my grandson’s birthday lunch

It was my grandson’s birthday yesterday and I asked where he would like to go for lunch. He suggested sushi so four of us went to their branch in Edgware.

My daughter and grandsons asked to have the all you can eat meal and I said I just wanted a solo meal as I am getting over an operation and can only eat small amounts.

The waitress said I had to sit at a separate table as she suspected I would help myself to their food.

She pulled out the adjoining table and I sat there. We should have just walked out at that stage. When another waitress came over my grandson complained and she said I could sit with them. I wouldn’t mind but I was the one paying!

I got my separate dish of which I could only manage half.

Food was indifferent and what can I say about the service!

We won’t be going there again.

Discusting

2 small slices of tuna sashimi £9
Ordered seared scallops and they arrived raw with the sashimi
Agadashi Tofu Luke warm at best I was a regular but I threw 30 quids worth of food in the bin .
Restaurant could not care less
Fuming right now it's not cheap
It was the 2 wafer thin slices of tuna for 9 quid that made me rage !
Shame on you Sushimania

Nice experience

We went for a friends birthday and we had the bottomless buffet. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was kind and friendly. This was the North Finchley shop. We will be going back.

Missing whole major item

I made pick up order via Deliveroo worth £131 including a £40 sashimi patter. They sealed the bag and handover the foods to me so I through they’ve checked and ticked all items before handover. Finally they missed the whole patter. A formal complaint’s been made but no response no one calling back to discuss about refunding. They are just SCAM!!!!
Never this again!!!

Manager has severe 'attitude problems' when dealing with customer complaints.

Have visited the Reading branch on several occasions with my wife for the 'half price lunchtime (12:00-15:00) menu', as the food is quite okay for the price.

During the two most recent visits our experiences have 'not been so great':

The first issue we had was during our last visit, about a month ago, when we had a small amount of food left over and asked for a small plastic take away box to put it in. That was given to us, however we later found that a charge of FIVE POUNDS had been added to our bill (oh yes plus their 10% 'discretionary service charge' too) for that. Ok, I know prices of materials have gone up, but this is 'taking the you know what' in my view... So what 'service' did we pay 50p for - picking up a box and giving it to us???

The bigger problem arose during our last visit, on 29th October 2025. We ordered and ate our food as usual, no problem there. Things 'got interesting' when we decided to get some items to take away for our son to eat. At this point we were told that "the half price lunch offer does NOT APPLY TO TAKE-AWAY FOOD". Ok, so we sit at a table in the restaurant/occupy space and staff time with the food being half price, but if we then buy some more to take away that is charged at FULL PRICE...???!!! But you don't pay the '10% service charge' - wow!!! Doesn't say anything about that on the menu. Sorry 'logic does not compute'.
So we moved on from there and ordered two lots of sushi anyway. Learning from our previous 'gold price plastic box experience', we had brought our own box for any leftovers. We put the sushi into that - VERBOTEN' ('FORBIDDEN')!!!! The Manager seemed like he was going to 'go into full mental meltdown mode' at this point. He was going on about how "you cannot do that as the food is too cheap". We had obviously committed a 'major crime', as he had the attitude of 'spoiling for a fight'. We gave the sushi back, presumably for forensic analysis to prove our 'crime' (hopefully not to be re-sold to someone else...hopefully...) One can only assume that this guy had failed the 'mandatory company customer management' training scheme. He definitely 'has severe communication issues' when dealing with people - presumably anyone asking to have the 'Discretionary 10% Service Charge' taken off their bill would be lucky to escape from the place alive (at least with all of their limbs). Mate, please seek some help and counselling - not sure if it will help you, but it's worth a shot...

Hair in food

Hair in food, accused me of putting it there. I have blond short hair, the hair in my food was a very long black hair. No apologies just making out that I’m the liar. Totally disgusted.

Sushimania in Edgware is not the greatest place. They force you to pay service charge which is not legal. Although some of the food was good, the seaweed salad tasted like chemicals, I am not sure how good the quality is but it’s the fact they force you to pay service charge isn’t right, the manager will make a big scene if you refuse to pay service charge.

Someone should tell them you can’t use service charge to pay for your waiters!!! Sushi mania should pay them fairly and any tips are a top up for good service. For this reason this place is not ethical.

