I consider my self a very hard person to please. I certainly wouldn’t want to work for me! So to give a five star review, and follow it up with this review says a lot. We contacted stovesman, initially by visiting the show room to look at the stock and gather ideas. Andy has just about every type of stove you could think of in his show room, with a number of mock up displays. This made, with his guidance, choosing the stove model, Heath and oak beam we wanted very easy. We also sat down and went through the folders of portfolios Andy had out showing off previous work. The work contained within spoke for its self and we left extremely confident that should we use Stovesman we would receive a great service, and decided to schedule a free of charge home survey. This again was a great experience, Andys knowledge helped us draw up a design we were happy with and that more importantly complimented the house and room. Like any sensible person would I then obtained a further 2 quotes form local companies via the same method. All within the same ball park figure, meaning I could choose using my gut feeling rather than my wallet. Andys portfolios and overall approach swayed me towards stoves man, and this is a decision is do not regret. The install took a week, as we were having a full breast, including recessed tv constructed. For the install we had the perfectionist who is Micheal. This man is hands down the best tradesman I HAVE EVER have work on any of my properties. To find someone who is as fussy and particular as myself is unheard of, but Michael attention to detail, work ethic and the resulting end product we have received is simply perfection. The TV recess is millimetre perfect, every edge is perfectly level, the plaster can only be described as art! On completion of the install Andy turned up for the handover and paper work, and we were left with a fire on the go and detailed instructions for aftercare and ongoing maintenance. 5 stars is well deserved, the overall experience from start to finish has been a pleasure. We couldn’t be more happy with our stove.

Firstly, they did not charge to give a quote - the first company I contacted wanted £80 if we did not go ahead with the works. We weren't even sure we could afford it at the time!

Within 2 months of initially contacting Andrew at Stoves Man LTD we are now basking in the glow of our Stockton 5. We needed the full works after a fire in the 70s left us with a dusty hole in the living room and questionable chimney (topped with plastic flowers courtesy of the previous residents!) Within 2 days the fireplace was enlarged to HETAS standards and I could rearrange the furniture and CLEAN (never underestimate the amount of dust - we were well informed but there is a LOT of the stuff). The following day the stove was installed and we could have small fires. The final day was for chimney re-pointing, which we were informed was a long overdue job - the mortar just kept going in!!

My nearly 3yo daughter was comfortable and at ease with the "stove-ell men" and wanted to show her own Henry Hoover. They were excellent with young children (my daughter is a good judge of character!) and respectful of our daily routines and need to get out of the house.

If you are just thinking about having a stove but aren't yet sure, just do it. We've been wanting one for five years and now it's finally here we don't know why we had that money stuck in the bank doing nothing for so long.

A Tale of Two Halves

We hired Stoves Man LTD to re-point and re-crown three chimneys, to fit seven new chimney cowls, replace broken roof tiles and to do re-pointing repairs all around our 114 year old property.

Good:
Respect for the age of the property.
The chimneys and roofs have been restored to match the original.
Contractors and employees arrived on time, were polite, professional and were very hard working.
Solar Scaffolding were amazingly quick and efficient.
Work finished within the time frame.
The refurbished wood burner stove is lovely. This was added on after the project started and was fitted on a Bank holiday.

Bad:
Crumbling chimneys and birds in the chimneys were the original reason we contacted Stoves Man LTD. We specifically made it clear during the initial job assessment (and also mentioned a few times during the work), that we did not want birds to be able to enter our chimneys. Six days after the project finished, Jackdaws began appearing daily and disappearing inside the chimneys. The fitted cowls are aesthetically pleasing; however, they are not functioning as requested.

Unhappy:
We hired Stoves Man LTD as a chimney expert and trusted their professional expertise to fit the type of cowl to fulfill our request to keep these birds out. The quote stated 1 metal cowl and 6 clay cowls. We have what we now know are six “flow-through” cowls. They are like six little bird houses. When the cowls were actually being fitted, we asked the fitter, if the six cowls were the correct choice for keeping birds out as we felt some uncertainty. We were assured that they were.

Even though we had a fixed price quotation, we paid a considerable amount extra for roof repairs that were required to complete the job. It was clear that the extra work required was missed during the initial job assessment. Us agreeing to pay extra to properly complete the job was done in good faith because it was the right thing to do under the circumstances.

We strongly feel that the cost of replacing the current cowls with those that function as we originally and clearly requested should not be our responsibility. Receiving a quote for this is insulting. We consider the current cowl choice to be a professional error. This and the missed roof work probably could have been avoided had there had been less talking and selling and more listening.

