributes realism of violin playing. There is some things that I miss in sound character, though. I would like to hear sound that is more present where you can hear more expressiveness of violin player. Maybe even more gypsy style of playing where every note isn't always in tune. Also, biggest oversight that library miss pizzicato articulation. I need that badly!

I've just purchased Spitfire Solo Violin and it sounds awesome. In combination with other libraries, the solo Violin gives a true emotional feeling that improve the realistic-quality of today's VST. Worth It !
This is a great instrument. Take the time to play with the settings and learn how to play it and it will reward you greatly. So easy to improvise with.
Amazing violin VST, definitely worth its price The only thing it lacks is the possibility to influence the length of the legato.
It is excellent sound, but I am disappointed that it does not have pizzicato, and more similar articulations. What is there is very good.
Fantastic live sound! Best violin VST so far.
Best solo violin VST out there, hands down.
Great for solos!
Unreal, a great piece of toll to my new productions ;-)
I purchased this along with Solo Cello because it was heavily discounted to the point that I could take a punt. To be honest my experience of these kinds of virtual instruments in the past had been poor, either because the sound was fundamentally synthetic or the experience of using them felt more like programming and lost the feel of an instrument that could be improvised with for composition. This greatly exceeded my expectations and most importantly I wrote several pieces of music that I would not otherwise have written because I was able to play convincing, musical, expressive violin lines straight out of the box. It looks simpler than other solo instruments I have used but the cleverness is all under the bonnet in how it responds to expression and velocity to give you something you can just play. Good work Spitfire, I think you could do more to highlight and demonstrate this and Solo Cello on your site, they are a steal for the price and the ability to just play them in a really responsive and organic fashion is really inspiring. Which is the thing you always hope for most from any piece of music tech.
Excellent sampling on this instrument, great strikes and legato, and I'm very picky about these aspects of a plugin.
Amazing, just wish I didn’t need Kontact to use it.
Wonderfully expressive solo violin! The clever programming lets you switch between short and legato notes quite seamlessly - and that alone is a great reason to own this library because it makes writing easy, without the need for keyswitches. The sound is incredibly realistic with a wide variety: you can make it sound like a fiddle or even romantic with tons of vibrato. It doesn't come with many articulations, but it's all about the playability and getting a great sound fast and easy.
Haven't tried other similar products yet, so it is hard to make a fair judgment. Very impressive sounds and the performance mode is very beginner friendly. The downside is a lack of customization of articulations (cost of being beginner friendly). Also, if you're already loving the series Solo Strings might be a better option since it comes with multiple string instruments.
A realy good library.
Such a rich variety of dynamics, writing a section it while riding the sliders on my Korg Nanokontrol2 is a breeze, capable of making some really beautiful playing choices.
This is so cool. Great for orchestral pallets but I've also conjured a folk fiddle from it as well
It's so good
Intuitive and easy to use.
If you don't have it, GET IT. Best Solo Violin patch out there by far.