Sushimania Reading

Sushimania Reading. Food was very salty. The manager was very rude. When we ate here for eat all you can, my one year old baby was also charged for £6 even she just had a few taste of the food. We were not informed beforehand that they also charge babies and was told by the manager that nothing is free now.

My fiancé and I visited Sushimania Nottingham this afternoon for the bottomless option, which includes a time limitation. After waiting for approximately 40 minutes, we were shocked to discover that the sushi and sashimi we ordered had not been served at all. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: if you cannot afford the costs associated with offering a bottomless option, it is better to discontinue this service. Do not waste your customer's time!! Very poor service!

Disgusted!!!!!

I have decided to order for collection as when I visited in person, the sushi was fantastic. Massive mistake! I have spent £30 on old sushi, nigiri and the rolls are filled with basically rice. The salmon is just about visible. No presentation nothing. Packet wasabi, packet soya sauce, packet ginger. Won't be ordering from here again!!!! Disgusting!!!

Bad experience in Sushimania Nottingham

It's not a good experience, we choose all you can eat menu, the only sashimi is salmon and they limit the amount. During our eating, a women (maybe one of the owner or manager) keeps ask us and doubts about if we can finish all the dishes, she looks very impolite and arrogant. But we have to pay for the service fee. Very disappointing place, and never come again.

Please avoid

I just came back from SushiMania in EDGWARE (Please avoid if you're a middle aged black male if you're alone) and I honestly can't put into words how upset I am at the service I just received. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive, I asked what seemed like the manager 'Tony' why my food was taking longer than everyone else. Note that a group 2 and a group of 3 came after me and all received complimentary seaweed salad and I sat there with my empty table. I ignored this but alarms started to ring when both other groups received their complete orders which included Sushi and donburi's. I got up and kindly asked the manager why my food was taking long and he brushed me off as he said 'the queue is long in the kitchen'. After such horrendous treatment, I honestly have not ate my food quicker as I felt extremely uncomfortable. When payment came, I informed the manager who I believe is called tony (Wearing a white shirt) that I received different treatment today and I wanted to take out service charge and he aggressively asked me 'WHY'. I am honestly appalled at the customer service. Please Avoid.

Poor Service and Ruined Birthday Meal

This is a follow up to the email they said they would follow up on but clearly can’t be bothered too!!

I want to inform you about our disappointing experience at your Nottingham restaurant which we visited on Saturday 26th February at 18.00.

We understand it was a busy evening; however, the service was shocking.

After selecting the 'all you can eat' menu, we made our first order under the maximum order limit; there were only six items. It took almost an hour and a half to complete and was only completed after chasing it multiple times.

Our second order wasn't ever fully completed. It took well over 30 minutes before anything arrived, and after things started to come, we still had to chase every 20 minutes. After about an hour, our order was still nowhere completed; we had been there for almost 3 hours!
We informed the server how long we had waited and that we needed the remaining food to arrive within 15 minutes to make it to a booking we had elsewhere. Instead of checking how long the order would be and giving us choices, the server just returned with our bill and informed us they had taken off some of the charges; This was disappointing as they didn't even try to resolve the issue and instead just wanted to get rid of us. I have never felt so disappointed and unwanted by a restaurant like this before. It showed little respect to our customs and a poor attitude to customer satisfaction.

We were told we could order every 15 minutes through the 'all you can eat' menu, yet the restaurant could not complete an order within an hour.

Saying this was 'all you can eat', and that we spent over 3 hours there; we left still hungry and disappointed by the entire experience.

This was a real shame as we could not fault the food, the little we had of it, and would have thought to come back again. We doubt we would want to come back again with the current situation and would advise against anyone visiting.

FYI this was a birthday meal out which your restaurant spoilt!

Very peculiar experience

Very peculiar experience
I paid for the all you can eat menu and ordered extremely modestly (4 sushi dishes in all). The chef made the sushi with a particularly large amount of rice (nigiri and inside-out rolls) so I removed quite a bit of the rice. The waiter/manager then came over to tell me that I should have eaten all the rice and couldn't order any more sushi unless I was going to eat all the rice! I explained that to him that it was really insulting to be dictated to about how to eat my food but the waiter/manager was undeterred. Suffice it to say that I will not be going back there. A very bizarre experience.
