People working are swapfiets I think are nice people, but just not doing their jobs properly. I’ve been with swapfiets for 3+ years already.
Yesterday I went to replace my bike, they did got me a new one but doesn’t check anything before handling it over to me. The front light wasn’t working when I tried it outside. I again went back to have then fix the light, they just replaced it with a new bike. I tried it everything was working well, and then I left. Only to find out I forgot to test one important thing as well, the bike ring/bell 🔔. Also wasn’t working.
I just hope they would check everything else before handling a bike to the customers.

Even though it can take a while for each appointment, it works really well, you can use Swapfiets to get used with dutch bikes, or for safety since they offer you all the support for daily basis and are stolen less often then normal ones are reported.
I've been using for a year and decided to get an upgrade, and as always the service was great.

After being a customer in Amsterdam for nearly 5 years and paying for multiple replacement/stolen bikes without issue, it is really disappointing to not have any flexibility on a charge that has been caused by something completely out of my control.
I went back to my home country for a month over Christmas and when i returned to Amsterdam I noticed that my bike, which I had left in the designated bike zone outside my apartment building, was gone.
A couple of weeks later I was preparing to leave NL for good and made an appointment to return my key. The worker there told me the bike had been collected by the gementee and that I would have to pay e40 to have it collected. This seemed a bit unfair given the full context in which i wasnt getting a new bike, I had left my bike in the correct place, and I had been paying the company a consistent fee since 2021. None of this was the workers responsibility of course, so I had made plans to contact customer support when I got the chance.
When i did get the chance, i was disappointed to be informed that there was no flexibility on the matter and I would have to pay the charge.
I want to be clear that I by no means feel entitled to have this charge forgiven - i dont know what happened that made the gementee collect my bike but it is not Swapfiets fault, and they are just enforcing their policy.
I am however disappointed by their approach to supporting a long time customer who had a bit of misfortune. The charge is a fraction of the money I had paid over the years, it would have been a nice gesture to have it forgiven. Instead it feels like I have been shoved on the way out the door and the door slammed behind me.
With that being said, I really enjoyed the service i got from Swapfiets over the years, hence the reluctance to give just 1 star. I do however have to deal with a sour taste from this experience.

The employee swapped my bike for a "new" one as it couldn't be quickly fixed and gave me a bike with broken speeds (the speeds switch on the handle doesn't work). I realized this only after I had left and the store had closed for the day. As I pay a subscription for a 7-speed bike this is unacceptable. Now I have to take time out of my day again to go to the store, wait in queue and try having this fixed. Not to mention me riding around with a broken bike until I find the time to go over there again. I don't want to blame the employee as it was just a young guy, but I do want to be vocal about my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Swapfiets.
