I am very happy with the treatment and care I received from Mr S Lash and would recommend him to anyone who has eye problems within his specialism.

Very good result with operation but had slight complication post op which was dealt with very well by Mr Lash.... he has said if it causes me a problem again he will do another small op but hopefully that will not be necessary.....very pleased with treatment...

i was very impressed with Stephen Lash; he is very passionate about what he does. During the initial consultation he explained clearly and concisely the procedure he would undertake to repair a macular hole and that he would remove the cataract at the same time; he reassured me there was nothing to be worried about. I was conscious but lightly sedated during the surgery and Mr Lash talked me through what he was doing in plain English, there was minimal discomfort and the procedure seemed to take no time at all . Mr Lash telephoned the next morning to check how I was and to answer any questions. I am delighted that following my final consultation my vision has improved dramatically. Mr Lash has an excellent team supporting him, particular the anaesthetist and his personal secretary, Sarah.

I was prevaricating for several years over a necessary cataract procedure and the possible after effects on my eye which had experienced previous other problems.
Stephen Lash was very patient and considerate in dealing with all my concerns leading up to the operation and thoroughly in command of the swift and professional procedure on the day!
The result was excellent as was the follow up care.

The team at Lash Eye Care are truly professional and caring, they are friendly, approachable and empathetic with a real understanding of the anxiety many patients feel when eye problems occur. I felt safe and cared for during my surgery, I literally had no worries at all, it really was as though I was the most important person in the world at that time and nothing was more important to the team than my well-being.

Stephen Lash is a highly experienced and skilled ophthalmologist. He has performed successful cataract surgery on me which has restored my vision and my independence. He takes great care to explain procedures to ensure that appropriate decisions are made. He also makes sure that patients feel comfortable during surgery. This includes employing highly qualified anaesthetists. Mr Lash also provides thorough check ups which are reassuring.
I did have minor concerns with the administration of appointments for outpatient follow ups. These were resolved very efficiently.

I am really happy with the outcome of my vitrectomy surgery with Mr Steve Lash. I would recommed him to anyone needing eyecare. Steve has a passion for what he does and is caring and kind - he was my first choice of surgeon. Happily I am now back on my motobike and enjoying the summer.

My experience under Mr Stephen Lash and his excellent staff, from start to finish, exceeded my hopes and expectations.
Very professional yet warm and friendly at all times, Mr Lash during both cataract removal operations, gave me a running commentary on exactly what he was doing, in language I could clearly understand.

have had the pleasure of working with Mr Stephen Lash for several years as the academic coordinator at Southampton Eye Unit. I can say with certainty that Mr Lash is an asset to the department as both a colleague and educator. Mr Lash is an educational supervisor for the junior ophthalmolgists within the department, as well as conducting clinic, seminar, and lecture based teaching for the undergraduate medical students who visit the department four times a year. The feedback we have received from both postgraduate and undergraduate students is entirely unrivalled, with numerous students citing Mr Lash as being one of the most engaging and insightful teachers they have encountered during their time at University Hospital Southampton.

Mr Lash has proven to be a capable and efficient mentor in formal teaching sessions as well as informal clinic based teaching. Mr Lash’s infectious enthusiasm, clear empathy, and enigmatic communication style ensure his teaching motivates even the most uninterested students. His lecture on Acute Visual Loss is the most highly rated lecture in the undergraduate teaching program; using a combination of humour and interaction to engage and motivate students in their learning.

Overall it has been a pleasure to work with Mr Lash and I am sure he will continue to inspire countless students in the future as well.

I spent a few days last year being trained by Steve for a postgrad course I was doing. I couldn't rate Steve more highly. Steve has a vast amount of knowledge that he manages to get across in a very easy way to understand.

When I was diagnosed with retinal detachment, I was surprised. However, as an operating theatre manager in ophthalmology I felt reassured that I would be in safe hands, as I had witnessed Mr. Lash operate and knew the level of expertise I would be offered.

After a borderline annual eye test I was referred for cataract surgery. I chose private treatment because the waiting time through the NHS was long enough that any further deterioration of my eyesight would mean I might have to stop driving.

The assessment, advise and recommendation on various options, the operation and follow up, were all that I expected and hoped for. I was attended by Mr Lash at all appointments. I had the operation at NHS Southampton Eye hospital outside normal operating times. As a lifelong supporter of the NHS, having the treatment there had the added advantage the NHS also received payment for resources used.

Mr Lash was very helpful, the first appointment was within a few days of my enquiry and thereafter each appointment was at a time and day to suit me. He explained everything and his website gave further information about the procedure. The operations were carried out at Southampton Eye Care unit and Mr Lash and his staff were efficient and considerate. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr Lash.

Excellent teacher and a dedicated doctor. Mr Lash is someone who is innovative, hardworking and extremely pleasant to work with. He organises Four Seasons Optometry Education which quality surpasses all major and minor optometry education provider. This is because it focuses on eye and patient care, not just the basic stuff.

Very good communications and response to requests. It would be nice to be able to talk to Mr Lash on the phone more easily to answer technical questions.

Always professional, great care taken to explain all procedures. I have always felt in safe hands.
