Being a veteran I asked what courses…
Being a veteran I asked what courses are available as i understand free course are available for veterans the question was basically ignored i am enroledl and paid for my course does TafeNSW offer free courses to veterans?
Not helpful at all
Not helpful at all. More of a sales pitch than an offer of information. Many queries prior to studies were completely ignored.
Yes it is suitable for everyone.
Yes, it is quite helpful for me because I am a newcomer here and eager to learn.
TAFE does not care about students...
I wanted to study at TAFE for a year 10 cert, studying defence maths & english. I was living with my ex girlfriend at the time, but we broke up a couple of weeks after I enrolled so had to move back in with family, hours away. So I had tried since to be transferred to a campus where I am now currently staying & have had absolutely NO help whatsoever in this transfer. I've contacted the local campus more than 5 times, i've called the campus I was studying at, i've even personally gone to the local campus & i've also even contacted TAFE on facebook to get this done, but NO progress has been made, at all. The head teachers always seem to be on holidays too. I've been trying for over a month & a half to begin my study but it's like no one even cares. But even when I was first enrolled before the breakup there was little to no help. I was just enrolled but not told what to do, so felt lost. & to add the cherry on top I also had difficulty logging into the TAFE student portal & had to constantly call tech support to reset my password... I know i'm forgetting to mention something because there were countless issues i've had since trying to enroll... This was at the start of 2023, so because the courses were free for the year did no one actually care? I feel that is the case. I give up now...
Mislead and Pressured Enrolment
I was interested in the Online photography class so emailed for further information.
I was contacted an excessive number of times, via phone, text and email.
I felt pressured into a phone conversation, when I requested electronic copies of information so I could be thoughtful about reviewing and making an informed decision. Particularly as I have a chronic health condition.
During the phone call I was interested in the course, and again requested electronic copies before committing. I was denied and felt pressured to sign up on the spot.
I then received the enrolment info and all the T&Cs via email, and noted I was mislead with payment options. I was not offered the cheaper (by $400!) upfront option.
I decided to withdraw in the cooling off period, and again was contacted multiple times, despite asking not to be. The main reason is due to loss of trust due to their conduct, especially being vulnerable with health.
Currently they are refusing to pay $100 ‘non-refundable’ deposit, despite what I deem to be quite unethical and misleading. I’m really disappointed, the course may be fantastic but their service is not.

The process is a bit slow in 2023 when everything is online. Need more staff to fulfill the requirement.

Rather prompt reply. Helpful with course fees and were willing to discuss this with me. Very happy with the course on offer for fee free TAFE. I will definitely be going back to study

A member of TAFE family…
I'm happy to be a member of TAFE family as their student. Their support has been satisfying so far.
Great experience
Great experience. I’m learning so much. I really appreciate being able to do my course at home and also have teachers I can contact if needed. Well worth the money. Hoping to become a counsellor one day.

Enrolled my son in a course which after 2 lessons proved to be well over his capabilities and drove him to some mental illness. I requested a withdrawal from the course and refund for 80% so we could change to a move suitable course - they refused any refund
They aren’t very helpful and they do…
They aren’t very helpful and they do not have government subsidies which isn’t good for someone that has disabilities like me. I am looking to do a short course and they aren’t helping me in the slightest
associate degree of engineering…
Started associate degree of engineering through Tafe Qld online. Expensive course with poor material, awful website presentation and navigation along with little feedback or buy in from teachers. Withdrew myself and now owe ATO a hefty sum as a result. Should have went through a Uni instead. Look elsewhere for your education needs.
I wanted to enquire about a free TAFE…
I wanted to enquire about a free TAFE mental health course as this is what the site suggested, but this was untrue…the information can be interpreted in two ways which is quite deceiving.

The website offers a list of free courses - it is impossible to find that list. The course offered is the most expensive provided with a limited discount. This process has left me completely turned off doing more training .