If the cowl situation had not occurred, we would have given Stoves Man LTD a more positive review.

Hard working professionals , did an excellent job , and totally cleared away the rubble , and left the room immaculate .

A first class service from start to finish - thank you!

The job was moving an old fireplace to the centre of the wall, creating a new, larger firebox opening for a wood burner stove, and accordingly moving the chimney breast on the outside of the house. Stoves Man was very efficient, the job was well done in the timeframe anticipated at the start of the job. Would highly recommend them.

Installation and stove is great and would have been a full 5 star rating but experience spoiled by metal plates above the stove which have numerous bright metal screws sticking out which only became apparent when viewed from sitting position after the installers had left. Request to spray black fell on deaf ears, simple solution which seems to be too much trouble and is therefore very disappointing.

A Very good job done and left cleaner than it was before they came.

I had a wood burner fitted by Stoves Man Ltd & his team in April of this year. Within a few months we had to change the fire surround because the original one was not suitable - Stoves Man Ltd priced me up for a new fire surround & it was duly fitted. On lighting the fire for the first time there was a loud crack & it turned out that the back plate of the fire surround had cracked & a small piece of the fire place had come away. I had informed Stoves Man Ltd on several occasions & he came to see it last Monday 15/10 & told me he had been in touch with the manufacturer & a complaint had been raised. The reason I have rated Stoves Man with 1star is his after sales is absolutely non existent as I have no idea when this damaged fire surround is going to be replaced or repaired as on the last occasion I spoke to him he did say he would try & get this replaced on Saturday 20th October well this has date has come & gone so goodness knows when or whether my fire surround will ever be repaired/replaced.I do understand that he is getting busier as the winter draws in but at the moment I am definately NOT a satisfied customer of Stoves Man Ltd. I am very disappointed with Stoves Man Ltd because his work is first class but this has left me with the fact that he just does not care about his customers after his work has been completed & he just does not communicate with me as to how this is going to be rectified to my satisfaction & I have to keep contacting him to find out what is happening. Please note all this is factual & now following on from my first review I have now received a text from Stoves man Ltd informing me that to change the back panel of the fire I will have to pay him £300 for his team to replace the cracked panel & on condition that I remove this review.
I am not prepared to change this review as I have said before this is all factual.

Really pleased , all as promised.

We had our fire place reopened and a wood burning cassette burner installed. Michael, Steve and Andy did a great job and we are extremely happy. The job was finished to a very high standard and would recommend the team to anyone thinking about having an install or upgrade.

Stoves Man Ltd were fantastic and we are so pleased with what they have done! Already have recommended them to two people! Andrew and his team were brilliant!

From the start of selecting the multi fuel stove, the professional and experienced advice given to reassure us that this stove will deliver the heat to our cottage.
The installation . Arrived at 8am, I was amazed that all those involved with the install as planned by Andrew attend as required.
Even with a major issue to power clean 4metres of flue, the team completed the install by 7pm, and left our home clean and with a very small fire burning in the stove, Andrew explained that we must only have small fires for a few weeks as this helps the stove to wear in.

Very efficient and competent. The show room is excellent with many stoves in fire place settings. Help and advice is always on hand but is not done in a pushy way. This is an excellent place to look at and discuss future requirements knowing that the advice is professional and accurate. Once the decision was made the date and time scales were maintained, the construction of the fire was carried out with minimal disruption and care was taken to ensure that the finished product looked fantastic. Role on the winter.!

This is our third installion from Stoves Man Ltd, this latest one being in our newly completed Oak Garden Room.
The Di Lusso R5 that Andrew supplied and fitted looks really lovely.
His team were hoping for an easy job this time as the previous two stoves they have installed in our cottage were far from easy.
However, within minutes of Michael climbing up onto the roof to prepare for the flue opening he encountered his first challenge of the day... a wasp nest! But nothing stops Michael...he proceeded to smoke them out and was then seen strolling across the garden with the nest stuck on the end of a stick!
Challenge number 2...and Michael discovered the builders hadn’t left an opening in the roof timbers as promised for the flue to have easy access through. So, undeterred he set about altering the timbers to suit.
So....instead of an early finish that Saturday, it was 7pm before the job was successfully done and wrapped up.
Three stove and flue installions in one cottage, and not one of them was straight forward...but all three work a treat and all three jobs completed to 110% satisfaction.
Well done Andrew and his team.

Andrew & his team , professional & hard working made sure our installations were possible even though our house created a few hurdles. Looking forward to using our new log burners after summer.
